Who paid you to post this crap? Read a book for heaven's sake! You don't work for Ari Fleischer's professional bullshitters "freedoms Watch" or whatever they call themselves do you?
I was at the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai. My friend and I left on Monday to go on to New Dehli. Sadly the hotel was attacked 2 days later. We had angels protecting us.
Please pray for the city of Mumbai and India.
I will post again when I am back in the states.
Regards.
NAMASTE
P.S. if our "news" media is actually trying to inform Americans, why couldn't they just say "Bombay," the traditional, historical name that this Indian city has been called in the West for hundreds of years.
? I have been studying geography and world politics for over half a century, and I never heard of M--------- until someone said that it was the new name for Bombay.
Faced with housing shortages, mounting debt and a transport crisis, the city fathers came up with a political masterstroke – they changed its name. Previously, it had been called Bombay; now, they said, it would be Mumbai. The name is derived from the name of the Hindu goddess Mumbadevi, and was offered to an increasingly chauvinist Maharashtrian community by a right-wing Hindu fundamentalist city government. But, like most political impulses in India, it has changed nothing. The irony is that only foreigners have taken up the new name with any enthusiasm, believing they are catering to Indian sensibilities. Yet most Indians, even most Maharashtrians, continue to call the city Bombay.

Why should they change their name to satisfy US?
Last night, Musharraf still failed to order the closure of madrassas controlled by extremist groups. The promised reform in 2002, which Musharraf pledged at meetings with Bush and Blair in Washington and London, has not been implemented. Until the London bombings, neither leader had bothered to ask Musharraf why not, although both have given funding for education.
Madrassas controlled by militant Pakistani groups who work for al-Qa'eda continue to function freely. One of the largest extremist groups in the country, Lashkar-e-Tayyaba, has members who have helped al-Qa'eda. It now operates under a new name and has even changed the look of its largest madrassa complex to become a model it can show to the Western press. It's like the Earls Court motor show without the short-skirted models.
