AMERICAblog: Henry Waxman joins Andrew Cuomo - let's talk about that bonus money

When you borrow money from a commercial enterprise or bank, don't they set the terms of the loan? Sure, you may be able to shop around to get maybe 1/2% knocked off, but generally, loan terms are the same everywhere.

Their first clue should have been: the order for the bailout came from the Bush regime...cheeeeez.

I'm at a loss as to why those who crafted the "bailout" for Wall St. did NOT set the terms of compensation for those who are dipping into govt funds. Do they all have rich friends on Wall St., after all? Do they really care whether or not our great-grandchildren will be paying off the losses incurred by this regime 100 years from now?

What Waxman and other "shocked" Congressional types are doing now is what they should have done before they swept this bailout onto the public in such a hurry.

    Yes!

    No!

Congress and Henry Waxman had better do something also about the fact that a couple of the banks getting our tax dollars are planning to use them to buy other banks instead of make loans, their intended purpose.

Republicans redistribute the wealth by taking it out of the pockets of middle-class taxpayers and putting it into the pockets of CEOs.

A quick correction. They list Congressman Pete DeFazio in this article as a Republican when he is most definitely a Democrat and has been since he was first elected to Congress back in the 80's. I know, I used to be one of his constituents and helped elect him to Congress way back when!

"People are going to be demanding that someone go to jail," say Rep. Peter DeFazio (R.-Ore), who says his constituents have applauded him for voting against the legislation.

    ***********************************************

Yeah, DeFazio...but I strongly suspect you know just as well as I do that just because someone ought to be held accountable and just because the people demand it probably won't even amount to a hill of beans in the end. Sadly, it appears that a sizeable majority of the American people still can't quite manage to grasp the fact that talk is cheap -- and doubly so when it comes from a politician. Of late, it increasingly appears that the Golden Rule -- namely, "those who have the gold make the rules" -- is at least rapidly approaching (if not actually reaching) the point at which it supersedes all others in this country.

Who here genuinely believes that any of these people are even remotely likely to end up going to jail??

    Anyone...?

    Anyone at all...?

    ...*crickets*...

People should not be sent to jail based on "people demanding that someone go to jail". Either they are guilty of a crime or they are not. WTF?

Let's talk about treating them like drug dealers and seize all their assets.

Waxman is a bucktothed little fucking joke of a man. Nothing will happen on his watch. Cuomo might be different.

You know, in this housing crisis we are in, with so many families being foreclosed on etc., has anyone seen any numbers on increase/decrease in mega mansions? The building of, or foreclosures?

These guys are FAT CATS indeed. Greedy.
