AMERICAblog: Is McCain really worried about his family budget, paying more for gas and food, his family budget and paying tuition? Really?

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Think it's time to start talking about McCain's gambling problem?

Are those STILL beating the dead horse "Obama is a celebrity"? Good grief...
  • nicho · 1 year ago
Johnny and the Buffalo Chip Queen spend $270,000 a year on household servants alone.

That excludes him from any discussion of the economy for normal people.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Especially when his household wage spending is over $250,000. Ask him the price of a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, the insurance on his car, how much for an oil change. If he can answer any of those I will vote for him.

oil was 18 dollars a barrel when Clinton left office. McCain doesn't care about the hyperinflation his foreign policy has caused making oil 100 dollars more per barrel because he gets to "redeem himself" for breaking in the camp by being tough with other people's deployed relatives 40 years later
  • paulbot5 · 1 year ago
Obama wont stop inflation either so whats the point
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
I'd trust Obama to do it more than I'd trust McCain.

The last Fed Chairman to slay double-digit inflation was Paul Volcker.

He's one of Obama's top economic advisors.

Big mistake they are making. They think that the celebrity ads really worked and sunk in to the extent that its a "given" ...Its not so thay are just wasting more money .....Lets face it they have no good response for the gaffe made about houses...I juts heard Rush in my car during lunch trying to claim at least one of Macains houses is home to an elderly aunt of his and Obama is so callous that he lets his half brother live in a hut .....OY it hurts so bad when you stretch like that ...They are in a panic because they now they cant get out of thsi one ...live by the sword die by the sword ...about time !
  • jixter · 1 year ago
This is a very good ad, but - to my ears, anyway - the voice-over level is a little low. Remix it and it'll be TV Gold.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    Is McCrazyCain channeling Ed McMahn?

Is he close to bankrucpy? I mean is he close to losing his 3 homes?

No I mean his 5 homes?

Wait! Oh, yeah! I mean is he close to losing his 7 homes?

What's that? Yes! Yes! His 9 homes, is he close to losing his 9 homes?

I'm sorry, but I tired of counting, but can someone PLEASE give me the final count of McCrazyCain's MANY homes?

Would love to know and it would make a great campaign ad for Obama on how much John AND Cindy McCain did benefit from those tax cuts for the wealthy.
Can you imagine how angry that would make people?
I bet he did not abstain from any tax cut votes that benefit him or his family.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
That would be a great ad! Have a roaming reporter go up to regular people on the street and ask them if they knew McCain's tax plan would mostly benefit people like himself, and then tell them how much Bush's tax cuts saved McCain over the last 6 years, zeroing in on the shock and disgust on the faces of the regular people. Ending with a still shot of Bush and MCCain laughing their asses off and a voice-over saying, "McCain's tax plan to further enrich himself and his friends...with YOUR help, of course!"
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
Yeah, the guy with a house staffing budget six times the average American household income, reaaaaaly understands everyday problems. Like what pair of Ferragamo's to put on or if the town you just took your private jet to has one of your homes there or if you just remembered wrong.

    Remember this? : : : .

McCain responded by saying immigrants were taking jobs nobody else wanted. He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona.

How about holding heads of lettuce up in the air?

IN MOST PEOPLES LIFETIME ...they wont spend this

Their credit card bills peaked between January 2007 and May 2008, during which time Cindy McCain charged as much as $500,000 in a single month on one American Express card and $250,000 on another, while one of their two dependent children had an AmEx card with a monthly balance as large as $50,000.
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago

  • Zorba · 1 year ago
"Is John McCain really worried about his family budget?" I would say "no," but it depends on how short a leash Cindy keeps him on, budget-wise, since almost all the money is hers. Of course, he has his own money, from his Senate salary, military disability payments, and the sale of his books, but that's a pretty small amount compared to what Cindy is worth. So maybe he does worry about how much Cindy will allow him to spend of her money. (I'm guessing she's pretty generous with him, though.)

There's a great diary over at Kos (with close to 400 comments) about this being McSame's "macaca moment". This stuff is going to stick...McSame is being exposed for what he really is and the Democrats now have their attack.

