AMERICAblog: It's kind of sad when a blogger is producing our best ads out of his basement

Memo to Plouffe and Axelrod: hire Jed ASAP!
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Jed did a good job. Also it seems to me that people on this blog generally do more research before they comment than the MSM does before publishing or broadcasting the news.

OK. When is Barack going to come out swinging? When??? I understand the whole, stooping to their level thing, blah blah blah. We who are educated understand the Britney commercial does not pass the laugh test. But I am telling you folks, it's a tortus and the Hare scenario playing out here. I am a bit concerned. The repugs have many studies that say these types of attacks work.

We need strong language and hard truths from the Obama camp, and we need it now before these poll numbers slip any further.

Joe Biden, where are you....we need an attack dog!!!!! No one loves Barack more than I , but I am starting to get concernced that McSAME could actually pull this off.

Obama responds to current McCain ad.

    http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2008/07/...

"You know, I don't pay attention to John McCain's ads, although I do notice he doesn't seem to have anything to say very positive about himself," Obama said, according to NBC's First Read blog. "He seems to only be talking about me ... You need to ask John McCain what he's for and not just what he's against..

Nice straight jab to the stones. A perfect response, a little steel and nice sarcasm.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
Yes, that was a good response. We konw McSAME stands for nothing and has been suckling at the Federal teet his entire life......but we need to blunt words here. Is America ready for class and intellect? I hope so! :-) OBAMA 08
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
And we have from McCain and the RNC the first black guy shown with white women ad of the year. The McCain Obama as Celebrity ad features Baeak and pictures of Brittany and Paris. Subtext - he will go after your white women. Sort of black babies in reverse. Classy.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
yep. here's how Atrios sums that one up:

"He's An Uppity Negro Who Wants To Fuck Your Sister

It is the path that the McCain camp has chosen. They're allowed. But if the word "presumptuous" comes out of the mouth of a journalist one more time I'm gonna go Elvis on the teevee."
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Somebody said on TV this afternoon, maybe Smerconish, that the ads are aimed at the lowest common denominator, hoping to stire them up.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    oh i don't think it's sad, i think it's brilliant.

there's no way McLame can stop Jed or even complain about him, like he could against the DNC...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
McShrub is a classic 'mean old man.' I think he's campaign is telling him that, "You know, that Obama said something about your service. He's denigrating your record. They're saying things about your slut...er, wife Cindy."

I can't wait until he blows a gasket. He's not up to this. I doubt if he makes it to Nov. at this rate. It's wrong of his campaign staff to fool him like this. It's also ridiculous. I'm not defending McShrub in the least. This is his handlers including Rove.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
    McShrub is barely there.
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
The idea of McSame 'jumping the shark' before November has crossed my mind, also. He does not act fit and sounds even worse. He does remind me of the 'mean old men' I've known (and buried) in the past.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
McCain, Rove, and Nelson: Mean Gurlz sniping bitchily at the popular Homecoming King (and he's, gasp, like, BLACK!). Because he ignores them in the hallways...
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
maybe he'd pay more attention to them if those girls weren't in their 60's/70's and still in high school?
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Can McBush ads get any more stupid than to repeatedly show his green eyed jealousy over Obama's intelligence, judgment and appeal?

McBush has absolutely NOTHING for the American public, thus, he attacks...if people can't see through this and his frantic attempt to preserve the status quo, while the majority of the country thinks it's going in the wrong direction, then people are just stupid--and deserve what comes down the pike.

Vote in YOUR best interests, people, not those of the overprivileged, lying, cheating, stealing, murdering class.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
And if they don't, they will get more and more and more of what they've had. It's up to them.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Oh man this new YouTube thingy is fucking dangerous as fucking hell to this status quo old fart one party regime ruling class in DC. ROFLMAO.

