AMERICAblog: Is Obama's SEC choice underwhelming?

Speaking of the change we need, when is it?

it looks like change consists of replacing geo bush with bill clinton. that may sound like 3 steps backward followed by 3 steps forward, but unfortunately, the world is a lot worse now than in 1993. i fear that clinton redux, aka obama, is going to give us about 1 step forward.

On an acitivst note:  Another one of those Obama fund-raising letters came through, wondering where I'd been?  I scrolled to the bottom of the mailer to find an "unsubscribe" option.  I pressed the button and the standard unsubscribe form came up wanting my email and an optional space to explain why I was unsubscribing.  I wrote that I was protesting the decision to invite an anti-gay activist to bless the inauguration.  I wonder whether a human will ever read that?

Well, the bush admin did set the bar pretty low. My old deaf dog would be better than a bush appointee.

    Off subject, but...

Why is Barack still asking me for money? Doesnt he know that I now know he hates me for being gay? And to ask me for money to pay for his hate-filled inauguration?

    What a joke!

I'd say theres a good chance Obama will bring little change and most of his supporters will be disappointed in 4 years :P

Well, if SEC is not adequately funded after 8 years of austerity treatment from Bush, it won't really matter who's running the agency, since they won't have any budget with which to hold investigations, now will they?

the SEC needs a reformer . the current group is dominated by lawyers and time-serving managers who are only interested in their position in the bureaucracy. There is little knowledge of investments and most importantly the spirit of our excellent securities laws is ignored . Instead silly rules are passed and never re-examined. Take for example a rule which says you don't have to file reports if you have less than 300 shareholders of record. This rule written in 1938 would allow Google not to file reports if they wanted. exams focu on nit-picking and ignore the protection of the publicin fovor of protecting the bureaucracy.