It's time for the the Hammer Test. Someone in the media needs to hand McCain a hammer. When you give a mere mortal a hammer, they hold it like they intend to use it, (at the bottom of the handle). When the super-rich have a hammer in their hands, they grab it near the head, because they don't ever use one. Nobody caught it at the time, but George W did a photo-op after Katrina, and he was swinging a hammer by holding near the head (he obviously hadn't used one before). If there is a better test of "regular-guyness", I don't know one. Jimmy Carter knows how to swing a hammer (and so do his Secret Service agents), does John McCain? I doubt it.

Good ad, but it sounds like a BBC Documentary. Could we lose the British voiceover. We're not running against Tony Blair.

    Enjoy.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I agree. That is the only problem with this ad. The narrator is probably American even but the accent takes away from the message.

Apologies to all my thick accented friends.

    Love the Floyd song.

I love it! this is going to be another good day. and the icing on the cake will be when Obama announces his VP.
Yeah bring it on McCain...let's talk about ethics.

    you gambling bling master, you.

    Does Cindy have a pre-nup?

Since McCain put that ad out maybe he can tell us about his retirement plan.

Maybe the McCain's can tell us how much a loaf of bread costs, or milk,or Vicodin, or Ambien.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
nope... they don't buy bread or milk, a servant does that.

as for Vicodin or Ambien... doesn't everyone just steal that from charities?
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
Well maybe they can tell us how much a good servant costs
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
    Something like $270,000 PER YEAR!

I don't see how these commercials from mccain with the word "we" when talking about financial strife in the average American's life are going to work.

nor can I see how the mccain campaign can continue to paint Obama as elitist anymore.

keep plugging the $500 shoes and 9 houses... yeah, mccain's one of "us".

that whole "I feel your pain" schtick doesn't work... or maybe I'm the only one who doesn't have a private jet?

Mitt Romney is actually much wealthier than McSame. If he hasn't already been chosen for the VP slot, this issue won't improve his chances. Imagine a two-super-rich-white-guys ticket.
  • jonlave · 1 year ago
    Obama should actually reply
John McCain is right, I do not have $100 million dollar like John McCain, but I do not have to worry about my budget. But unlike John I earned my money, I did not marry into my wife's inheritence. My mom was on foodstamps for a while. And there were many years that I meeting the monthly budge was a struggle. .. etc etc
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
..I think he meant the royal "WE"......

Besideds this whole celebrity thing is getting old, and laughable. McCAin is sounding more and more desparate.

Bring on Biden so we can really rake this fake over the coals.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
Listen its nice to be rich and own homes. That isn't what the problem is for me. Its McCain saying take 2 jobs and no vacations. How can he understand where we are coming from if he has been there. He doesn't know people are struggling to make ends meet with no increase in wages and costs of everything going up. Our electric bill this yr is going up 20%. We just filled our oil and it was over $1,022.00. Thats just the beginning. Where are we suppose to get the money from? I know there are alot of people out here that are having it worse than my family. I have medical issues and pray very hard I don't end up in the hospital. I am not say these things for petty I am just saying to McCain he just doesn't get it. He is so way out of touch. I don't understand why people that are really struggling will vote for a republican.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Bush has wrecked the economy and McSame will follow along.
My partner and I were comfortable living on our retirement income, Now we are having to mind our spending---not that we were lavish. We're going out to dinner half as often and to far less expensive places, and we are planning/combing errand trips to save on gas. We are also buying cheaper gifts for children and grandchildren and not buying new clothes.
That's nothing to whine about while people are losing their jobs and don't have enough for basic groceries.
But I hope the electorate will wake up to what the situation is and vote for the party that cares for their welfare, not the party that wants to deliver their assets to the rich.
  • caphillprof · 1 year ago
Basically, if you take a step back and reread what you've said, you're basically saying that John McCain is a "kept" man, that it's really his wife and other surrogates who make all the decisions--where to live, what to buy, etc.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
maybe that's why he "forgot" how many houses Cindy owns.
he knows his macho image with the macho-lovin' GOPers will be shot to hell.
  • Nylund · 1 year ago
I think this post should be updated to include the $500,000 monthly AMEX bill.
  • FauxReal · 1 year ago
How about the household help. Most of us couldn't afford a cleaning lady at $50 a week. This is from Politico - over a quarter million a year for household employees!:

The McCains increased their budget for household employees from $184,000 in 2006 to $273,000 in 2007, according to John McCain’s tax returns.

The additional cash supports an “increase in the number of employees,” said the McCain aide, who did not say whether the growing staff stemmed from the addition of new properties to the family’s real estate portfolio.
    -----------
And they try to paint Obama as an elitist.
