AMERICAblog: IRONY ALERT: In big economic speech, McCain talks about "erratic politicians'

  • BerkeleyMom · 1 year ago
There is something wrong with McCain--I mean really wrong. I think he hears stuff all day and after a while he doesn't know where he heard it or in what context. He just heard it and he starts spitting it back out randomly. I don't think he is devoid of irony, he's just very very confused. Too old, too much coffee, not enough sleep, too much traveling--I don't know, but he is not appearing properly oriented.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
psychotic event triggered by lack of sleep, over use of Ambien and the cocktail of the other drugs and "nutritional supplements" he's on?
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
You hit the nail right on the head. He has been raiding Cindys medicine walk in closet.
  • BerkeleyMom · 1 year ago
I read on BagNews Notes yesterday that he doesn't eat much. Just coffee because he is too revved up. Coffee all day, constant travel, Ambien at night, more coffee in the morning to wake up. Doesn't seem like a long term plan for a 72 year old.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
sounds more like a twink preparing for the White Party.
  • michaelt · 1 year ago
they must sit around at meetings and say "hey i just got called erratic, let's accuse them of being erratic". Or, 'i just got caught abusing my power, let's accuse them of abusing power". it's just all too common a coincidence.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Oh great, they can't even use the "I'm rubber, you're glue" defense correctly, and they want us to trust the country in their hands??? LOL
  • nicho · 1 year ago
Does anyone read this stuff before he says it?

I can't believe his advisers would let him say that - but then I can't believe his advisers would let him name Wasilla Sally as VP candidates.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Jesus did Peggy Noonan come up with that shit? Or was it Rove? Mister Magoo, go back to Scottsdale and drown in your pool.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    Vegas... he looooooves Vegas.

actually, I could kinda picture him going out like that... floating in the pool of some cheap off-the-strip motel from a Cialis/Mai Tai overdose... the little umbrella from the spilled drink floating next to him... maybe an underage hooker passed out on the chaise?

    fitting.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
well before that I wanna see Ms Thang Cindy's head explode
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
she'll probably wind up dying in her sleep... like most addicts who are into pain killers.

    her epitaph?

"nobody told me vodka and Seconal wasn't a good idea"
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
"[T]e hard earned savings of Americans should not be penalized by the erratic behavior of politicians."
    ---

    yes! johnnyboy finally GETS it!

yes, this is why Obama's numbers are going up in RED states.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    This is too easy.

I can just now hear and see Barack up on the stage right now repeating this statement from McCain......I can hear Barack saying, "Come on now"

Can't you just see his facial expression...and the way Barack has a way of connecting to his audience.

    :)
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
"there you go again"...."are you better off than you were 8 years ago"

Like shooting fish in a barrel

    Dow opens sunstantially higher.

    McCain speaks on economy.

    Dow tanks -- now down.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
good to see he still has people listening to him!

gees... with a statement like that, I could almost qualify to work in his campaign.

    spin, spin, deny, repeat!
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
My god these people are too dumb to believe. This is as bad as Palin saying, in Troopergate, she did nothing unethical. My GOD these people are painfully stpid. I mean forget politics, this is just bizarre.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
Watch Rachel Maddow talking about this exact thing last night......I love her. Brilliant, brilliant. It's worth a look. MSNBC
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
I think the rank and file GOP are now finally pissed they ever let those Southern Baptist fundies in. Mitty would have made a much better candidate vis a vis the economy meltdown right now. A Mormon, however, is despised more than us fags by the Southern Baptist Fundy base. I am thrilled that these Neanderthals rejected both Mitty and Rudy for Mister Magoo. But they could have actually beaten Obama with Mitty. Quelle Domage!!!!!!!!
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
I couldn't agree more. McCain was pretty much nominated by default. And what are Republicans to do? I mean, don't misundersstand me, I hope, and expect, the party to die off. They consider an intellectual, hell, they consider someone who is smart, to be a bad thing. Therefore, they have purged all intellectuals from thier party along with anyone who is not an ideologue. And what do they have left . . . Sarah Palin and her domestic terrorist crowds. There is really nothing left in the Republican Party anymore. How do they recover? I just don't think they can.
  • davidinchelseama · 1 year ago
This is just as pathetic as Dole's campaign. McCain is basically Dole with a creepier smile.

Seriously, what the hell is up with that smile? YIKES.

