AMERICAblog: Hillary's silence

  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
I was thinking much the same thing today: If Hillary confronts the skank biscuit directly, it becomes a media cat fight: An on-line WWF with all the mouth breathers going for the skank biscuit. It would also suck all of the air out of the actual presidential campaign, which would be to The Gelding's benefit, but bad for Obama.

I think the wise course of action is for Hillary to campaign for Obama, but ignore the skank biscuit.

    John,

The GOP convention is only over for one day. Give it time. And please don't lead this blog into more Hilary bashing.

It's best if Hillary takes a bit time to asses the enemy's strengths so she knows just where to drop the bombs.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Hillary should engage Palin to test her mettle in the event Hillary has to take her on in 2012 or 2016.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Bill and Hillary were there when the economy was good. No president has complete control over that, but the Clinton/Dem years were gooood and she need to hammer that home. Also Chelsea has never been pregnant, and she's what- 25?
If you vote Family Values, you have to listen to Hillary- Best White House Mom since Rosalind Carter...
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Their is a real good reason why Chelsea is not pregnant and it has nothing to do with family values.
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
Wow, when a post about Hillary gets 3 replies in 20 minutes, you know people are all Palin-ed out:-)
  • paulo · 1 year ago
It's time for Hillary to hit and hit hard.

Obama can't lose anyone that wouldn't vote for him anyway and I can't think of anyone that would be so Hillary hating that it would lose Obama votes.

I mean do the Venn diagram: Hillary haters [UNION] Obama voters = what set?

Most are Obama devotees who Hillary can't turn off.

Hillary could chew Palin and McCain both up before a debate actually happen.

And I suspect all Obama has to do is ask.

    John,

I don't know if I read it on Politico or NY Times but they said that Hillary reached out to working class women and their pocketbooks. These are the women who hate Bush, hate the direction of the country. Obama can worry about the independents out west. Hillary needs to get these soft dems in Ohio, FL, and PA. I say leave her in Ohio for the next 60 days and have Obama pop in to see how things are going.
  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
Oh, I agree that Hillary should hit and hit hard: But not at Pallin. She needs to be the stately Saint Bernard that ignores the yappy Pomerainian. Or, if you prefer barroom metaphors, she should throw the chair at McCain, and not notice when one of the legs splinters off and hits Sarah.

Take Sarah out of the equation. Focus on McCain.
  • lampster · 1 year ago
    Dacnova-
Thank you, you said it exactly as I would have. Palin is no Hillary. I think it's important for HRC to make that point so that the lame-ass people who were Hillary supporters and are now voting for McCain-Palin instead of Obama-Biden have an opportunity to realize that they would be voting against their own best interest(s) if they do. I was a Hillary supporter and I'm now voting for Obama.

By the way, John - PLEASE don't start back up with your Hillary-obsessive hate-crap.
    Thanks.
  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
Hillary can't confront Palin directly - that turns it into a media circus and sucks the air out of the presidential campaign (good for McCain, bad for Obama)

She needs to be the stateswoman she is, and ignore the yappy pomerainian that Sarah Palin is. She needs to go after McCain.

Actually, the same is true of Biden and Obama as well. Ignore Sarah, as long as she refuses to appear unscripted.

You know, I just got a real burr under my saddle. This blog was nothing short of ABYSMAL toward Hillary Clinton during the primary, and now I'm reading posts and comments that suggest that she should, for example "hit it, and hit it hard". I think she owes Americablog nothing but the fucking middle finger. Explain to me, if you would be so kind, why anyone at Americablog is questioning anything she chooses to do. I agree that she should support Obama. However, AMERICABLOG should not be placing any pressure on her to take any action at all at this point, given its hostility to her in the past. Embarassing mistake.
  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
Lampster, I really don't think she cares either what what "americablog" thinks of her. This is about her being a smart politician. She has her future to think about, whether that be in the Senate, in another campaign, or someplace else.

