Heh, you may well ask! I don't see too many scared progressives, though -- it's the big, boasty, chesty rethugs who are pee-the-pants afraid of everything! And some Dem reps, of course. Damned weenies.

My retort to the Collins' quote is how is that money was spent to so call protect the US. $23 billion unaccounted for in Iraq? selling degraded ammo to US troops in Afghanistan? no bid contracts? All this is going on while S-Chip was blocked by your cohorts in the Senate. How much safer are we now, given we are depending on the Chinese to help cover our deficit?
Aim at one of Collins' beliefs, she cares about being cost effective.. go after how much growth happened in the gov't while she was chairwoman of the Gov't Affairs committee in the Senate.

Watch her. When she ran against Pingree in 02, there were republican henchmen challenging the votes of students in my college town over residency issues - which they had no right to do. It was Collins who did this - it wasn't a presidential election year - her Senate seat race was top entry on the ballot.

Bush's 'oceans used to protect us' phrase has always irked me. Back in 2002 didn't he know about the invention of AIRPLANES?!!! And what about all those big brave oceans that protected us from the attack on Pearl Harbor. What a moron. gawd.

Weapons of Mass Destruction. Yep. And we are the folks that provided them to Saddam. Made in the USofA. and exported so he could use them against the Iranians. And who knows, maybe the Kurds as well. After all, the turks were mighty pissed at the PPK back then and wanted the US to undertake significant actions to send the message that the Kurdish nationalist movement would be crushed. No wonder Iran thinks they need nuclear weapons (WMD) to protect themselves from us. After all, we have already used WMD against them, through our surrogate, Saddam Hussein. Ole dubya said we needed to go invade Iraq because Saddam was trying to build nucs and he might sell them or chemical weapons to terrorists or rogue leaders. Oh...Ya.. That is what we did! Does that indicate that other nations should preemptively attack us because we supply WMD to rogue nations and that we continued to support that nation and its use of these weapons after the 1st, 2ed, 3rd .... 25th use and so on? Even when that nation used these weapons against unarmed & unprepared civilian populations? The USA. THE primary source of WMD to nations outside of non proliferation agreements.
