AMERICAblog: If McCain is going to attack Mrs. Obama, he probably shouldn't use his drug addict/thief wife as the messenger

  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
    It seems to me very ill-advised for the McCain camp to attack the lovely and brilliant Mrs. Obama -- it just opens the door for attacks on Mrs. McCain? Are they trying to bait our side into going after Cindy?
  • AnalyticalLiberal · 1 year ago
    Some things never change: the corporate media control all things we hear, see, and read about our "politics;" Rethugs will lie and smear all they can; and, most especially, IOKIYAR.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    If she was poor and black, she'd probably be spending 5 to 10 behind bars.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
    If she went to trial, she would had gotten a stiffer punishment, but she was a first time offender, she pleaded down to a lesser charge, etc. What was interesting about the case, is the Feds can be relentless wolves on prescription forgeries and abusing DEA licenses as Cindy McCain did with her charity.

    Personally, she made a deal, she accepted and did her punishment. I think it should be left alone. It shouldn't be if John McCain is asking for the death penalty for drug dealers, or harsher sentences for first time offenders. Then her deal should be kicked around for all its worth.
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
    There was never any evidence Cindy completed or even went to rehab.

    she might have been privately treated by her doctors, but she should have completed what the court ordered, at the very least.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
    She had to go to court ordered NA meetings, and she probably checked herself into rehab before she made a deal to show her good intent to treat this problem before her sentence.

    Did she get off with a slap on a wrist? she got off very lightly, given forging prescriptions is a very serious offense, and abusing DEA drug license is very serious. If she went to trial, she would had gotten some serious probation to jail time. If the Feds wanted to nail her for forging prescriptions and demand she pleaded guilty, they probably could had done this...

    However, she made a deal, she did her punishment, she hasn't been in trouble since. So I guess I am willing to let this pass. However going after Gosinski to get criminal charges against him, should be looked at, The McCains used some very heavy hitters to go after Gosinski.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    I think a druggie like Cindy McCain shouldn't be allowed 50 feet near a school.

    Realistically, she probably had enough to be classified as a dealer.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
    A failed candidacy like McCain's can't do much except throw mud and talk sleeze. The summer hasn't quite got launched yet, solstice is tomorrow, and already the long hot season is upon us. It doesn't look all that much different from Hillary's attacks on Obama so what's their plan? Just for the oligarchy to continue the smears until November? That plan has worked before, we need to identify it and call it by its true name: Jealousy.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
    Indigo I think this is so spot on. And I have this gut feeling that this mud sling fest is not going to work this time. People are burned out from the Rove school of campaigns. I think McCain is getting very poor advice...GOOD!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    i really hope the Obama camp doesn't react by trying to make Michelle into something she's not...like a GOPer stepford wife...which i don't think would be possible anyway...

    the point is, Michelle Obama is a particulary capable, intelligent, gorgeous, strong woman and that's how she comes across. no wonder Cindy's going after her.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    The Perot-McCain relationship goes back to McCain's five and a half years of captivity in Hanoi. When McCain's then-wife Carol was in a serious car accident, McCain's mother called Perot for help. "She asked me to send my people to Philadelphia to take care of the family," Perot says. Afterwards, McCain was grateful. "We loved him [Perot] for it," McCain told me in 2000.

    Perot doesn't remember it that way. "After he came home, he walked with a limp, she [Carol McCain] walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona [Cindy McCain, his current wife] and the rest is history."

    If by some miracle McCain becomes president, Cindy will be the first negative First Lady role model for American girls. "See that woman on tv? That's what you DON'T want to be like when you grow up."

