    There is already someone running against her. Sheenan just threatened to run against her and did nothing to secure that position.

    It was a suicide mission anyway. The last I noticed, Pelosi carried her district by about 80%.
    I think it's a good idea to keep incumbents on their toes, but IMO, if you make a threat, you need to be able to move forward with it.

    I think Sheehan's most important and powerful role was as a legitimately aggrieved Gold Star Mother who had lost a son. Once she got into candidacy politics, she lost some or all of that power.
    I am very sympathetic to her anger and, of course, her dreadful grief. I miss her awesome voice that served to humiliate Bush.

    The only thing the American public will remember about Obama's trip this week is the HUGE ovation he got from the soldiers there. Far more enthusiastic than any reception McCain or Bush have ever gotten there.

    I imagine someone in the Republican headquarters is now wondering how much they'd have to PAY a crowd of soldiers to get them to applaud McCain that enthusiastically.

    They could probably get good results at a Marine air base in Florida, but for the most part, I think McSame would have a rather tepid response.

Barack Obama (D-IL) left for Afghanistan, Iraq and Western Europe for a tour of US bases overseas, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice issued a cable to US missions forbidding them from holding events for presidential candidates or arrange meetings for them.

    Rice issued no such cable prior to foreign excursions by presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

    Something so delectable turned into something so derogatory - I don't like the use of the word either, but I completely understand wanting to use its vulgar meaning to describe Condi. But it's verboten and I thank John for this policy.

    I just wanted you to know so I don't miss any of your comments :) You are a wonderful addition to these threads.

    I thought political opponnents weren't supposed to critize their opponent when either one was out of the country?

    We weren't supposed to critize Bush when he leaves the country......HOW COME McCain critizies Obama?
