AMERICAblog: Idaho GOP gubernatorial candidate jokes about hunting Obama (But, it was just a joke)

  • mf_roe · 4 months ago
If humans last another hundred years they will understand that WWII may have been lost by the Nazis but was won by the Fascists. America lost her soul after the war, we have done more to destroy ourselves than any external enemy could have. We are a full fledged Fascist nation and with the actions of the repugs we are headed to a level just as low as the Nazis. Mob rule is always the result of letting the loudmouths, the extremists, and the greedy to command the debate. The only thing missing at this point is the Supreme Leader.

The frightening thing is that they want one. Palin might have been one, but she's dumb even by republican standards. Heaven forbid some white Christian articulate midwestern candidate, with a homey touch, and a full-fledged neo-con agenda who hasn't fucked his mistress or the pool boy, we're in trouble.

Hmm...this piece of sh*t's contact page is down. Wonder why.

We are paying you to be serious. If you want to joke go to the Apollo, because you're in the wrong field. These are tax dollars, quit fuckin laughing. We really do need to put our politicians in their place.

A common tactic of those who can not make a winning argument is malicious humor. It is common because it is effective. Often it is used when valid arguments do exist, Bill Maher, The daily show, etc. Let them open the Pandora's box of humor they are more vulnerable to ridicule than we.

Touche, but is it really a joke? The entire republican party is joking about killing the president right now. Is that really joking? Think about the amount of innocent jokes about the death of our president, is it funny anymore?
  • mf_roe · 4 months ago
I understand, but unless Obama tells the Dept of Homeland Security, the current home of the Secret Service, to do their job it will continue. Failure to confront Brownshirt tactics only validates those tactics. Allowing thugs to take center stage is worse than the thugs themselves.
  • canuck55 · 4 months ago
Just think of the instant takedown by the secret service if anyone spoke of getting a Reagan tag.
Oh well, being Canadian, back to the third period of the hockey game (yes we watch them in the summer too).
We have winter and then four months of bad ice.

To think that this community never suggested "tagging" BushCheney. We are more christian than those bastards.

The Republicans are per se immoral.

You talk about huntin' and shootin' if you got a small johnson or it don't work. Suddenly having a gun is what makes you feel like a man.

And where is the very public, ugly Secret Service or FBI arrest of this guy? I think a frogmarch is in order.

The no fly list should be the first step.

From Rex's web page, he became a veterinarian after his LDS missionary work in Tokyo but stopped being a vet for unknown reason and became an elk farmer. Never a politician. Closest he's got to politics seems to have been making a stink about permits for his elk ranch.
  • mf_roe · 4 months ago
Elk ranch as in captive hunting or alternative meat source? Hunting is to captive hunting ranches as love is to a whorehouse.
  • thaneb · 4 months ago
    Dear mf_roe
Don't know much more about this goon. He seems just perfect for the right's "great white hope." You're so right about captive "hunting" ranches.
    My best, thaneb
    PS A prayer for Teddy

I like the part where he says he "would never support [Obama] being assassinated."

Really? That's the best you can do? You can't come right out and condemn such talk or such an idea?

Oh right. The base. The base wouldn't go for that.

You know, it's because of these crazies in the GOP that dishonestly trying to recast Ted Kennedy as a "centrist" -- as Orrin Hatch, John McCain and Judd Gregg have been doing -- now passes as "elder statesmanship."

A pox on the whole freaking lot of them.

Living in Idaho (sorry) and listening to these bozos make comments about the President amazes me how so many Idahoans made it out of their caves. Many of these right wing bigots actually believe Bush was a hero and of course the only part of the deficiet that counts is that which pays for Bushes mistakes because of course he isn't to blame for the mess this country is in. The Repug leadership here would be standing next to Rex laughing if he was a real Repug but he's just someone with money who wants to look importants...he has no chance even here in Idaho

Only a barbarian would joke about hunting the president. But that's what the Republican party has become--a bunch of ignorant barbarians.

There are things that are funny and things that aren't. This isn't.
  • xxxevilgrinxxx · 4 months ago
This isn't remotely funny, not given America's history with assassination. Not funny at all
  • barts · 4 months ago
The talk won't subside until somebody gets killed.
