AMERICAblog: Hillary was against the Florida primary, but now she's helping Florida Democratic leaders milk a problem they created

  • Indigo · 1 year ago
And so the Dark Fussing begins . . . I very much doubt that the Democratic Party can carry Florida in November, regardless of the nominee. The forces are already gathering to guarantee that Blacks wont't be voting in record number, Cubans will be voting against any Democrat that runs, and the technology for the Republican victory is already in place. Voting machines count what they're programmed to count. We all know that, don't we? The only mystery in the conversation at this point is how the pundits of the Northeast continue to imagine that Florida's Cuban voters are liberal and Democratic.
    They are not.
    And so it goes.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
How right you are. Neither candidate, no Democrat, is going to carry Florida, especially if McCain takes Crist as his running mate. If I were Obama, I would not wear myself out there. Let's remember that Gore need just one more state and Florida wouldn't have mattered. Let's go for Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, etc. There are plenty more, and Obama will get more than just that needed one out of the lot.

The Clinton camp has CNN in hyper form and CNN is going to look ridiculous as the day goes on. The latest gambit was to feed them the news they are in talks with Obama and discussion about such things as vp. CNN is going nuts.
Malvaux has already had to walk back on the story some and I expect even more so as the day goes on.
Axelrod was on Morning Joe today adamantly saying no one is talking period.
CNN took the bait and I cannot wait for the time they have to apologize for being foolish and jumping for the Clintons. But, they so want this stupid dream ticket they will bite at anything.

I think it is rather obvious at this point that Hillary Clinton will not stop until she finds any manipulative way to force someone to give her the nomination. And if it costs Democrats Congress and the Presidency for the next 20 years, so what? It's all about Hillary's manifest destiny. The duplicity of her campaign is so enormous that she may be the first candidate in history (if she won) starting out the presidency with a 90% disapproval rating.

For you MSM people out there who don't quite get it, there's this thing in legal thought called consideration.

Helpful Hint: Graduates of Yale Law School don't enter into agreements without consideration.

    Hillary agreed to exclude Florida.

    Think on these things.
  • MOSHEA · 1 year ago
Joe and John I have to say that your constant does of anti-Hillary stuff is bordering on idiotic. Turning against your own in such a way is not beneficial to our discussion or process at all. It's as if you two just realized what polictics is about and are surprised by the tricks that go on behind the scenes. It has no bearing on policy at all in the end which is what they should be elected on in the first place.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I'm more concerned about what Democrats who fail to condemn Hillary for her flagrant and shameless deceits are doing to the Party.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
What you call just "tricks", I call dishonest and unethical behavior of the highest order. If Clinton can lie and cheat her way through in the end and disregard each and every rule she committed to with her own party, I cannot trust her when she takes the oath of office and swears to uphold the Constitution of the United States. My God, we're lost if we are bringing up our children to think like you. "Issues" can't be dealt with without moral underpinnings.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
If it was "behind the scenes," I could deal with it.

But she's making an ass of herself and damaging the party's nominee on the nightly news.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
As was said earlier on this and the other big blogs: SHE AND HER CONTINUED SUPPORTERS INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE! She has resorted to FLAT OUT LYING when she CONTINUES to spew that she has a higher popular vote. Even with MI and FL included for her IT WOULD STILL BE A LIE! Not to even mention this has nothing to do with popular vote, it has to do with delegates.

Sorry for yelling. Some people just don't get it.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
turning against your own...that describes Hillary better than anything.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Yes, Joe, I can't watch Debbie W-S anymore either. I hit the mute button when she opens her mouth. Time to find someone to run against her.
  • LeeBurl · 1 year ago
Clinton supporters have been out in force spreading misinformation. I have yet to see one these supporters address the fact that Clinton agreed to these rules. Her own team vote 12-0 in favor of this rule.

It is insulting to me, because these supporters are using ginned up math and they are knowingly passing misinformation as fact.

Sen. Clinton and her supporters must think we are all idiots who can't remember what happened a few short months ago. They are literally telling us to "not believe our lying eyes".

