AMERICAblog: House GOP Leader Boehner on Nancy Pelosi: "The American people are gonna hang her”

  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
A man has made a credible threat against the Speaker of the House. He needs to be arrested immediately and prosecuted using the PATRIOT act.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
He should talk. Even though I do not like Speaker Pelosi's kow-towing to the president's whims and even though she took impeachment off the table and is surely dragging her anchor on impeachment trying to run out the clock, Boehner should start looking over his own shoulder as well. He is also responsible for the current condition of this country and should be the last person to throw stones at another. If I were him, I would be low-key and try hiding from my own constituents this November and when he next comes up for election.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    Re Kowtowing:
Perhaps the reason not to pursue impeachment or other crimes (whatever happened to Fitzpatrick, for instance?) is this: if there are no charges or convictions, there can be no pardons. If we get justice, it may be delayed and take place in some kind of war crimes trials.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Sorry, there can be pardons without charges or convictions. Richard M. Nixon comes to mind.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
There was a charge, voted on by the House Judiciary committee.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Thinking a bit more about this: The House J. committee at that time came up with a string of "charges" and voted yes on one. Thereafter the smoking gun surfaced and Nixon resigned. There was no indictment by the full House, but there were charges.
I think if the subject had never come up, there would have been nothing for Ford to pardon. I don't think the Pres. can pardon for any crime that may have been committed.
I don't recall the discussions on the ability of a Pres. to pardon himself.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Perhaps, not himself, but one can recall G.H.W.Bush pardoning a bunch of his cabinet advisors. e.g. Casper Weinberger, for one. This Bush has already pardoned "Scooter" Libby and it wouldn't surprise me to see him pardon, Cheney for all the crimes associated with him. I do think a person has to be charged first before he can pardon them. Are there any legal experts in the audience?
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
As I recall, Weinberger had been indicted.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
He was quickly pardoned for perjuring himself by Pappa Bush. I can't remember the others who were in the same boat. The pardons quickly, stopped all jurisprudence going in that direction.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
I think Bush was completely pissed because the indictment(s?) were handed down just before the '92 election. Bush's actions were not seen, at least by Dems, as anything but part of a cover- up---as I recall.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
    I think you are correct.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Those were impeachment charges, not criminal charges.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
The charges were all either criminal or civil. Being an accessory to a break-in probably falls under the heading of criminal. At the time, "lying to the American people" was considered akin to perjury by legal experts. The "smoking gun", if I remember correctly, was Nixon on tape as participant in the planning of the break-in or at least knowing about it and not stopping it.

    One can only hope.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Well am not crazy for Pelosi either but she finally has grown some balls. Better yet she took Boehner's balls. Correct me but isn't this the same whiner that always cries? Boy have times really changed.

    Woman grows balls= Pelosi

    Man loses his balls=Boehner

Now I don't want my gay friends getting mad at me. I am just calling this idiot out.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
No worries, though I am still looking to see where Pelosi's cojones are located. They aren't in the normal area of her "Constitution." ;-)
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Hi Butch, they moved up to her chest. Haaaaaaahaaaaaa
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
It that where they went?! ;-)
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Yep, it goes to show you his balls weren't that big. hhhhhhhaaaaaaa
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Especially, if she's wearing them as jewelry! ;-) Now there's a whole new meaning of "trophy wife."
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
am still laughing. I can't top that one. Love getting on this blog. You guys have such a wicked sense of humor. It passes the time in this small rural town.
  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
Glad to be of help. Sometimes, we get a little "slap-happy" or is that "hap-slappy?!"

    Boehner is an alien.

He requires more sun rays like a reptile than is possible on our sun's planet. So he gets them at Tan-Ray.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Too odd for comment, I think. That's the kind of remark that should be reported to the authorties complete with a media release kit.

Rethug rats are leaving the sinking ship in droves. I guess Boehner is all they can get for minority leader.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Yeah your right hawk but they end up on K street doing the american people alot of damage.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    True.
When he gets there, I hope to god Obama has the political capital and high polls to take on Rethugs and the dimmest Dems re limiting the activities of lobbyists.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
I pray that to. He is only one man. I don't know. I don't know how old you are but if you remember Jimmy Carter. They laughed at him because he came in and wanted to clean up some of the mess.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Honey, I am 72 and attended FDR's 4th Inauguration as a pigtailed almost 9 year old. The back lawn of the White House was covered in snow that day and I wanted to build a snowman with some other kids. My mother said no, gripped my hand and said "Stand still and listen. This is history."

So, I took an interest in politics at about that time and remember all of them since then.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Well Hawk I didn't know you were that old. Am 60. I don't remember that far back. I remember Ike. But most of my childhood I spent overseas until I was 12 and we came back to the US. I remember living in Europe when americans were really well respected. We travelled across borders and people would run up to our car and just were so impressed. We were so proud to be americans and respect our xourtry. When we got back that was the first time I ever saw TV. I remember JFK a truly good man and hero since I was a catholic. Hell even know Nixon doesn't look so bad next to these crooks and liars.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
You've had a very interesting life.
And yes, looking back now on some of the Presidents I didn't care for in the past---well, now I like, or at least respect them. Carter is a case in point.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
I feel maybe Obama can bring some of that pride back. He is so smart. Right now this country needs someone like that. The last few presidents left office not much to be proud of. Well maybe Carter wasn't. They made fun of him when he suggested people put sweaters on. Plus he left with his honor intact.

