Amen, John. I have heard a number of conservatives trying to convince us what we really want is more social conservatism.

The strangest quote in that article is: "Americans do prefer a traditional conservative government," he said. "They just did not believe Republicans were going to give it to them."
Uh ... so that's why they voted for Obama? DeMint's been hitting the deMenthe.

I say, let 'em keep pushing this nonsense, it's clear the only people that are buying it are the folks saying it...
What better way to guarantee the GOP will remain impotent for years and years to come...

So where were the shouts of "kill him" & "traitor"? Surely had Jimbo wanted to draw blood he'd have accused McCain of being a traitor to conservative principles.

I like that they are now going to spend time tearing each other apart. The social conservatives have had nothing but contempt for the rest of the party. I am going to get some popcorn and watch the cannibalism.

Can this party stop drinking the kool aid. They are always in denial. On Bill Maher, can't think of the congress woman's name from Florida, but listening to her, I thought I was in the Twilight Zone, an alternate space in time.

McCain did his best to pretend he was a hard-core, religious right, wing-nut. Picking Palin didn't help him. They even went the smear your opponent route. The Repubs just don't have anything to sell to the majority of Americans who aren't religious extremists or CEOs. After eight years of Repub rule, who would want four more?

This is AWESOME. All the Freepers talk about is making the GOP MORE conservative. They booted my friend off their site because he wasn't conservative enough. That's like saying Jesus isn't Christian enough.
The GOP is DEAD. I love it. Maybe there is a god.

As an example of just how mind numbingly out-of-it Republicans are Alan Keyes filed one of those "Obama's birth certificate is fake" lawsuits as recently as Nov. 12th!!! and the Wingnut's are discussing it on a "PUMA" blog. It's crazy.
I think there is a lot of cross pollination from the Freeepers to the PUMAs.

a significant minority of conservatives, mostly young ones i suspect, will recognize that the conservative message has been hijacked and corrupted over the past 8 (maybe 28) years. the problem for the republican party is that these conservatives will find they have more in common with democrats that republicans. the reverse was not true when democrats were getting beaten in 1994, 2000 and 2004. that's because they were not being beaten by ideas. maybe in the very distant future, the dem party will have moved so far left that practical-minded liberals will feel more comfortable with republicans. right now that seems at least a generation away.

i guess you can define liberal any way you want. but most people wouldn't recognize market deregulation, environmental deregulation, pre-emptive war, unilateralism, gay bashing, science bashing, a corporate judiciary, assaults on the new-deal safety net and the least progressive tax structure since FDR as liberal.

And so the GOP continues on its march to become the White Southern Christian Zealot Party.
Good luck with that, Hillbillies.

Elections don't have consequences when it comes to what the media wants to feed us on Sunday! If its Sunday, its Conservatives... spoon fed to you by Big Media:
and Obama didn't run a center right campaign, either! All we ever hear from those revisionist bastards was Obama was the most LIBERAL SENATOR in the Senate and if he were elected Americans should be VERY VERY AFRAID of the new liberal agenda! Well, America elected him anyway, so they just need to ACCEPT IT! Change means real change. Conservatives need to get used to it.

Would it be ironic if after all these years, John McCain bolted the republican fascist party and became a democrat or at least an independent who voted with the democrats because of the short sighted republican fascist hate mongering that has begun being piled on!
That would be justice wouldn't it!

Their idea of "limited government" always includes what I can and can't do with my body or who I am allowed to love. If they really believed in limited gov: military, courts, hiways, etc, I might not run screaming from these REPS like I do now.