If she has to go all the way to Denver, fine that's her choice. But don't try sell this bag of crap that is somehow she is the champion of democracy for these states. She wasn't in their corner until it was clear she could not win without these states.

Does anyone know what's going on with the superdelegates? After a steady trickle, they seemed to have shut down yesterday, and none today so far. Maybe they don't want to give the illusion that they stepped in and settled the race until the last three primaries are finished?
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
One other comment I want to make: there is a report that the Clintons are willing to cause a civil war in the party now if she is not given the vice presidential slot. If they succeed, I cannot vote for the ticket because it is bad news when the number two person can dictate to the supposedly number one person. It's a mirror of Cheney/Bush.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
The Clintons are all about drama.

    Remember the 90s?
  • MarkoSparko · 1 year ago
Al Gore needs to step in and counter her Florida schtik! It's not the same and he's the only one that can counter this... because the media surely isn't!

Fortunately, most voters -- the vast majority -- in Florida care more about their day to day lives than they do about the political infighting in the Democratic Party... at least those I've talked to knocking doors in the Miami area. We're going to win some more seats in the state legislature and Congress this year, but yes, it would certainly help if we had a unified party.

I was hopeful that Edwards' announcement for Obama would help Hillary catch her breath. That didn't happen. I doubt that Gore's words can carry much influence with her now; she's on an adrenaline roll and staying on it until the adrenaline wears off. Her pending energy crash will look might nasty. She's turning into a Brittaney Spears. Scary!
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Rachel Maddow said. according to the rules, that all Hillary has to do is reject ANY offer made to her regarding FL and MI and it automatically cannot be decided until the convention thus keeping her in the race until then.

    Scary thought.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
She's not going away but she shot herself in the foot, although she doesn't know it yet.
  • MarkoSparko · 1 year ago
Al Gore might not be able to convince Hillary (she's gone mad) - but his speaking out against her propaganda in Florida, would help a great deal!. He was the one that actually got robbed in that election - and she's using it to prop up and spread her delusion.
  • scooter in brooklyn · 1 year ago
the superdelegates still have the ability to END THIS NOW, though i guess there's not a lot of harm in waiting for june 4. if enough come out for obama the question of florida and michigan is moot. game over.

i used to like debbie w s - sad to see what a shrill shill she's become.

Hillary was for the stripping of Florida and Michigan's delegates before she was against it.

Hillary was against the Florida primary, but now she's helping Florida Democratic leaders milk a problem they created

Right.....................................and wasn't it the Republican leaders who set the date forward???????????????????? Hmmmmmm.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Hillary agreed to exclude Florida. HELLO.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
naschkatzehussein---A congressman from here in CA switched from Hillary to Obama this morning. +1 Obama -1 for Clinton.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Surely Obama won't cave in to the Clintons. Talk about double teaming someone.

That's exactly what would happen. I've pretty much locked in on Jim Webb now (but would support anyone but the Clintons) who would provide a good balance on the ticket. He's intelligent and nobody's fool.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I should add that Congressman Jim Costa of California endorsed Obama this morning. Dennis Cardoza is the congressman that switched from Hillary to Obama. So for the day so far: Obama +2 Clinton -1.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Thanks! DailyKos needs to update the bar.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Yeah, that vote bar doesn't automatically refresh except when somebody at Kos decides to. There is a link on it though that takes you directly to Democratic Convention Watch's home page.

I'll mention it again, (even though I got a lot of negative ratings on that particular post) I think DemCon Watch is a top-notch site. Kudos to whoever is running it.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
They updated it....and then some. Two NH Edwards supes have gone for Obama now. Total for day so far: Obama +4 Clinton -1.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Hillary's conduct now makes it abundantly clear that she must be excluded from consideration for VP.

    That much can be settled.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
    I'm with that.

Even without a Wasserman, folks suspect the syphilitic insanity of Team Clinton's latest soap opera...

  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
That Debbie Wasserman Schultz should've recused/resigned herself from the DCCC down there in Florida. This isn't a fucking game. She is yet another obstacle in Dr. Deans 50 state strategy.

Come on Democrats, get this act together. Interesting that the only one seemingly above the fray is the presumptive nominee.