  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago

Aren't these the same Republicans who were claiming that oil prices were dropping because of their political grandstanding?

And one must remember - in ConservativeWorld, this is only a nation of laws that applies to the peasants - not themselves, who were created by God to rule over others.
  • kevinbgoode · 1 year ago
Todays Republican Party should change their name to "Desperate Housewives"

    Such drama queens.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Hey! I love that show. <g> Don't knock one of my favorite shows.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
OH WOW THAT IS FUNNY. LOL
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
A lot of politicians in Washing are way, way ahead of Pelosi in line to be hung, starting with Bush and Cheney, but also Bohner. I don't like Pelosi, believe she took impeachment off the table because she and so many other Democrats were complicit, but the ones who actually committed the crimes belonged to the other party. If they do hang Pelosi, Bohner will be observing it from the other side of the pale having preceded her to the gibbet (?) as he is far, far more deserving.
  • RevDrBillyBob · 1 year ago
Why is Ol' John Boner a-sayin' such narsty thangs about someone who's been such a strong ally of our President ?
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
How long will America have to endure the idiocy of John Boehner? The voters of his district need to get rid of him now. It's long overdue.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
FORGETABOUTIT. It ain't gonna happen. Unless he reaches in the pockets of his constituency they won't get rid of him. Just like in KY with McConnell.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Yeah, also agree that Republicans are grand standing demanding offshore drilling. It will make no demonstrateable difference to the price of gasoline as will take at least ten years for that gasoline to come on line. They say, at best, it will reduce the price of gasoline by 5 cents, but that is at best and far more likely that it won't have any effect at all except on the profit lines of the greedy oil companies. The cost is far better invested in renewables, solar and wind energy to make us independent of energy from petroleum. And, at worst, if there is another spill the cost could be very high, which the oil companies will try to shirk their responsibility as they did with the Exxon Valdez in Alaska.

The other reality is that Republicans support the worst solutions to the energy shortage. Offshore drilling is a very bad idea, but then another very bad idea is nuclear energy since that is 4 times the cost of other sources of energy, is extremely dangerous and then presents the problem of disposal of the radioactive waste products. Bush says that Iran wants nuclear energy to produce refined uranium for nuclear weapons. The same is true for Bush and our military, they want more nuclear reactors because that will produce more uranium and more plutonium for nuclear weapons to terrorize the rest of the world and remain the world bullies, the renegade nation of the world. We don't need the nuclear weapons we have let alone new ones. The Soviet Union is gone and if we don't make the rest of the world hate us, no one would be inclined to want war with our country. Nuclear energy has really zero to do with solving the current energy shortage.
  • gumbygirl · 1 year ago
Alabama had to shut down a reactor today because the cooling towers have electrical problems. Here's hoping it's not China Syndrome dangerous; I live in Alabama!!!
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    Right you are.
Rethugs don't want an energy policy, or they would have developed and passed one in the last 7 years.
Unless you call giveaways to the oil companies an energy policy.

Back in 1940, I think the movie that Charlie Chaplin stared in was called the Great Dictator. After watching this segment, you might come away from it thinking that way back then he was warning us of things to come.
Check it out. It's an eye opener and his dialog is just a precient today as it was back ten.

What would happen if Pelosi said the American people are gonna hang Boehner?

    All Republicans are un-American slime.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    Good question!
  • paulbe · 1 year ago
The American people probably SHOULD hang her, but not for the reasons scum like Boehner would give. As long as impeachment remains off the table she continues to betray her electors.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
oh you know republicans have no problem "strangin' up" anyone who gets uppity. Women folk, coloreds, Mexicans, etc. If they forget their place...there is a rope or burning cross with their name on it.

This is just a Goddamned shame. how do they get away with this?
  • smallhandff · 1 year ago
What I find particularly irksome about this topic is that in a land where civil rights are viewed as "special rights" and a federal hate crime statute for gay-bashing has yet to be enacted,; we have a protected, entitled class of "elites", who deny to others legal protections they enjoy.

Meanwhile, there are dozens of instances where Republican politicians & their drones have made threatening remarks against Federal officials. Not once have they been paid a FBI visit.

    Memo to Boehner:
While it is true that many of us are less than pleased with Pelosi's reticence to procede against Bush & Cheney, among many, rest assured that when the American people get moving, you, Mr. Boehner, and your crooked and dishonest republicon cronies, will be going up the steps to the gallows way before Pelosi!
  • paulbe · 1 year ago
"rest assured that when the American people get moving"

Been waiting eight years for them to "get moving". Too late for revolution now people. They're ready for you.

Hang the ignorant bitch!! Wouldn't that frozen BOTOX face of Pelosi's look funny when it hit the end of the hang[person]'s ] (hee, hee! It's PC!) noose (No doubt a union member!)
