AMERICAblog: How ICE killed an immigrant in federal custody by letting him die of "undiagnosed and untreated" cancer

  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Why is it the fault of the USA that an illegal immigrant died in custody? I don't get your point. Should they have sent him back to Hong Kong? Don't you think they tried? We've got enough diseased citizens of our own to worry about without crying over some lawbreaker from Hong Kong...

Busboy is a perfect example of why the right wing thoroughly disgusts, revolts and sickens us. He is proudly bigoted, barbaric and hateful. The human race evolved beyond his kind behind 10,000 years ago when we gave up human sacrifice, cannibalism and head hunting. Busboy is a throw back to a more atavistic human ancestor. So very sad that he doesn't fit in our modern world. I'm sure he is very angry and frustrated that the modern world confuses him.

throwbacks get together and promote their own kind. this is, and always has been, the challenge to civilization. nobody said it would be easy.

busboy, you are incredibly heartless! You must be a republican ahole.

I see my country becoming more and more heartless, xenophobic and cruel. I wonder how those who fought and died for our higher ideas and what we use to be would feel about the country we have become.

I guess that they need to change this inscription now:
"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

This is not an isolated story. I suspect it goes on very frequently. One of the stories I heard was a 17 year old girl who had AIDS. They imprisoned her as an illegal immigrant, took away her medications and let her die of her AIDS. They also locked her up with males inmates hoping they would rape her, but of course, the so-called illegal immigrants were far too decent and civilized to behave as barbarically as the immigration agents who spit on her and yelled at her to die. Her family was legal and they repeatedly contact the immigration service to get medical treatment for this girl, but our "legal" agents refused to allow her to receive treatment. Her mother even repeatedly brought her medication to the lock up, but the agents took it away and denied her the medication. The family also contacted the Mexican government and ICE stonewalled them.

GOLLY, whatever happened to that wonderfully Compassionate Conservative George Bush who wanted to help all of those MEXICAN immigrants last year?

Oh yes, his own party (and administration) wouldn't allow themselves to pass those laws. The Republicans must be so proud...
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
oh dear god. this is not how you treat people! that story is heart wrenching. Why is it his stories remind me of the treatment some of our vets are getting?

I want my country back and I want it back NOW!
It has been hijacked by thugs and replaced by a nation run by heartless bastards.

Mrs.Ng, I am so sorry. And ashamed. And totally pissed off.

I am about to light an incense in honor of a friend of my sister. His own sister just died.

Now I will light in in honor of her and Mr. Ng.

It really saddens me to realize that there is evil and inhumanity in this world. Karma always does catch up with "people" like that.

My heart goes out to all these people who have suffered because of the INHUMANITY of evil people in our country. again, I know they will get their KARMA.

meanwhile we are all citizens of the world no matter what anyone will say. I quote a great director:

"I believe that human beings are born first and given passports later," Cuaron has said.

Busboy fits right into the Bush Crime Family's definition of a "compassionate conservative" which means he cares about himself and nothing else.

George Bush has made us the land of the disenfranchised and the home of the callow.

yet again I am ashamed of my country as a result of the idiot child pResident.

This has not been limited to the Bush administration. This type of mistreatment and death during "detainment" of immigrants has been going on for decades. Detained immigrants are regularly assaulted in our system, women are raped, and this has been going on for years. If you really want to blame something, blame the 1996 IIRIRA and AEDPA, legislation which greatly increased who can be detained (indefinitely, even), and didn't call for any oversight of INS/ICE detention affairs. It's made worse by the fact that many detention facilities are actually private or local prisons with whom ICE contracts (again, this has been going on since long before Bush) and there's almost no oversight for them.

I hate Bush, but this is one place where the blame really can't be laid at his door. It's simply what happens when people are locked up in prisons with prison jumpsuits and prison guards for being here out of status. We need a complete overhaul of the immigration system in order to fix this problem. I have almost no faith that an Obama administration would do any better; it's a structural problem, not an administrative one.