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This was the entire post from a small, anti-McCain, Conservative blog:
    "How old is John McCain?
    He’s so old that his young-enough-to-be-his-daughter trophy wife, for whom he dumped the woman who loyally waited for him while he was a POW, is old."
    McCain's support among GOP women shows cracks
    (06-18) 21:58 PDT San Francisco -- The challenges facing Sen. Barack Obama as he tries to woo supporters of former rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton could pale in comparison with Sen. John McCain's troubles with female voters - if the voices of a growing number of prominent Republican women are any indication.
    Ah well, maybe it's good they're putting Cindy out there.
    She seems to be the kind of woman most other women wouldn't like, especially when compared with Michelle.
    I mean, Cindy's a born-rich, husband-stealer for starters.......
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
    Oh here in Dallas she'd be their heroine. Facelifts, tit lifts, ass lifts, botox, big hair, dressed and dripping in faux Chanel, does her shopping at Nieman Marcus (New York City gals would not get caught dead in Nieman shit.) She'll do very nicely thank you in Dallas and Houston.
    Cindy IS jealous...there's absolutely NOTHING on Michelle, and I'll bet Mrs. McBush wishes she could cite a childhood where Michelle's father, who had multiple sclerosis and walked on crutches, went to shift work every single day, instead of one who was mobbed up and taught his daughter how to act criminally--unlike Michelle, who was taught to make the best of her life and did so by graduating from Harvard Law on her own merits, instead of trying to be the Rodeo Queen of Arizona, stealing another woman's husband, and becoming a drug addict, all things Michelle avoided in her intelligently thought-out life.
    Michelle would be an excellent example for young girls and women everywhere to model themselves after, not the vacuously blonde Mrs. McBush.
  • ekwhite · 1 year ago
    Obama has already said he won't go after Cindy McCain, and would denounce anyone who did. What they did do was put Michelle Obama on "The View." I saw a clip of it last night, she rocked! Even Elizabeth Hasselbech (however you spell her name) was eating out of her hand.
    Let's all pray for John McCain. He's been seduced by some some drug addicted corporate vamp and reduced into becoming a tool for the power elites. Somebody do a family intervention before it's too late. Oops. It's too late.
    I mean, with all due respect, what moral authority does Cindy McCain have to start throwing stones at Mrs. Obama?
    Isn't that obvious! Cindy McCain is white, Michelle Obama is Black. Isn't that a massive, massive moral advantage. You going to believe the word of N---- over the word of a white woman? What are you a traitor, lover of terrorists, enemy of the great nation of Merika, enemy of the 4th Reich, hates the white race? Good grief! Any real, red blooded, true blue, God-fearing Merikanisher knows that Mrs. McCain has all the moral authority she needs.
    Michelle Obama was born in 1964. Let's say she considers her adult life to have begun at 16. That's Reagan, Bush !, Clinton, Bush II. There wasn't a great deal that America did during those years that was considered universally and unequivocally pride worthy, except by some who drank the Koolaid. Cougar McCain can't believe Ms. Obama didn't find herself all swelled up with pride over Iran/Contra, pardoning of the perps, a half assed GWI, DADT, a badly flawed NAFTA, or anything in the last 7.5 years? McCain mere is still on drugs.
  • ggm1957 · 1 year ago
    MoonDragon, I hadn't even thought of it that way, but I was born in 1957 and there wasn't a whole lot to be proud of by the time I reached adulthood.
  • MoonDragon · 1 year ago
    Hi,
    I go back a bit further (1952) and, while growing up, was very pround of
    what my country stood for. It's what's been done in the name of America
    since I was a teenager that sometimes makes me weep. I have a button on
    my wall of snark at work that reads "I'm glad I'm an American. I'm just
    not always proud." It infuriates me when people take pride in American
    arrogance, bullying, and general disrespect.
    I do tend to be proud of Americans who do amazing things in the spirit
    of what I was taught were American values (Space program, Peace Corps,
    anti-war movement activities, Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross volunteers
    at disaster sites...)
    I think we all know they don't have anything else. They cannot debate the issues because they created most of the problems. All they have is fear mongering, personal attacks, and of course all the material from Hillary that they plan on using. I didn't realize it was that much until I read this article
  • warsaw · 1 year ago