How galling it must be for Hillary to think that this Eleanor Iselin of the Wal-Mart set feels that she can step in where she worked so hard. She needs to slap Sarah, but she can't take the risk of it turning into a Jerry Springer episode. If she's half as smart as I think she is, she realizes that she has to defend Obama, even if that means temporarily swallowing her pride. There's always 2012
  • Milli · 1 year ago
    Why should Hillary do this?

First, she has a vested interest in Obama winning. If he doesn't her job in the Senate, especially if she becomes Majority Leader, will be 10 times as hard if McCain is the president.

Second, she owes it to the Democratic Party to help Obama win. She was the one who endorsed McCain over Obama in the primaries and started this insane "puma" movement. They still think that Hillary's attack on Obama was personal assault on the man and not a political maneuver to try and force Obama out of the McCain-Hillary-Obama triangle. They still think Obama is the big bad black man who picked on their "woman", despite the fact that he was running a good campaign. And a lot more media outlets, besides Americablog, called her out on this. People act like Hillary was this innocent little victim. No, she played hardball and you can't whine about the criticism she received in return. She didn't lose because of her gender, she lost because she had awful campaign staff who advised her to do the WRONG things.

    Yeah, she OWES us this.
  • lampster · 1 year ago
Americablog established itself as her arch-enemy and now presumes to
    have suggestions for her. No.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
Oh yes we can. She asked Obama and us to help pay off her campaign debt. Millions of dollars? Favors are certainly in order.

And again, she did something to cause our anger which, despite repeated attempts to explain WHY we are angry, isn't registering with some people. She made a mess in the party that may affect the election. She better damn well help fix it.

Pit Bulls take offense to Palin's comparison.

Pit Bulls are not political opportunists.

Pit Bulls are not ideology spewing creatures.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
Hillary is the best person to attack this woman. She is more skilled at what she does than Palin. She needs to push Palin's buttons and get her to self-destruct. Obama and Biden can't do that. Obama needs to get Hillary to do this. Whatever he has to give her in exchange would be worth it.

Why is it this hard just to get someone decent in the White House? This is unbelievably tiring.
  • lampster · 1 year ago
I agree, Happy Housewife, however AMERICABLOG was the site of an ugly, all-out assault on Hillary during the primary. I find it distasteful that this should be a forum in which anyone suggests what she should be doing now. AMERICABLOG trashed Hillary. Now there are posts and comments showing up, suggesting what she should and shouldn't be doing about Sarah Palin. I think that's unacceptable.

I am a former Hillary supporter who supports Obama-Biden now. I hope Hillary helps us out when and where she can with regard to Sarah Palin. However, AMERICABLOG is not a forum from which I expect to hear 'suggestions' or pressure.

Lord people, they have been announcing for almost 2 weeks that Hillary was going to start in Florida this week. You know after the conventions are over, kinda like Obama and Biden have not really done any campaigning until yesterday and today. Joe maybe you should read a newspaper or watch a newscast once in a while. The whole blogosphere is a bit myopic and impatient.
  • lampster · 1 year ago
All that said, I actually agree with John & Joe that Hillary probably won't make any difference with the people who really support Palin: Evangelicals who think democrats are the antichrist. I hope Hillary makes the point that Palin is not going to help women, minorities or poor people. That way, the only people Palin can attract are evangelical women and young(er) blue collar guys.
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
I think Hillary can only help. She needs to go to places where she did well and tell those people why Obama is better than McCain/Palin. She needs to reassure those voters that loved her and feel that they are now wavering between Obama and McSame.

And when is Bill going to hit the stump?? Is he really not going to be deployed?? I'd send him to places like Florida, Ohio, PA and Indiana. If he stays on message, he can help as well. Hell, Chelsea too.
  • Smarmy · 1 year ago
Insome strange way, Sarah Palin is the RESULT of Hillary.

I think Hillary would deepen the mess and cause more animosity. And when things got too tough for her, she'd send out old Billy to do her fighting for her.

And if you don't think that her people are behind taking votes FROM Obama, there's a lot of mental growth that needs to be done.