Just in time for Halloween, I guess.
  • imjussayin · 1 year ago
Can't quite agree with you here. I think the Southern Baptists hate Mormons and gays with equal fury. As to Mitt beating Obama.... I don't see it happening. The race would pit the sincerity of Obama against the blatant phoniness of Romney. Even Republicans saw through it.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
I really hope McCain brings up the Ayers thing so Obama can bat it down, thus creating an opening for Keating five and the fact that McCain sat in meetings with ACORN as recently as 2006 and called them a "wonderful organization".....

McCain is such a loser, I have every confidence that Obama is prepared to face these rediculous accusations. However I think McCain is too much of a coward to bring it up.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    and then there's G.Gordon Liddy
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
how about Obama bringing up his praise of g gordon liddy?

ya wanna compare relationships with domestic terrorists? let's see, serving on a charitable board (a charity run by some of mcsame's biggest donors btw)... or going on a talk show run by a felon... someone who advocates "going for the headshot, they wear body armor" when the ATF tries to come for your guns.

    hmm... its a tossup, right?
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
    exactly. That too.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Speaking of California's hateful Proposition 8 which would deny gays and lesbians marriage rights, there is a phone banking web site via the United Church of Christ that one can use to make calls and MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

    http://www.noonprop8.com/action/phone-bank
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
What is CA's ratification process if this passes? Or is it merely law after that?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    I don't know.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I think its just written into the constitution...

if it needed to be ratified by the state government, the fundies wouldn't have even bothered. gay marriage has passed the legislature TWICE in CA.

    .
  • David Liao · 1 year ago
No ratification--just simple majority of votes by the electorate on November 4.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Mmmm...well that could play well into a national case...it sucks for CA gay
couples in the meantime...but I think there are some SCOTUS ways to negate a
state constitution. the more of a mess it is around the nation, the more
    likely a test case
  • Laura-In-CC (fka Doodlebug) · 1 year ago
A test case is all fine and well, but with the composition of SCOTUS, and as it will be well into the future, we're not likely to win the issue REGARDLESS if our rights fit squarely within the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. They'll simply ignore that and come up with some excuse that Loving v. Virginia and its rationale and holding simply do not apply to queers because we don't have the same rights as others, even African-Americans. After all, they can't help that they are black and we "choose" to be perverted.

If SCOTUS would decide our way, this would have been before them many years ago. So far, it hasn't been and the reason is that the states which are making decisions on our side use their state's constitution as the basis. The moment some state supreme court uses the U.S. Constitution in its holding the fundies have an opportunity to take it to the highest court in the land. No one at the present time and given the make up of the court wants to run the rather high risk that the court will fall on the side of discrimination, thereby setting the cause back years.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Its just more of the Rovian ol' Republican Junior High, "I know what you are, but what am I?" bullshit. Its not working this election, thank G-d!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Why don't cable teevee newsreaders tell us this is John McCain's umpteenth plan for solving the Republican Economic Crisis? They keep saying McCain is going to unveil his plan likes he hasn't done this before? There needs to be some context, and they need to stop playing his little game of pushing the reset button every day.
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
Next he's going to warn us about the dangers of age in leaders and stress the importance of voting for people without crazy, inept governors on their ticket. Obama doesn't even need to give a speech today, McCain is out there sandbagging himself.

John's mind ... "I love me wife...wait...who is my wife? I love my wife. Is she my wife?"
  • CobaltBlue · 1 year ago
McCain is now a lame duck candidate.

and Palin...well.... she's just an oddity.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
McCain is just copying the Obama Campaign the way it was copying Hillary's Campaign for a while. They're lazy and out of money.

If you want to know what the McCain Campaign will do tomorrow just look at the Obama Campaign today.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
Not likely, they're reading his playbook upside down!
  • cab02149 · 1 year ago
A record low savings rate for Americans.

Record numbers of Americans, with jobs, are making ends meet by using their credit cards.

What in hell is he talking about?
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
The problem is that we're putting the wrong plastic in the landfills.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
It's the John McCain Presidential Campaign Game Show. Tune in everyday and see what stunt they will have in store to make you laugh. Watch as Ringmaster and ethicly challenged governer-on-the-lam Sarah Palin whips the crowd into a frenzy with nonsensical statements and lies. Listen as the candidate himself stumbles into each abyss as his supporters look on in anger and disgust and to figure out why they spent their time and money on him to begin with.

    EGAD!

"IRONY ALERT: In big economic speech, McCain warns against "erratic politicians" "

A little tardy, Johny come lately. The Forefathers put that in the constitution under 'impeachment'!

