AMERICAblog: GOP strategiest: McCain will pay for all his lying

"Straight Talk Express" heralds from the painful experience of being trashed by Bush / Rove in 2000?

    Heavy Sigh...
  • Iowa_Democrat · 1 year ago
This is undoubtedly good news for John McCain
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
He doesn't care. He wants another house, damn it.

Here in Oregon Gordon Smith now has a 70% disapproval rating. His ads have become so utterly repulsive and so transparent in their lies people have utter contempt for him. Today's poll has him behind after having a huge lead.

I am very glad to hear that. Six years ago, when he reneged on promises re gay issues, I sent him a letter saying I would contribute to any Dem who ran against him. It's been my pleasure this year to do that and to hear that voters now see him for what he is.

    I hope this is true.
  • smiling_dog · 1 year ago
We can only hope he will pay for all his lying. History (at least recent U.S. election history) tends to show that the biggest liar usually wins.

People hear what they want to hear. His base does not want to be confused with the truth.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Fortunately, the base won't be enough.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Yes. Eventually most people see and understand the truth, but "eventually" can take a very long time.

Rick Davis, the McCain campaign manager recently said that this campaign will not be about the issues, we know now what he meant. If lies are repeated often enough they will be accepted as factual. Al Gore was the victim of this strategy when lies were repeated about him saying that he invented the internet.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Although he won the election, Al Gore was a victim. I also believe Kerry won in '04 and was a victim of the Big Lie technique. In fact, the American people have been victimized for many years in our history---at first, periodically, and lately, constantly.

There are the 10 commandments, remember them - McCain/Palin, and the Christian Right?
  • WindmillChasr · 1 year ago
The meme is in reach. Lies to Nowhere. Straight Lie Express.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
The BIG LIE strategy precludes telling the truth since the truth weakens the illusion the LIE depends on. It is possible to start from truth and end with a lie, but once you lie you never get to truth. McShame has boxed himself and Ms Moosebuger into a swamp. If they started to tell the truth now losing the election would be the least of their problems.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
I hope, pray that you are correct and that the MSM continues to point to the truth.

Now all Obama needs to do is call McCain out on this shit. My money says it will be during the debates. Obama will make him look stupid - hopefully McCain will then lose his temper. At that point the question won't be 'who wins?' but will be 'by how much will Obama win'?
  • LuZenMyMnd · 1 year ago
It's as if they have a total disregard for the truth; and expect us to have it as well.
I can't comprehend how Sarah Palin can claim ALL this christianity and keep lying and smiling. And that she has millions of smiling liars backing her.

IF, they REALLY believe, that individuals who've disenfranchised from America, due to race, social class, or system of belief is going to go for this garbage....they are full of shit and only deceiving themselves.

Barack had half a million NEW contributors. Palin/McShame should be VERY concerned. That's a half a million people backing up their conviction of a Barack presidency with their hard earned money.
