That is awesome! I wish we the people could critic our leaders in this way. Pres Bush only selected people he would know would never criticize him when he went to speak and those who did were labeled traitors. However, it appears Obama is not above criticism from the right or left. Maybe Republicans and Iran actually do have something in common.

I remember that one. It was called "Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom" and it ended with some unfortunate doings at a public square in Peking that involved armormed vehicles. It was a long time ago.

I would consider this more likely to be driven by the Ahmedinejad/Khameni dynamic. Ahmedinejad had almost pushed the supreme leader off the stage by forcing him to back him in the election and then holding the 'recount' in such a way as to leave absolutely no doubt that the election was stolen.
I have no doubt it was a put up job. But the message that is being sent here is that the Supreme Leader is not 100% behind his President and would rather not end up dangling from a rope along with him.
I believe that Ahmedinejad's end game was that he hoped for an attack by the US and/or Israel. He would then claim that the attacks were directed by the opposition and eliminate them.
We now know that Margaret Thatcher tried to persuade Gorbachev not to allow the Berlin Wall to come down. I have no doubt that a similar calculation underlies the Likud/Neocon willingness to facilitate Ahmedinejad. They must realize that the chance of an attack would remove either the regime or the nukes is very small.