Okay kids let's all sing the big barricade song from Les Miz!!!!
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    Perfect theme song.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Way back when "Les Miz" opened on B'way, Jack Kemp went to see it and ran all over Washington telling everyone that this was the best thing in the world since sliced bread. At the time, I thought, gee Jack you are either dumb as shit not to see the irony in that, as a conservative, or, and we were wishful thinking, you're "family". I, being a randy queer, prayed it was the latter.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Years ago, there were plenty of rumors about Kemp's activities at Lake Tahoe, and I think maybe it was in connection with some Reagan staffers. Did you ever see a photo of Kemp's wife?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
Obama is returning fire, with precision and humor...the campaign responds to McLame's latest ad with Brittney and Paris...
this is from a post by Sam Stein at HuffPo:

'The Obama campaign, perhaps sensing the lack of substance in the critique, hit back with a bit of humor while accusing McCain abandoning any pretense of civility.

"On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Senator McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another," read a statement from spokesman Tommy Vietor. "Or, as some might say, 'Oops! He did it again.'"
  • DCinDC · 1 year ago
Obama, it is August! It is Karl Rove's time of the year! Pay attention to McCain's attack ads!

    Warning! Warning! Warning!
  • jeffala · 1 year ago
I can understand how Rove would be at his best when the temperatures are closest to those in Hell.
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
That post 2000 traditional time when faux liberals like Richard Cohen and other Washington Post illuminati provide ammo to the Rethug overlords...Ah, remember Judy Dean's shag carpets and sandals, Wesdley Clark's argyle and just about anything Al Gore ever did or didn't do???

Ludacris = the NEW Sista Souljah!
  • Rob Mule · 1 year ago
Winner of a backhanded "award" for insensitive and/or racist commentary Pat Buchanan just teased on MSTIM's Race for the White House that the "Ludacris thing" would be happening later today....meaning, I think as you suggest, blobby baldy Steve Schmidt (he just looks like a trashy bottom) plans to smear Obama with whacked hopper Ludi...or, as FOX "News" says, "staunch Barack Obama supporter Ludacris". Wow, staunch, "this is big" will no doubt be Steve Doocey's predictable cry.
MSTIM coincidentally called Obama, this morning, a "bling dad NBA star" somewhat telegraphing the highly racist Ludi guilt by association thing.

  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Rachel Maddow had a great retort to Pat Buchanan's dire warnings about Ludacris. She told him that his comments say more about him than about Ludacris.
    Love that woman.
  • Mikki --SE Pennsylvania · 1 year ago
    Rachel is the best!!!

    Just a reminder:

    JOHN MCCAIN:
    NO IDEAS
    NO VISION
    NO HONOR.

And the same can be said about Ole Prune-Faced Pat.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    It's a great ad!

    Thanks for posting it.

I wonder how many hits it's getting on You Tube.

    God bless Jed.

We need another 50 just like him.
  • RevDrBillyBob · 1 year ago
You godless heathen libruls are paying MILLIONS to professional ad-makers . . . for a work-product that isn't nearly as good as Jed's. Lordy, you people ARE stoopid. OH ! And why don't you pay James Carville a ton o' money to run Obama's campaign, too ! He did SUCH a good job of deliberately sabotaging Kerry's campaign in 2004. HA HA !
  • HelenaMontana · 1 year ago
The most brilliant and creative minds are definitely NOT working for political campaigns--certainly not Democratic on the Democratic side, anyway. The Dems have been using the same sad-sack bunch of laggards and intellectual midgets to do their advertising and conduct their campaigns for a long, long time.

The people that run the GOP campaigns are miserable, awful people, but they're way out in front of their Dem counterparts in terms of framing, strategy, and presentation. The Dems always play defense--they couldn't go on the offense to save their lives.

My God, after the last couple of elections, you'd think they'd learn.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Ordinarily, I would agree, but the last couple of days do not present GOP in good frame or strategy.
Much of the MSM has smacked McCain down for falsehoods about Obama not visiting the troops, etc.
  • paul94611 · 1 year ago
Just goes to show you how out of touch and out of sync the marketing models are.
Folks can sense these mass marketed gerberviore products and are rejecting them...
It takes a citizen with their head on their shoulders and their ear to the ground to actually understand this.
Perhaps this is an indication of why the tried & true campaign play book no longer works as advertised..hahahah
  • jr · 1 year ago
    Dear Obama,
    hire Jed now!
