AMERICAblog: Is the financial crisis really missing from the conventions?

  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Melissa Etheridge just brought me to tears with her great solo. She is tremendous, and my gay heart swelled with pride. And finally I saw representation of us gay folks at this convention.

After seeing Evan Bayh speak tonite I sure am glad Obama didn't pick him for VP. Nice guy, but not inspiring at all, and those ears wouldda been ridiculed constantly by the Republican Noise Machine.

    get the money from:
    1. taxing the living shit out of the top 1/10 of 1%. like 75%. that's what we USED to have in america. if they don't like it, they can move to f-ing, f-ed up, dubai. Tax the crap out of the top 6/10 of 1% too.
    2. slamming heavy import fees/tarriffs on countries with shit environmental and labor records, so thier products will be way expensive in the us - like china.
    3. tax the crap out of things to really pay thier cost to society. not trying to make money, just so we can break even. ie, cigarrettes.
    4. some creative temporary taxes on things like big-ticket luxury items, and crack down very hard on loopholes for these items, ie, bought overseas and now brought it in to the us? give them double the taxes as penalty
    5. close varoius tax loopholes, for weathy and corporations
    6. change the tax laws so if you earn 90% of the income of a society, then you pay 90% of the mf-ing taxes. Don't like it? try living w/o the rest of us.
    7. REGARDLESS of source of income (ie, cap gains) pay the same f-ing tax rate..
Regarding Warrren Buffett's comments about regular people losing the war to the rich: It's time the regular people start kicking ass and winning his war.

The delegates are there to celebrate their power, have some drinks, get laid, sleep late, shop and cheer the speakers. It isn't polite to discuss difficult issues at a party. Ce n'est pas amusant.

The financial crisis facing the country is far to scary for common discussion for the simple reason that there is NO solution that doesn't involve HUGH pain. Obama doesn't want to tell the voters that fixing the criminal mess left by the Bush administration will mean much of the things the starry eyed crowd thinks will be coming from his administration will have to be traded away. Many think it will be going in for a nip&tuck at the plastic surgeon, it will be a battlefield amputation and there ain't much morphine.

June 4, 1963. The day the US Gov said that your "silver certificates" weren't worth the paper they were printed on. That's the day we became a "third world" country. I still have some that I never spent.

What time will Obama's speech be on Thursday? Please God don't let his speech be on after 10pm when the people who need to hear it the most will be asleep! Especially since it now looks like Biden's speech will be on after we're all asleep.

Silly twit, Nixon removed the Gold / Silver backing from our currency. And if you really understood the roots of our monetary fix you would cite FDR's 1933 withdrawal of the gold standard.
