AMERICAblog: GOP obstructionism continues on the Hill

  • whomod · 1 year ago
I've always been of the opinion that harry Reid is a bit too polite, a bit too mild mannered to deal with these Republican bullies in any meaningful way.
  • CalGal · 1 year ago
Yup, turns out more like "Give 'um Heck" Harry. Kind of makes me wonder if Mormons are just to darn nice to be top politicians. Mitt Romney couldn't lie with a straight face, and just couldn't sell it.

See that documentary about Roman Polanski? Fascinating, particularly if you, too, are "of a certain age" and remember the Tate/LaBianca murders, or if you've been affected by the courts' system in this country. It contains an interesting portrayal of the Mormon DA in the case. Maybe Jesus DID come to the New World?

I think that no matter who speaks in the Senate, they all sound a bit dick-ish to me. They are all politely telling each other to go to Hell.

Reminds me of my last family reunion...

blah blah blah I want to hear only just one word: IMPEACH!
  • whomod · 1 year ago
The road to IMPEACH is a bit too long right now. Investigations, putting these guys under oath and finally eventual war crimes and profiteering charges are more likely.

This is why getting people to vote and to realize what the Repubs are doing is so important. Not "Dancing with the Stars."

Love the new Grampa ad at the top of the site featuring that traitor Lieberman. Oh well, I hope it's costing Grampa money to place ads here.

could someone please explain why oh why they don't make the repukes actually filibuster - please?
  • CalGal · 1 year ago
Well, I'm not too sure, but I think there are lots of other procedural ways to stop the things up. This didn't seem to be a vote on a bill, which would really be a filibuster situation (and I agree with you, they were a total wuss crew that time they brought in the beds. Remember that lame charade?)

This kind of thing is what Byrd was really good at, and I sometimes wonder if we aren't doing enough to replace him in the Senate and equal him in the House. Playing by the rules can be a bitch, can't it?

"but they're white! they hate abortion and gays like I do!"-stupid white voters who vote repub and are paying 100 dollars to fill up their gas tank

Why couldn't we have done this when we were in the minority?

Because we don't have testicular fortitude, like the Republic Party does.

Why didn't Daschle stop the Bush Tax Cuts? Cuz we don't march in lockstep, like you need to do in a gang fight. We need to get tough. We need party discipline. We may need Hillary as Majority Leader with Bill behind her to twist arms. Well, that's unlikely, I guess, as I would think the numero uno thing you have to do to become a party leader is raise money and give it to your colleagues, and we know how bad Hillary was at that.

I am so sick of their foot-dragging to keep anything from being done. Hopefully, we'll just vote them all out.
