AMERICAblog: GOP Senators filibuster Stroke Treatment, Vision Care for Kids, Paralysis research, Combating Child Exploitation...

  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Why didn't one of the Democratic Senators oppose the FISA bill to stop it in its tracks?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    :::pattin' Rufus' head:::

    because they're spineless.

So the bullies may be in the minority, but they are apparently still in charge.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
I never expect that the filthy anti-American republicans will do anything for the good of our citizens in general. Now, if it were possible for the thieving republicans to line their own pockets from any of these bills, they would have passed faster than their votes could have been counted.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
This is good. What assholes and just in time for the election. Ah that's right no one will ever know about this because the MSM will totally ignore it. Mission Accomplished. We have one party rule. Nothing to see here, keep moving.

but pigs are flying over at msnbc:

    mrs greenspan is defending obama

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Yeah, she's gotten back on her heels about McCain misrepresenting Obama's trip and his time with the military.

I'll give the devil her due.

Way to speak the truth, Mrs. Greenspan. That took integrity, especially considering that your sympathies lie with the Repubs.

You can be a Repub and be objective too. Not so hard, is it?
  • MikeinSanJo · 1 year ago
Wow! Our republican senators are a bunch of unprincipled obstructionists. Who knew??
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
The DSCC has the money, so I better see tons of commercials about this in the next few months.
  • onoclea · 1 year ago
Exactly, along with commercials about how the Repubs obstructed closing the enron loophole last week. And how they're obstructing renewal of the alternative energy tax credits. How they're obstructing the bill to help people with their winter heating bills. I don't get why the Dems aren't making hay with these subjects. My Repub father couldn't believe it when I told him his boy Voinivich had voted against every single one. I'll get him to vote Obama yet.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
They're all crooks to me. I don't pay them no nevermind.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
But, seriously Joe, you didn't really expect the Repubs to pass a bill against Child Exploitation, did you?

Can we have a Tom Allen moneybomb on the site tomorrow?
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    My bill was also rejected:

Sen Glasses Guy - introduced - Constellation Mapping & Escape (S. 497) Beam Me Up Scotty Act
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
Interesting about the Ted Stevens (AK) vote. Especially since the Russians (that's Soviet Union to Grampa McSame) are busily mapping the north Pacific and Arctic zones in order to lay claim to them and any oil reserves. You'd think the filthy anti-American republicans would be all in support of that one.
  • dreadpiraterobert · 1 year ago
I guess that just shows that blind kids, stroke victims, and victims of child pornography can't bribe Republicans like the Telcos can.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
80% of the people in this country think that this country is headed in the wrong direction from many years of republican policies, obviously. Yet the republicans can't recognize that. Still business as usual. I was reading a wingnut site the other night and they were going on and on about how difficult it would be for republicans to get elected this years because of the mood of the people was against republicans and their policies but they were offering ideas how they can change that and get elected.

OK, does anyone see the disconnect there?

If you want to get over the public's rejection, stop putting forth the policies that the public rejects.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Basically, do what the public wants. Stop doing what you have been doing.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
They're so wedded to their party and falied ideology, they can't see it.
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
Awesome they filibustered their own members.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
Was Grampa McSame there to vote? Or was he busy surging? And that stroke treatment bill could have gone a long way toward helping Cougar McTart recover her facial expressions.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Would anyone with any sense vote for a guy who's had melanoma 4 times and still doesn't know to stay out of the sun? That really isn't too bright (no pun intended).

And the Rethugs think it's your fault if you're blind, had a stroke, are a child, are mentally ill, yada yada yada...and they are in favor of torture, after all.
  • Donna_Z · 1 year ago
    Dear Senator Collins:

I phone bank every Thrus. night. Your vote against what fair-minded Mainers want will be noted. Oh...and all of those folks I see at the post office... they'll know too. Gosh, this might be an interesting week.

Thanks Senator, you're making my job easy.

    DZ
  • gumbygirl · 1 year ago
Give her hell, Donna--don't let these creeps hide under their slimy rocks anymore!
  • Donna_Z · 1 year ago
Ha! Two hours a week, I do my best.

When I call her office I remind them how Northern Mainiacs get their news: church suppers, the post office and sporting events. I've got it covered. I assure them that many people will know.

Collins needs N.Maine to counter Allen's advantage in the South. Besides, Tom Allen puts the better into more and better.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
If you read the people who voted Vitter voted against his own pornography act. I guess he finally realized if it passed he couldn't sell any more photos of himself in a diaper sucking on a boo=boo.
  • ShochuJohn · 1 year ago
I have not read any of these bills, but I think I have a pretty good pork detection system. I am sure Olympia Snowe would like to pay people in Maine to observe the ocean, and no doubt Christopher Reeve needs a bill named after him, but don't we have a deficit that needs to be paid down? I never thought I'd say this, but good job, Tom Coburn! Now if we can curb the GOP's penchant for sinking lots of money into silly wars, we may be on the right track.
  • Your_Uncle_Bastard · 1 year ago
"I have not read any of these bills..."

Then why the fuck would ANYONE want to read your ill-informed screed? Go fluff Tom Coburn and quit wasting bandwidth.

    EPIC FAIL.