    I really like this story; it has everything anyone needs for a Jackie Collins novel if only one had the nerve to withstand all the criticism about cliches, melodrama, trash fiction, worthless beach read. And yet it's all true. Beautiful rich girl has to put up with verbally abusive, ambitious, ex-prisoner-of-war who crashed his plane because he's stupid, she turns to drugs to get out from under the pressure of herself being held hostage to his political needs, starts a non-profit to provide herself with junk, gets caught and is forever indebted to him for getting her off, becomes laughing stock of nation, goes back on drugs, loses looks, he loses election, she turns to chalk before the eyes of a cynical country, he blames everything on her, calls her a c--t in his concession speech.
    It could write itself. A neo-con love story. "Being a c--t means never having to say you're sorry."
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
    well done! hahhah
    Let me fiil in a few details:
    Loyal employee of the charity who has to cooperate with the feds, is caught between loyalty to Cindy and lying to investigators. Chooses to cooperate. Cindy is so mad she fires him!
    Being an average person who needs money and a good resume to live, he files a suit for wrongful job termination.
    Cindy fires back a counter suit for embezelment or blackmail!
    Thats how nice Cindy is! She learned her fathers mafia morality well...She has to protect her reputation at all costs!
    Then the poor doctor who got caught up in this mess looses his license to practice. Cindy stole his security codes, and forged prescriptions on his pads-then enjoyed every kind of legal lieniency for her crimes. But the Feds throw the book at this doctor and ruin his life, all he worked and studied hard for-years and years of education. Cindy does not stand up for the poor doctor. But someone has to be punished, right?
  • Argonaut · 1 year ago
    Guys guys guys - you're lowering yourselves waaaay too far on this one. Ms McCain said something stupid, maybe even malicious. That is no excuse to jump on her addiction, which she got after surgery, not after a bank holdup. Only someone who has been there can throw stones on this. We have so much ammunition on McSame we'll never run out. Drop the drugs.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
    Nonsense...How else to rub Cindy's smug little nose in poo? Are we to just stand back and allow the McStain machine to trash Mrs. Obama? We're the grassroots kiddo...there's fresh mown lawn in these jammies...If I wanna call Miss Cindy a Vicodiniac I will.
  • willow · 1 year ago
    "Patriots don't steal drugs from children"
    Patriots do all kinds of bad things when they're addicts. The snopes.com article says 'She also closed her medical charity'. Which means that the consequences of her actions were much graver than just the loss of the drugs she stole.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    i think the GOPers are displaying a Rovian game here...
    if the dems make a valid point like: McCain is using Cindy's private jet inappropriately, or Cindy should be open about her tax returns, the GOPers say that's an attack on Cindy...not fair not fair! Then they turn around and announce that Michell is fair game and personally attack her: she isn't proud of her country or she's an angry militant black bitch who does terrorist fist bumps and says whitey and looks mean.
    total bullshit.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
    We should be directing our outrage at Miss Kate Snow, RNC Mouthpiece, and ABC, an organization that is patently hostile to Obama.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
    Cindy McCain's drug addiction should be off limits, unless John McCain is stressing draconian punishments for drug users and first time offenders.. given she got a sweetheart deal for forging prescriptions...
  • okojo · 1 year ago
    What should be fair game, in my humble opinion, is how the McCains went after Tom Gosinski, the director of Cindy McCain's medical charity, and asked the County DA to file criminal charges against him for extortion. She not only fired him, but tried to have him thrown in jail for being a whistleblower, or an "extortionist" to prescription drug addicts' eyes.
  • jr · 1 year ago
    Cindy McCombover is fiending for some valium and they'll only give it to her if she attacks Michelle
  • julls · 1 year ago
    I don't like attacking drug addicted people , it is a mental case and that counts as a diease. But in all seriousness, Cindy does look like she is on some kind of downer, she makes Laura Bush look vibrant.
    I really don't feel as though she was attacking Michelle, she was just supporting her abusive husband. I actually feel sorry for Cindy, she looks sad and there is a story of hurt behind her sleepy eyes.
  • shell · 1 year ago
