Poll: 61% of Jewish voters want Obama to win
    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/201467...

  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Interesting poll. It shows the support of the Jewish community at large for Obama. Good info.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Hell, why doesn't Hillary just come out and say Barrack cannot carry the state of Israel.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
That'll be the next statement, along with the hard working middle class white vote.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
Koch is obsessed! I've never seen anything like this in any other campaign in my entire life. It's a dark obsession that everyone has around her.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
The Clinton argument is not just that Obama cannot win the white vote. The clinton camp has pointed out that Hispanics, whites and Jewish folks support Clinton. The argument is beginning to sound something like if you support Obama you must be black.
  • 57andFemale · 1 year ago
This Jewish, 58 year old white female and a feminist, supports Barack Obama.

My 68 year old husband, growing up poor on the South Side of Chicago, a Catholic -- is for Barack Obama.

My brother-in-law -- frankly as bigoted as they come, is for Barack Obama.

I'm sorry we don't have any relatives in Appalachia. Because everyone knows, as Appalachia goes, so goes the country.

Any other Hillary demographics you want to throw at me?
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
I believe none of the MSM and Clinton campaign demographics, as I am a white male over 40 supporting Obama. But if you need more, just wait for the Clinton cxampaign's nexrt talking point.

This message is really aimed at the Obama camp. Obama better get ready and really have a plan to defend and defeat all of the smears that are going to come at Obama. Obama better have an offensive smear strategy operation going to offset the offensive operations the McCain camp will employ against him. This is the Major league and no one will play nice and the only rule in place is do not get caught playing dirty. The GOP will play dirty Obama. Do you understand the game and have a plan to neutralize their dirty tricks. Right now John McCain is getting beautiful media coverage. Obama how do you plan to handle the media? I hope you Obama guys are listening.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
    DCinDC

Obama needs a MASSIVE ground operation. The media is pro-war, so Obama's 50-state strategy has to bypass the media to speak directly to the American people. The war machine runs the media and its purpose: elect McCain, since DINO Hillary is extinct.

  • 57andFemale · 1 year ago
He'll do just fine. By the way, with the Hillary lovefest with McCain, how was that race going to play out anyway?

"Losing his bearings" is already part of the political lexicon.
  • caphillprof · 1 year ago
I think we're witnessing the death of a political machine (Hillary, Bill, Koch, Ann Lewis, etc.) and it isn't pretty. Indeed, ABC will seek to cut Stephanapoulus's salary since his value is diminished as well.
  • petercjack · 1 year ago
I don't agree with this Monica award idea. I am a strong Obama supporter, and as a supporter, he has consistently taken the high road, no matter what sleaze is thrown at him. His strategy is the right one, and it is a winning strategy. As tempting as this is, I hope you reconsider this award. Obama is winning because he is tapping into our highest ideals not moving to the lowest of the low.
  • Kes · 1 year ago
Remember when Clinton took issue with Obama's statement that using nuclear weapons against civilian populations would be "off the table" if he were President? She said categorically refusing the option was naive, and suggested she was more diplomatically suave than he was.

This is yet another example of that. Apparently in Clinton-land, we always need to keep our inhumane and counterproductive options for mass-destruction open, just in case.

Pretty much explains all her tactics in the race for the candidacy, doesn't it?

Clinton Camp: "We're in striking distance of the popular vote." Hmm, two weeks ago I distinctly heard someone from the Clinton camp say they have won the popular vote. Sounds like the campaign is going in all kinds of driections.

This has now become childish. It's one thing to be angry at the Clintons - I am too - it's another to behave like Fox news. Ms. Lewinsky is now a private person. I'm sure she regrets her time at the White House. Bill Clinton abused his position to exploit a vulnerable young woman. By all means find a way to criticize the hypocrisy of the Clintons but don't drag someone else's name through the mud for no reason. Hasn't she now graduated from the London School of Economics? Let the poor woman alone. I was shocked to see a poster here call her a whore. If we start behaving as Republican hacks then they've won.

You will regret this. Trust me. And it will be used against you. It's acutely embarrassing - as is the tone of righteous indignation. Leave that to Dobson et al. You've had an education and should know better. I've respected this blog in the past and read it several times a day. Please don't make it impossible to continue to respect your opinions.

