This candidacy will be his legacy.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
UPDATE: In the same forum, about 30 minutes later, McCain said we have to be able to trust what our candidates say. We have to be able to trust they are telling the truth.

If there is one single powerful argument against McCain's statement you have to look no further than George Bush.

    It's the Ambien.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
It's the Ambien (a pill that DOES NOT help you sleep, but DOES make you FORGET that you were awake all night), and the Alzheimers' supplements.

And just what's wrong with a single-payer (or even socialized) system, McCain and Obama?
A single payer system that allowed everyone to buy into at reduced rates due to the economies of scale would force the private insurers to straighten up their business practices, knowing they would have to compete with a payer that would be allowing 300 million people to buy coverage.
They would either be extremely competitive for the average consumer, or they could spend their time catering to rich people who would be wiling to spend extra dollars for minimal return.

Fuck, just open up Medicare for everyone.
Ideally, I would like the free, cradle to grave coverage McCain has been experiencing.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
I agree. Anything less than what McCain has available to him should be unacceptable to each and every American.
McCain doesn't have to ever worry about his health care, his $100 million dollar Sugar Momma, and the US Senate have everything covered for him.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Don't forget, he could have also availed himself of military and veterans' health care systems.
  • judybrowni · 1 year ago
IF ONLY Obama would subscribe to single payer!

However, in the last debate he very clearly did say anyone who wanted to keep their insurance policy could, and the rest of us could sign on to the same plan as Congress has WITHIN MCCAIN'S HEARING (providing McCain hadn't turned his hearing aids off.)

Other than single payer as the ideal, I hear that government health insurance plan members of Congress get is pretty freaking excellent, and I'd be happy to settle for that.

Big fucking difference from the lack of any I have now, or the $1,000 a month individual plan I was last offered.

Off subject: DOWN DOWN TO 8900

Didn't Republicans tell us that Dow would hit 30K back during the dot-com bubble?

Didn't Republicans tell us we should put our Social Security safety net in Wall Street?

  • grandma · 1 year ago
McCain also repeated today, when appearing in WI with Palin....that she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere and he was proud of her for that.

Everyone knows by now what a lie that is.

He flat out lined during the debate....saying his singing 'bomb, bomb, bomb,Iran' was in the context of a conversation with another military vet......when there is actual footage of it at a campaign rally.

despicable behavior. the country's health care system is a godawful mess. you only make it MORE godawful by lying. this is not an example of country first. the guy is evil.

You know, even if we went to a national healthcare system like the UK, it's still a myth that private healthcare would be abolished. I lived in the UK for my first 30 years and had and used private healthcare insurance provided as a benefit by my company.

My parents are both alive today because of excellent public NHS healthcare, and yet my mother opted to go private for shoulder surgery because there waiting list for this non-critical surgery was a couple of months long. It was her choice, and although they are not wealthy people (retired teachers) they were able to afford the bill because they had not been bankrupted by previous major surgeries.

So, please, do everything you can to explode the myth that a publica healthcare system would be the end of choice and the end of private healthcare. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Whether it be related to Ambien, Dementia, Age, etc etc etc. we about to see a "noo-ku-lar" meltdown of this candidate. He could very well stress/worry himself into a stroke or heart attack. Even McCain can't say things like this and expect the MSM to support him....can he??

Gallup Daily: Obama 52%, McCain 41%
    Obama maintains significant lead

Keep up all your lies and negativity McPalin....cuz it's working in Obama's favor.

Is McCain in a Dream State , where he wishes something to be true, so he Makes it True and then Acts on It ?

JFC... This guy is really losing it !!
  • minik · 1 year ago
McCain's tears of sorrow will be my sweet sustenance. when Barack buries him on election day.

That's right crybaby, cry cry cry... not even Palin will give you the time of day once your death is no longer helpful to her.
  • xjn · 1 year ago
last night, grandpa Pat was on the Rachel Maddow show and claimed that McCain's decline in the polls coincided with and was caused by the stock market dive... I disagree. I think his problems started when he and his running mate decided to just go out on the campaign trail and just lie again and again, thanks but no thanks, ebay jet, no earmarks, etc... and the media decided to report them as lies. The market isn't helping him, but his campaign's behavior is what caused it...

don't worry, I don't think they'll persuade anybody this way. Most people are wise to the lie, lie, lie tactic now.
  • heathwood · 1 year ago
McCain has no shame. Government run health care has kept him alive so far, what's his beef?
  • ProgressiveTroll · 1 year ago
His insurance buddies don't get a piece of that pie.
  • ProgressiveTroll · 1 year ago
They keep saying Barack's going to raise your taxes too. Gotta catapult that propoganda don't ya know? You betcha. I heard a lady from Alaska talking about Palin's hillbilly accent and how she didn't have it in her Gov.'s debate. Reminded me of Gee Dumbya. He didn't have his aw shucks drawl in his debate with Ann Richards either.

At least we know he's not having a good time today, since he hates Milwaukee so. They are wasting their time there anyway, there's no way they will win Wisconsin. Even if Russ baby still thinks this insane old crank would be a good President.
  • MikeinSanJo · 1 year ago
It's the Republican art of Projection- They take their 'sins' and their weaknesses and attribute them to their opponents.

"Obama has run the dirtiest campaign in History" coming from Cindy McCain.

"Who is the Real Obama?" like he hasn't been examined and scrutinized since the Democratic primaries and no one has given a shit about McCain's history, associations, health records, etc.

"Gotta be able to Trust the candidates" from the man who has his staff issuing correction after correction while fact-checkers all over the country are going nuts

Unfortunately, they think about this first and get it out in public, then it sounds plain stupid if the Dems come back and say, "No, YOU are!"

  • lovepeaceandallthat · 1 year ago
I would love to see an ad that is on the theme of "say it to my face". Not like a tough-guy threat, but just "why isn't mcCain saying these things to Obama's face" Make McCain out as a sneaky, lying, cowardly bully -- which he is. McCain is very scared of Obama, in many ways. Of course the fear comes across as anger, but it is still fear.

On the health care smear -- get an ad up real quick that uses McCain's lies to Obama's favor. This is an opportunity to explain Obama's health care plan to people. Probably would take some longer ads... with Obama talking straight at the camera, preferably.
  • marblex · 1 year ago
For once I would really love to see someone with forum access point out that single payer only affects who pays for health care.

Health care would naturally continued to be provided by licensed doctors and nurses and other duly qualified medical service providers.

Here's another bit of the McCain campaign bull. Whenever possible, they take the truth and flip it over on its back.

Cindy McCain claims Obama is waging dirty campaign
    From Associated Press
    October 09, 2008 1:54 PM EDT

WASHINGTON - Cindy McCain has accused Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama of running "the dirtiest campaign in American history."
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
IT'S VERY SAD and VERY SERIOUS WHEN A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE is out of control and does not know what he said yesterday or last week and contrdicts his own statements and the reality of what his opponent has said.

We must make our own conclusion regarding McCain's fitness for office or for retirement NOW. Are these LIES or CONFUSIONS???????