    However she looks, it is the surgeon's knife that makes that look. She has obviously had at least one face lift. Just look at her eyes. Slanted to the gills. Laura Bush, too. You can tell. Yet, all we hear is that HILLARY "might" have had plastic surgery? It would be laughable, if the country weren't in such bad shape. Hell, it is funny anyway.
    No, I don't feel a bit sorry for Cindy Pills. She is richer than god, and yet steals from poor children? That says it all.
  • shell · 1 year ago
    Cindy McCain can get away with this because the Obamas take the high road ... and, as usual, the GOP takes the sleeze road. This is not to suggest that the Dems should take the sleeze road, but they can just tell the truth, while the GOP lies over and over ... and the MSM says, "Well, they both say bad things, they're equal!" I will tell you, I have almost had it.
    And I get SO sick ahd tired of hearing people say, "Americans are SO BUSY working 2 jobs and raising a family, they haven't time to hear all this." Yes, they do. They sure had time to hear that Barack was a Muslim.
    As for Cindy Pills, she is an ultra skank. Just taken at face value, her last comment is outrageous -- she is PROUD of America? All other things aside, of course she is. She can steal drugs from poor, sick children, and not go to prison! Yet, millions of Americans languish in prison for using drugs and won't see the light of day for decades. This "war on drugs" is an utter sham.
    One other thing -- in addition to everything else, John McCain is a COWARD. I don't care that he was a POW 40 years ago. He is a thief and a fraud. And a female abuser. Enough! I realize America doesn't like him. All polls show Obama ahead of him, and that's even with the MSM's dubious polling.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
    I can write many insults about John McCain, and why I vehemently disagree on most issues with him, mainly Iraq. However the last thing anyone can call John McCain is a coward, he was tortured in Vietnam, he was offered many times to be let go, by the Vietnamese, in which he refused, unless all his other fellow prisoners were release. He fought the Republican Caucus on many issues, a big one was McCain/Feingold. He was the one that release the Jack Abramoff emails, that incredibly embarrassed the GOP, and many of Administration officials, like the Sec of Interior, who's right hand man was in bed with Abramoff..
    McCain shouldn't be President for many reasons, but the reasons should be valid arguments instead of petty insults. The guy is many things, but he isn't a coward.
  • shell · 1 year ago
    If he is so brave, then why does he send out Cindy Pills to do his dirty
    McCain isn't good sticking on message, he seemed to be having a very hard time keeping to the script. My guess Cindy McCain is better in this department.
    Both sides use proxies to do their dirty work, it hardly makes McCain a coward. Much like Hillary is a coward then for using Bill to campaign in South Carolina during the State's primary....
    Is it cowardice to steal Arizona Land Trust money from public schools to enrich his fat cat buddies and then get a kick back for his political campaigns?
    I mean, he could hold a damn fundraiser instead of stealing money from childrens education.
    Maybe not cowardice, just evil sloth and larceny?
  • okojo · 1 year ago
    Hypocrisy?, perhaps. Cynicism? McCain has always played very fast and loose with how his biggest supporters are major business interest, and much like Tom Friedman, lives in a bubble, where he want to make a name for himself, but lives off his wife's vast fortune.
    I also don't anything about the Arizona Land Trust deal you are writing about, but I will look it up to be more informed.
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
    okojo;
    Land Trust theft is a time honored way for politicians to make money in Arizona. My congresscritter, Rick Renzi, is under inditement from the FBI for EXACTLY the same kind of Land Trust deal McCain just completed in Yavapai County.
    Why McCain is not under the gun for this is beyond belief. They give their friends a sweetheart deal, usually a no bid or unfair trade deal on State land, then the 'buyer' kicks back with a big contribution to the campaign.
    Land Trust money funds the Arizona public schools. Wonder why we are 2nd to last in the nation for school testing, proficiency-just above Mississippi?
    Oops:
    "...stole drugs from the American Voluntary Medical Team, a mobile surgical unit she'd begun in 1988 to provide emergency medical services around the world."
    While this organization may provide emergency medical services around the world, that's not why she started it. She started it to have easy access to prescription drugs she could skim. Presumably, John McCain knew nothing about it all, because he was too busy with the Keating Five scandal to realize that his wife was all jacked up on pain killers.