Let me say again - and I beg you to get over your anger and think - you are using the tactics of Rush Limbaugh. I would beg you to stop. By indulging your indignation you undermine the credibility of the whole blog.

What are you going to do Obama when the GOP and McCain come after you?

EXACTLY. It is why I've said over and over again. Democrats need to stop fawning over McShame's supposed "honorable" military service. Remember John Kerry's honorable service and how it was TRASHED by Republicans? Nothing should be off limits, including those Viet Nam vets who keep saying McShame SANG LIKE A BIRD in the Viet Nam prison camp to get special treatment. NOTHING should be off limits.

That is true. Nothing should be off limits because the GOP will not limit their attacks to a high standard. Attacks have to be coordinated and come in different levels. Some might be direct but others are subtle. Nothing connected to the Obama directly. Some attacks have to be downright dirty! Why? Because some of the McCain and GOP attacks are going to be downright dirty! All of this is going to play out in the MSM media! Blogs help but control of the MSM is essential! Now if I can see that why can't the Democratic party see it?
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
    DCinDC,

They do see it. Obama knows this is coming. After the Philly "debate", Obama said the general election has already begun. And besides, Obama needs Clinton's supporters, he doesn't need McCain's. That's why he never attacked Hillary because he doesn't believe in fratricide, but he will hold no punches against the GOP. Obama's from Chicago. That's a tough town!!!! ;-)

Someone please get a brain and realize that simply because someone votes FOR Hillary doesn't mean they are voting AGAINST Barack. Remember, we have two strong candidates, it's not a zero sum game. I am so tired of the short sighted, idiot MSM and I'm not too thrilled with the normally wiser Blogosphere that someone isn't pointing this out to the ignorant masses. Everyone keeps asking, why isn't he attracting this or that voter..........duh, because someone else is........Hillary, not because they don't like him, they might like her better, or know her name better (that whole name recognition thing). It doesn't mean that all those white voters who voted for Hillary are somehow racist. Someone please help get this message out there.

In politics it is not enough just to throw punches. Obama will have to throw punches that are below the belt. But Obama can not be caught doing that. Does his organization have the smarts to pull this off? That is what it will take to win in November? It will not be pretty!

Does he have the smarts? are you serious? His campaign has just divised and executed a strategy that took a freshmen senator and allowed him to beat one of the most qualified field of Dem candidates in history, including the wife of one of the most beloved POTUSs in recent history who also happens to be a well regarded Senator in her own right.

When are people going to get it, the very reason for Obamas success is because he isn't following the traditional political playbook. I realize this may be very scary to those who are used to using the "old metrics" to measuring a candidates electability, but has he not already shown that the old ways are vulnerable?

Clintons main battle cry has been that she's a "fighter" and Obama isn't. Yet, here we sit with her still throwing around haymakers and Obama on cruise control to the nomination. At some point it is going to sink in to everyone that the slogan "change" is far more than that. Change is also Obamas political strategy and although it is frought with challenges and dangers, it also represents a much more compelling answer to the GOP smear tactics than to just slug it out with them. It still has me dumbstruck that the Clintons, of all people, didn't see the brilliance in Obamas tactics given that Bill himself won the nomination and the WH using some fairly unconventional tactics at the time, and faced very similar concern as Obama does today.

    That's E-L-L-I-O-T-T

Trust me, McCain is going to implode. McCain and his family have too many skeletons in their closet to list, and the left is way more effective using the web to disseminate information.
    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/5/12/05425/2...
It's under the radar, but a few federal cases are still going forward challenging his "natural-born citizenship" status. If they rule in his favour, all the crimes of GITMO will fall under US jurisdiction. McCain's adopted daughter is from a Muslim family. The Vietnam government has his Hanoi tapes. The S&L crisis. His wife's arrest for stealing drugs for her addition. I wish I had more time.

    Ohio Primary Final Totals:

    Clinton: 1,259,620 votes - 53.5%
    Obama: 1,055,769 votes -44.8%.
    margin: 8.7%

Hillary cares deeply about the fall election: she needs Obama to lose so she can run again in 2012, and she'll do everything she can behind the scenes to make sure that happens. (Saturday's SNL skit nailed this on the head.)