We're going to regret not reading the playbook any better than McCain.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I saw that drunk / druggie tool, Hank Williams Jr. singing his new version of "Family Tradition." I think we should remind Republicans the original lyrics are:

    "Why do you drink?
Hank, why do you roll smoke?"

I guess he is supporting John McCain's Presidency and writing songs for him so that he can get free beer from the hopeful First Lady Cindy Hensley McCain?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S81brjpteDk

Hank blames the Democrats. He is a dickhead!

    My lyrics:

"John McCain, why do you drink?
    Why does Cindy roll smoke?
Why must we fix all the things the GOP broke?
Over and over we wonder how'd we get in this condition?
The answers clear we've had EIGHT LONG YEARS
    of a REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION!
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
So after the release, are you going to put the band on the road?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    absolutely. ;)
  • Laura-In-CC (fka Doodlebug) · 1 year ago
Hey! I've got a song, too. Sung to the tune of the Oscar Mayer bologna song:

My bologna has a first name, it's J-O-H-N John
My bologna has a second name, it's M-C-C-A-I-N
Oh, I love to hear him every day
And if you ask me why I'll say
That my John McCain has the best in B-O-L-O-G-N-A.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
John McCain claims he isn't stirring the hate and anger pot, but then allows that drunk Hank Williams Jr. to get up and sing this Nazi crap to his audience?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S81brjpteDk

    Again, I prefer these lyrics:

"John McCain, why do you drink?
    Why does Cindy roll smoke?
Why must we fix all the things the GOP broke?
Over and over we wonder how'd we get in this condition?
The answers clear we've had EIGHT LONG YEARS
    of a REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION!"

One thing I'd like to add is I served on submarines in the Cold War. I was of the understanding we FIGHT to ensure people have the right to express themselves. For that stupid tool to write and sing those hateful lyrics then turn around and say Americans shouldn't have the right to burn a flag if they think their government has become, say, "Socialist" or "Nazi" then he is an UNAMERICAN TRAITOR! Until that dirt bag serves in the military, Hank Williams Jr. needs to keep his mouth shut about what the flag stands for and whether or not Americans have the right to freedom of expression!

I would not burn an American flag, but I would fight and die for the right for others to burn a flag as a symbol of their disagreement with our policies. I'd rather see them burn a flag, or inanimate symbol, than get violent with PEOPLE!
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
You just can't make this shit up, can you?
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
    McCain does!
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
So the "HUFF" has a story about McKRAZY bringing up Ayers on Wed night. I think it would be FUN if OBAMA had Mrs. Annenberg in the AUDIENCE to vouch for AYERS, and the board he and Obama sat on.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
OOOOH...I love that. YES......god that would be fabulous.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
McCain gets nuttier and nuttier. Why would you use a phrase synonamous (sp) With the way Dems have been describing McCain- as Erratic? It just makes McCain look ......hmmm.....erratic.

McCain is nuttier than chinese chicken salad..

Obama up 17 points in Wisconsin today!! Is it November yet?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Get this! Andrea Mitchell just tried to give Robert Reich a load of shit about using the word "erratic" to describe John McCain. Andrea needs to keep up with John McCain. Its okay for him to use the word but not Democrats, Mrs. Greenspan? Then, get this, Andrea said, "You are out there on the LEFT COAST..." He said, "Its not all that left." Andrea then lied and said, "Didn't mean it that way..." Yea, uh huh... Mrs. Greenspan, your association with your husband is showing! MSNBC needs to can her.
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
If NBC/MSNBC was to be TOTALLY honest and transparent, then before each "ANDREA MOMENT" we would hear an open disclosure about her relationship to the highest political offices through her husband. NO ONE that close to the ground in Washington could be ALL UNBIASED , ALL THE TIME. There seem to be a number of these POLITICAL/MEDIA/LOBBYIST/APPOINTEE relationships, and marriages. I think it would be GOOD to have a list just to compare what comes out in print or the screen, as compared to what's reality.
  • benb · 1 year ago
His IRA proposal--seniors shouldn't have to being withdrawals at 70 1/2---makes very little sense. If you haven't started withdrawing by 70 1/2...is it likely you need to? And if you do start withdrawing and withdraw a percentage...it will be smaller because the market is down---so you are already compensated. Also, how fair is this proposal to seniors who had to start withdrawing at 59 1/2? They get no help.

I'm all for helping seniors who are strapped but this idea is silly.
  • woodka · 1 year ago
He forgot to add "like me" at the end. There John, fixed it for you....
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
Then it's settled. McCain admits he is erratic. Glad we have that cleared up.
