AMERICAblog: How can any pundit claim McCain has the "higher ground" on campaign finance? Only by ignoring McCain's criminality on campaign finance.

Illegal and criminal shouldn't be that hard for Joe and Jane Public. Letting MCain slide on this since February is infuriating.

Totallly AGREE on the campaign finance "talking points" being spewed by the traditional media.

By the way, just read more about how Obama is "considering Sam Nunn" as veep. WARNING TO OBAMA CAMP: Sam Nunn is a DEVISIVE FIGURE and will TURN OFF many progressives. DO NOT pick Sam Nunn. I repeat, DO NOT pick Sam Nunn.

In fact, I dislike Sam Nunn so much that if he DOES pick him as Vice President, I will stay home. He will lose my support and I will become NEUTRAL. I know there are PLENTY OF OTHERS out there like me. The Obama campaign better just stop with the whole Sam Nunn thing if they want to keep the fire in his supporter's belly. Sure, they might pick up a couple of gay haters in Georgia by picking Nunn but they will LOSE MORE supporters than they gain.

WASHINGTON - Former Sens. John Edwards and Sam Nunn are on a list of potential running mates for Democrat Barack Obama, a congresswoman said Thursday, one day after she met with members of Obama's team vetting possible candidates.

Russ Feingold didn't even mention McCain's problem with the FEC when he issued a statement critical of Obama's decision. I lost respect for him.

    Criminal = Maverick!

99% of the electorate won't give a shit about any of this; and at least 50% won't even understand what's been going on--hence McCain's criminal conduct re: campaign finance not getting an inch of traction.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I remembered IMMEDIATELY McCain was facing criminal illegaility regarding campaign finance as SOON as I heard the media news readers blathering and criticizing Obama's leaving the public finance system. I couldn't remember the details Joe mentioned in above post, but I remembered the HUGE controversy we had chatted about here at Americablog and elsewhere on blogs. WHY COULDN'T THE PUNDITS REMEMBER? Are we that much more intelligent or do they have an "agenda?" Which is it?

Thank you for posting this. It's truly maddening and the silence is deafening. I see few, if any, refutes, retorts, or just plain old accurate representation of the facts.

    Thank you Americablog!

We are on our last throes.

If someone in my administration is involved in the CIA leak, I will fire them.

    The economy is fine.

McCain has the higher ground in campaign finance.

See a pattern with these republiCONs?

The political talk shows spend all their time focusing on what they perceive as Obama's problems.

I am going to take a vacation from them.

Ditto---I'm shutting down all of it post Tim...I'll check headlines on cable at randon or dvr thru the morning shows to find the interviews with the Obama people or the bits of real news.

McSame-Bush fell back into his own doo a while back and still can't get the smell off of himself. What is becoming a concern for me is Obama's VP committee is looking favorably at former Sen. Sam Nunn. What is wrong with these people? Sam Nunn is totally offensive the gay and lesbian people period. Have we such short-term-memories that we have forgotten his homophobic submarine tour successfully helping the republicans make President Clinton sign DOMA? If we are really going to do something about Don't Ask, Don't Tell, we had better make sure this old man is not selected as VP. That is going backwards. If Obama is truly serious about change, he needs to stay away from these homophobic dinosaurs and pick someone who truly represents change and will help him. Enough of the old guard trying to get back into power, I want real change!

Sam Nunn will cause a whole lot of us far left liberals to yawn and stay home. Obama's handlers may think Nunn will deliver the rednecks in the red states. He won't. Bill Richardson is my choice....delivers the latinos hook line and sinker and he's a great statesman
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Sam Nunn is a total non-starter. Dude, you shot yer wad awhile back when you bashed us. There is no way in hell's hades we will accept you anywhere never the ticket.

I like either Edwards or Richardson.

but Obama's decision to opt out of the financing system

That line from Cilizza says it's right there, he's framing the whole issue from the perspective of McCain. Candidates don't opt OUT of the system, they opt IN, which is what McCain did, then he reversed himself while not going through the proper channels. This is a perfect example of a lazy media figure accepting the Republican frame of reference with no attempt to understand the entire story.
