    It's over. Congratulations Begich.
    See ya, Stevens.

    Door's closed, you idiot Palin'.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
And so is Stevens' door, but his has got bars on it!
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Yep. Begich will win. Besides Obama I'd been completely striking out on every campaign I've given to this election. This is a nice consolation prize!

    edit: Oops, forgot about Hagan.

    Great!

Now lets roll up our sleeves and defeat Senator Saxby Chambliss in Georgia. This weasel and chicken hawk disgraced the good service of Max Cleland, and decorated veteran who lost limbs in Vietnam. Chambliss was part of the Republican gridlock problem while the Republicans were in the majority. NOW, Chambliss is seen as the Republicans hope to defeat the Employee Free Choice Act.

Chambliss is anti-labor. For that reason alone, he should be defeated. But, of course there are many other reasons for defeating Chambliss.

    VOTE FOR JIM MARTIN!!!!

Now Alaska needs to send Palin back to the PTA in Wasila.

So as it stands there are 57 Democratic Senators (55 Dems + Sanders & LIEberman) in the next Senate right?

    If Begich wins, it's 58.
    If Franken wins, it's 59.
If Martin wins the run-off against Chambliss, that's 60?

Anyone else looking at Obama's conciliary attitude against LIEberman in a different light?

BegiCH, Franken, and Martin will win.

Cut a deal with Olympia Snow to go indy and caucus with the Dems,
AND KICK THAT FUCKING POS LOSERMAN TO THE CURB! HARD!

The real wild card here is the absentee. The US Army has a number of bases in Alaska, and service members normally break Republican about 6 to 4. However, the Army is largely African American, hence turnout could change that. Plus, the whole Convicted felon thing... Military members have a strong aversion towards people who break major rules and cannot follow codes. It will be interesting to see how the military voters split on this one.
  • pcvirginiabeach · 1 year ago
I would also add, military members also have a strong aversion towards weak leadership... that is the reason I think the Democrats have struggled with Military voters and veterans in the past. Democrats are strong on a lot of military issues, but very weak on their ability to fight and present the argument in a way that invokes leadership. That has changed with men like Webb in the Senate.... but the senior leadership like Reid= weak sauce. Service members do not respond well to people who are in charge, but do not take charge.

Looks like there'll be one less GOP criminal in congress.
