AMERICAblog: Hillary's people again threaten Pelosi, say they'll defund Democratic congressional races

John,
You need to get an e-mail campaign going for us to write to the superdelegates and demand they choose sides and put this to an end. I am very confident that Obama is the most electable of the two democratic candidates. He will win over the doubters and get Hillary's voters if she withdraws gracefully and endorses him and campaigns for him.

yes, yes, yes ... as moreleesafer states:
"get an e-mail campaign going for us to write to the superdelegates"

Did she hire Rush Limbaugh operatives to run her campaign? Jeezus. . .how can these people threaten to defund congressional candidates when they can't even fund Hillary's own campaign anyway? Or, I suppose, they are already tapped out to the legal limit supporting her drive.
Something is just fishy here - while I wouldn't be surprised that a candidate makes promises to get support from the rich and powerful, I'm beginning to wonder if Hillary offered deeds to the Moon and five free nights in the Lincoln Bedroom and these supporters don't want to lose out on their investment.

What's Weinsteins strategy? Even if they put Michigan and Florida back (and fuck you Hillary, you signed the agreement that they be discounted, play by your own fucking rules) it still wouldn't be enough for her to win.
Weinstein is acting like a Republican, you just know he's sniffing after some money somewhere that Billary has promised him or something.
"Unless HRC gets to stay in the race, congressional races will be defunded. But we understand that if HRC does stay in the race, congressional races will be defunded."
Sounds like a lose-lose-LOSER situation for everyone. THANKS HILLBOTS!

the polls were right about not trusting her. she just proves it every time she opens her mouth. she does not deserve to lead this country or new york state.

I just cannot ask enough times: what the FUCK is wrong with this woman??
I mean, really, on a fundamental level, she appears to be completely lacking an essential component of humanity that most people exhibit during their daily lives - an understanding of the greater good, and why one's own ambitions are NOT the same thing.

I think we should all begin referring to Obama as "the presumptive democratic nominee", the same way the press refers to McCain ( who has not won the nomination yet either).
The presumptive democratic nominee Barack Obama. sounds nice.

What money or power does Hillary have left to threaten with?
(serious question)
slappymagoo

dad, it's not that Hillary is threatening to withhold anything. Hillary's big $$ donors are saying that if she doesn't get what she wants, they won't donate to Congressional races.

Hillary Campaign Says No To New Michigan Delegate Proposal By Greg Sargent - May 8, 2008, 2:20PM
Camp Hillary is rejecting the new plan floated today by Michigan Dems that would seat the delegation by awarding 69 delegates to Hillary and 59 to Obama.
Hillary spokesperson Isaac Baker emails over this:
"This proposal does not honor the 600,000 votes that were cast in Michigan's January primary. Those votes must be counted."
What money or power does Hillary have left to reject the MI solution with?
(serious question)

As far as I can tell Hillary has only as much influence as we, her fellow Democrats, afford her.
She should be trying to rebuild alliances not accrue more enemies.
Her circle of influence is shrinking quickly.

Hillary sends letter to Obama:
Sen. Hillary Clinton Thursday sent a letter to Sen. Barack Obama, putting pressure on the Democratic front-runner to settle the dispute over the estranged delegations from Florida and Michigan.
In the letter, Clinton says:......(snip):
Your commitment to the voters of these states must be clearly stated and your support for a fair and quick resolution must be clearly demonstrated.
'Must' ?!?!!....who the hell is she to tell Obama what he 'must' do.

huh. i thought big $$ donors donated to and aligned themselves with influencial politicians likely to gain power

Sounds like some of those big $$ donors took for granted, just as Hillary did, that she was going to be the nominee.

Not a problem in the least! The DNC has about $42 million in the kitty. If the power brokers refuse to fund the party, Obama has the ability to raise that in a week on his backers alone.
Don't let this worry you! The brass is looking at Obama's ability to raise funds, and are actually looking at his success as a new way to raise capital. I can't believe all the good stuff that's happening. The Superdelegates are just about ready to make their move for Obama now.

One upside to the almost complete lack of leadership in DC is the opportunity it creates for BHO to bring a new ruling class to the table. Hopefully, they won't be ossified and out of touch before the start of his 2d term...

John, I completely agree with you that it's long past time for Clinton to leave the race. But I really don't appreciate your saying, "I mean, she might even cry." That's the stereotype of how a woman reacts to news she doesn't want to hear.
John Aravosis

Editormom, it may or may not be a stereotype, but it's what she's done repeatedly, and I suspect falsely, to woo sympathy.

It may be a stereotype of a woman crying, but Hillary put the tears to use, so the stereotype comment was totally justified. As a woman, I was disgusted with her "tears." Maybe they were real - after all, she wasn't getting what she wanted. She is a conniving person who does not belong in the White House. I can't believe the DNC and the "Super" (not super in my opinion) Delegates are letting Hillary do whatever her little heart desires at the expense of the Democratic Party.

That's a nice way of putting it John. I would call them crocodile tears.
