The Dems have no spin and will cave in on "protectionism." maybe we did the wrong thing by voting the Dems in. At least the Repubs would have made things even worse and would have triggered a revolution. The Dems in charge we will just muddle thru

Republicans are idiots. I don't just mean on policy I mean on *POLITICS* I mean, how on earth is their "Fuck American car companies!" campaign from last month supposed to help them politically, let alone from a policy perspective. Sensable people can see the downsides of protectionism but realize that it might help get the bill passed and we're all better off.
But the republicans are now ranting and raving about wanting to screw the American worker! It's like they're TRYING to commit suicide as a party!
The only problem is they may take the country down win their insanity, and then of course they hope people will blame the democrats and they'll be swept into power like in '94. They're basically insane.

If we had a reasonable social safety net then it would make sense to have globalization, but that would mean free money for black people, er, I mean "welfare queens" and we can't have that!

With Farm Subsidies and all the rest, there is noting BUT Protectionism going on. I never seen actual free and open markets, and I hope to the gods that I never do. Without careful management, Capitalism ensures an over-class of a few, with the vast majority of citizens slaving away 12+ hrs a day for the Plutocracy.

What an idiot. For his analogy to fit his stupid premise protectionism would be meth, not crack. Sure you can make crack on your American stove powered by American coal with American baking soda, but the main ingredient is an import.
Indeed we all must be high on something to want our nation to be self sustaining and our wealth, such as it is, to remain within our borders.

If "protectionism is crack," the pundits need new metaphors.
