You forget that Harold was trying to claim that his grandparents were really white to try to get some votes. Fortunately an angry aunt in New York provided birth records in which they were listed as "negroes" I hate Harold.
Ford's position on the FMA also made the infamous "Playboy ad" perfectly fair game, imho - since it was pointing out his zipper problem. After all "family values" heterosexuals such as Ford should be following the no sex outside of marriage rules they espouse.
We're the reality-based coalition, remember? we like accuracy and transparency :)
I am sorry to see the netroots and the Democratic party giving him any attention.

Obama supports the 'separate drinking fountain' solution for gays: Civil unions - but only state by state.
While this sucks, Obama is much better on GLBT issues than Ford. And deep down inside, I suspect that Obama's stance was 'formed' in order to win an election.

Harold Ford is a disgrace to the democratic party...he chairs the DLC which, I believe, was an organization formed by the Clintons some years ago to bring the democratic party closer to the "mainstream" . LOL.
And yes, racist commercials were used against Harold Ford in the last election.. Remember the "call me, Harold" commercials? Harold Ford is an angry man and he supports the kind of politics that brought him defeat in the last election. When we see him on t.v. we watch for a moment and then the hurt comes over us. We tune out.
Even in my home state of Nevada, Tessa Hafen, a democrat, supported the Federal Marriage Amendment...Robert and I sat on our hands and did not vote for her.....she lost by a very slim margin.
Principled democrats should never support a Federal Marriage Amendment. We are better than that!

Just because the Right seems to be against anything that helps gay people doesn't mean that it's a stance people/Democrats should embrace just so we can win the Middle. Fuck the Middle if it means that we have to have a platform that isn't favorable to minority groups.

Homophobia may not equal racism, but it does equal discrimination when applied. One of the reasons I abandoned the Republican party was because of their being beholdin' to those who don't think ALL Americans deserve equal status in this country. Before then, I considered myself an Independent. Perhaps, it is time to rebrand myself.
To think, I marched in civil rights protests so this man could not only have a voice, but equal rights. You're welcome, Mr. Ford, but thank you for nothin'!

Read up on Harold quite a bit... you should check out what Black Commentator has to say about him, it sure ain't pretty... their basic point was that Ford doesn't give a shit about black people.