    Sorry about the missing t.

I hope you are right. You seem to know McCain's weaknesses but do the Democrats and Obama camp know them? I feel they are both too afraid of getting dirty to play in the majors. We will see and know by November.

As a 100% Obama supporter, campaign worker, convention delegate, et al, I implore you to reconsider using this ad femina "metric" to retailiate against the HRC campaign. While I totally agree with you that the Clinton campaign is stooping to appalling new lows of pathos, your tactic here strikes me as misguided, crude, and counterproductive, not to mention grossly unfair to Lewinsky. Yes, this is war, I agree. But the only way we can untimately prevail in a democracy is by winning people over to a higher position, not by jumping into food fights. We need to out-class and out-think the other side, but this takes discipline and discernment. I'm still waking up here, but I'm sure there are any number of more effective symbols to use as metric. How about Bill Clinton wagging his finger? That way you would localize the criticism to the specific 'target', which is the demonstrated mendacity and hypocrisy of the Clinton position, rather than on a third party who is NOT herself a player in this psychodrama. You could set up a contest for your readership to come up with alternative metrics for use with specific offenses. That way you could tailor the criticism more specifically to the issue at hand, and thus help to raise the level of thinking and conversation. You might start stockpiling images for use with McCain BS as well. You could use humor, which is the most effective rhetorical weapon ever. This is a war of both ideas AND heart. We're not going to win it by trying to out-sleaze a sleaze machine.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Sorry, but you don't stop bullies by pulling out a thesaurus. I'm not trying to win over any voters, I'm trying to show the Clintons that their reputation is going to go down the gutter along with Obama's if they keep this up. I'm also trying to show the superdelegates that there's a price to be paid for letting Hillary continue this farce for another month. Once it becomes too big a mess, they'll put a stop to it. But currently, the Supers don't care if Obama is being obliterated by Hillary. Maybe they'll care more if the topic of discussion starts to include the Clintons' scandals as well. So, like I said, I'm not trying to sway any voters.
  • KelvinMace · 1 year ago
    John:

Just an observation, while I agree with giving Clinton surrogates Hell, I think it is unfair to use the "Monica system".

Monica Lewinsky was a 20 year old woman who was enamored of Bill Clinton and got involved with him. It is unfair to use her face as a weapon to slam Hillary Clinton. What happened is fair game, but to use Monica's face is just wrong. She was 20, she made a mistake. Clinton was over twice her age and has no excuse. Please, cut the woman some slack. It is a bit misogynistic to use Monica's actual face in such a humiliating fashion.

How about using a vacuum cleaner pic to represent a blow job? Keep Monica's face and her name out of it. She's paid the price for her mistake and it is unfair to demand she keep paying.
  • RickTaylor · 1 year ago
"So, we award Hillary supporter Ed Koch, who's obviously doing this at Hillary's request. . . "

Ok, I'm slow. Why is it obvious Ed Koch is doing this at Hillary's request? Ed Koch backed Bush in 2004, he's certainly capable of being saber rattler all on his own.
  • warsaw · 1 year ago
Can't figure out why these gay guys (Ed Koch, Elton John, Perez Hilton) are so in the tank for the Clintons who have sold them out time after time. Maybe they identified with Monica? Bill used to be hot but now he's a cranky old drunk with a cauliflower nose and a demented wife. Talk about chickens coming home to roost.

What flavor Kool-Aid do these people drink?

Being that it would take a miracle of epic proportions for Hillary to be the nominee, how could a Democrat with any standing in the party say things that might potentially hurt Obama in November. Ed Koch must need his meds because this kind of talk doesn't help Hillary; it helps McCain.

  • DougStamate · 1 year ago
Senator Clinton never said she would "start a war" to protect Israel or Jordan or Saudia Arabia. To quote from Koch's letter: "Hillary recently attempted to warn Iran that were it to launch nuclear weapons against Israel, the U.S. "would be able to totally obliterate them." "
I'm not in agreement with much of what former Mayor Koch wrote in his letter, but he was correct about how the doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction helped prevent direct hostilities between the Soviet Union and the United States and it's NATO allies; hostilities which both sides recognized as the first step to nuclear war.
You may continue your HRC hate-fest.
