Obama is in the lead, for Gore to walk in and become president isn't going to happen.

That's smart.

It would be really nice if the site could reintroduce the comment count alongside the comment hyperlink, so one could see if any new comments had come in, instead of having to go into the comments to see.

OT : CIA chief says Iran has nuclear weapons drive
regarding Disqus, I noticed at least two times what seem like a reply to a user, inserted in the comments, along with the USERS EMAIL ADDRESS. It seems to be a error message to the effect "your message reply could not..." etc, but includes the actual email address.
That is really NOT cool. Anyone know why/when that happens? Is it only after hitting the "reply" link under each comment, when it goes wrong somehow or the party has it blocked?

Did anyone here participate in Earth Hour?

I didn't even hear of earth hour til it was over...I'm nine hours ahead of the east coast (USA), in Norway, and there was no buildup that I saw at all. Which is really weird as this kind of thing usually is very publicized here.
Felt bad I missed it. Hadn't noticed any darkness here either.

I only noticed a brief, highly edited clip of Mr. Gore this morning responding in a second’s long soundbite to any potential role as a convention power broker. Gore, even in the miniscule sound, mocked the oblivious "reporter" with a questioning characterization of himself as Boss Tweed. Smoke-filled bossism doesn't jive with eco-friendly political nudgery, the post 2000 Gore model, as any modestly read journalist/spokesmodel might suspect absent the script.

Regarding this new comment thing... all avatars aside, it is harder to follow. I know JA flipped the new comments from closest to the top to closest to bottom to reflect the old style but even that hasn't assisted my recent experiences. New comments seem to appear most often in the middle of a displayed thread. The posted "x minutes ago" line is inferior to the time/date stamp each old style comment carried (a boon when Googling old material...the mind boggles to imagine all these old archived messages will still carry an eternally-updated "x minutes ago"). The + & - ranking thing seems, even after days of operation, seems to offer nothing other than kindling for trivia fires. Of course, my profound inability to understand tech jargon and FAQs that never answer my FAQ add to my incomprehension...but, heck the avatar is fun.

Gore is financing this from Nobel Prize winnings and book sale proceeds plus his own money.
What a guy.

By trying to hog the stage, I forsee Gore as trying to steal the spotlight from Obama. Ever since Gore whimped out in the 2000 election, I've never trusted the guy. If Gore tries to waltz in and become the Democratic nominee, he is going to hear a lot of opposition. Since he failed to endorse Obama when the time was critical, then Algore, the weasel, needs to stay out of the spotlight.
