A bit on the sophomoric side, don't you think?
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Actually, you didn't bother reading the article. It's a bit on the incredibly telling side, if you bothered clicking.
  • Clancy · 1 year ago
John, would it kill you to do a pro-Obama post every once in a while? I'm not only tired of Clinton, I'm tired of being anti-Clinton.

it was beat out by the Monica cigar snipper.

Hillary blew her chance to be a great president by acting like the stereotypical dumbfuck male, not like a strong, smart woman.

if there's some toy out there with her downing a shot, while holding a rifle and a bible, that might be funny.

    yes i read the article.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Ah, a sure sign she's out.

    Chachski is marked down.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Well, TLS, it's kind of funny and it's kind of interesting and telling at the same time. If you'd prefer that we stick with straight, obvious, boring news, I'll try in the future not to post the fun stuff.

I just find the graphic (and the item) tasteless and not worthy of including on your website. I really like Americablog... Keep the standards a little higher.

I'm no fan of Senator Clinton, but the nutcracker thing is really tacky, kinda wish you didn't go there john.

Yes, it's kind of funny, but I'm with those who say it's too tacky for this site.

Frankly I'm seeing too much stuff like this here lately. Yes, HRC is completely deluded, dangerous, disingenuous, and is causing huge problems for Democrats. I'm with you there. But she's not the anti-christ and I think you can keep the tone a little less nasty. There was a time when she was on our side! There's plenty to be angry about, but the frequent disparaging links and nasty comments are a little too petulant and don't help 'our' side at all.

That said, I wonder if there's a Larry Craig version? It's got that 'wide stance'. They'd have to put him in the box facing the other direction though...

(by the way - I was reacting to the pic, not the article which was pretty interesting. I think a less tacky photo might have been better - I bet many stopped there and didn't even read the headline much less the article)

    oh pish posh, John.
i'm not saying to stop with the fun stuff, just stop with the stuff the redneck bubba woman-haters in my state would like.

Yeah I read the article. So suppose the Klan is selling a Little Black Sambo doll looking like Obama. You'd run pictures of that without comment on your part?

Apart from the fact that your running this is grotesque on the face of it, I suppose you want Obama to win? Is this the kind of crap that will entice Hillary supporters to support him in November? Or are you more interested in amusing yourself?
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
That's interesting. So it's okay for Hillary's campaign to have people say, on purpose, that she has balls - literally, that's what they're having people say - but when a joke is made about her being a ball-breaker, that's akin to a sambo, as is reporting on it. Sorry, you got me to pull the hysterical YouTube video the other day, on this one I stand my ground. It's funny, and it's telling.
  • jeffr8 · 1 year ago
It's not okay for Hillary's campaign to ... etc. Are you saying that the "tit for tat" game is more important than healing the divisions within the party so as to maximize our v ote in November?

By the way, some people think fart jokes are hilarious. And it's telling.
  • rose88 · 1 year ago
Ah, yes, Hilary's campaign has put out the "she's got balls" line as of late. And why would they do that? Could it be because men like you have not only accepted, but have indeed exploited the fact of American politics that our politicians must have "balls" (i.e. masculine characteristics) to handle the challenges of leading the free world. As I recall, when Hilary acted like a big girl and her voice broke for a few seconds, you said that men had every good reason to reject a female candidate because of her emotionality. An emotionality that men are of course immune to. It's all logic to you, right?

But see, you DON'T think Hilary has balls. No, she's nothing more than a big ball-buster to you. Her campaign people can talk about her balls all they want, but you know she'll never have them. No matter how badly you believe she wants them. No matter how she's tries, in your eyes she can never be as good as a man. As logical as a man. As powerful as a man. And I believe when you look at her you're filled with disgust with the way she tries to project that she could in any way, shape or form project the power that comes from having real balls. And us other vaginal-Americans better get in line behind Obama and see the humor in our constant humilation and degredation at the hands of men like you. Or we'll get McCain. And we'll have nothing but our ball-busting, whiny, humor-impared feminist selves to blame.

Now I support Obama. 110% actually. And I have been supporting over Hilary for a few months now as I've gotten to know the man better. Unlike you, and so many of his supporters, he strikes me as a very decent man. You can't get me to reject Obama as my candidate no matter how hard you try.

But this election isn't over and women are angry. Angry in ways you don't know and you'll never understand (nor do you want to). And while I'm behind Obama, I do believe you'll be able to talk other women out of it. And we'll get McCain. And you'll have nothing but your hostile, hyper-competitive, misogynistic ways to blame for it.

Enjoy your hearty belly laughs while you can. The big punchline coming could be Bush's third term, aka President John McCain.

    Wow.

You got all of this from a post about Hillary campaign paraphernalia now selling at 1/2 price?!

Sistah, you should eat some chocolate or sumpthin' that makes you feel less wired. Whatever produced this cranked-up vitriol...for your own sake, let it go.
  • jeffr8 · 1 year ago
Perhaps she got it from a whole host of sexist posts here over the campaign. But we mustn't be shrill. I had a gut reaction to this site posting that picture, and I think others (men and women both) might also. With Obama being the nominee-apparent, the task at hand is to pull the Hillary and Obama forces together, not pandering to John's junior-high sense of humor.

You can't possibly be thinking that that picture was helpful, can you?
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Sexism is commonly considered to be discrimination and/or hatred against people based on their sex rather than their individual merits.

You'll have to help me out, jeffr8. I read Americablog every day, yet somehow I've missed the "host of sexist posts." Can you link to them?
