Is MoreWar McCain still in Europe on the dole?

Just read this at Huff post:
CNN has reported that John McCain's campaign is reimbursing the government $3,000 for the cost of the political portion of his taxpayer-funded trip to Europe and the Middle East. Leaving aside the question of how much the rest of the trip was "political," McCain's reimbursement is reportedly meant to cover airfare, hotel and the cost of a car to his London fundraiser. According to DNC General Counsel Joe Sandler, that falls far short of the amount McCain is required to reimburse.

I saw that last night. Wasn't sure if it was a joke.

By the way, if you're dancing in front of a blue screen, you probably shouldn't wear a shirt with, you know, *blue* in it...

    Ha!

I didn't notice that the first time.

The one of the left looks like she's being beamed up from time to time.

Interesting interview in der Spiegel, Germany's answer to TIME magazine. In it, David Kay reveals that the CIA never spoke with "Curveball", the Iraqi defector behind the WMD claim Bush used to invade Iraq. Germany's BND (their CIA) didn't even cross-check the defector before distributing his WMD claims to allied intel agencies which ended up in Bush's SOTU speech.

  • Jump to the Left · 1 year ago
In fact, it's SO bad, that it seems like the Dems must have done it.
But, if the Dems HAD done it, I think they would have used a worse picture of McCain--there are plenty to choose from.
    I'm so confused.

    (Hi, Karol.)

Bwahahahaha! This kind of reminds me when unsuspecting folks do the "YMCA" dance (Village People) and do not understand what exactly is being sung about. This is so twisted and so funny on so many levels. LOL.

I couldn't do it. I lasted about 20 seconds and that was all I could take.

    Raining McCain video....

No one could have predicted that the line between reality and parody would be so thoroughly breached -- but this video represents mission accomplished.

Meanwhile...in that happy Potemkin Village, aka Baghdad -- where McCain loves to go shopping -- it's "raining" down rockets and mortars right on the Green Zone.

    "Barrage hits Baghdad Green Zone"

"A series of rockets or mortars have been fired into the heavily-fortified Green Zone in the centre of Baghdad.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7310173.stm

“Smoke rose from buildings after a sustained barrage of fire early on Sunday morning.
    […]
“It was not immediately clear where the rockets or mortars landed, or whether there were casualties.”

The BBC World Service is reporting that the rocket/mortar barrage lasted for between 15 and 20 minutes and was relentless while it lasted.

Oh, what a lovely "surge" -- you just gotta' love it!
    :)

At first I thought it was parody, but, maybe not.

    O/T
This is from Pat Buchanan's official website

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever know

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the ’60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks — with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas — to advance black applicants over white applicants.

Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?

Mr Buchanan has lost his mind. He imploded twice on MSNBC. He told a female pundit to shut up and now this rant. And who introduce who to Christianity? Pat Buchanan is an American tragedy. :(
  • Sarah B. · 1 year ago
    Where are the reparations?

For 300 years of slavery, another 100 years of Jim Crow, lynching, red-lining, and poll taxes until the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1965 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and continuing de facto segregation that exists in many parts of this country to the present time – all of which gave rise to Southern Strategy and the “War on Drugs” which were devised by ole’ Brother Pat and his fellow GOPers to circumvent just these modest gains in justice and equality for African-Americans.

Brother Pat is simply echoing Barbara Bush and her stern reminder to Katrina Victims that they had never had it so good after being bussed to the Houston Astrodome with only the clothes on their backs: “So, many of the people in the Arena…were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them.” Thanks. Babs.

Compassionate conservatives –not only will they kill you, they’ll do it with a smile.
    :(

I would love to see Pat Buchanan put in an apartment in DC's Anacostia neighborhood without a car for a week, to see how full of gratitude he feels at the end of the week.
  • Dumbo · 1 year ago
I actually kind of liked it. I thought I had seen all the bad campaign videos I could ever want to see, but then THIS one came along, and I'm like, wow, there are whole new depths of badness still be plumbed! I had no idea.

    It's simply revelatory.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Ask the Navajo of Arizona what McCain has done TO them.

McCain is no friend of people with natural tans; ask the Vietnamese, also.

If this video is for real, perhaps these people should think about how people like McCain don't want them to be educated anyway so they could get the facts on him and what he really is instead of doing some dumbass video...
  • KatrinaSurvivor · 1 year ago
I thought the video was sort of funny and light-hearted. We need to quit demonizing the Republicans just because we disagree with them. We are supposed to represent the best of Obama's message of inclusion and I welcome Republicans with a sense of humor as this video shows. The last think we want to do is start nitpicking everything the Republicans do like the hateful Billary bunch do. I think we need to take to heart the words of Barack himself:

"Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not. He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. I think they felt like with all the excesses of the 1960s and 1970s and government had grown and grown but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating. I think people, he just tapped into what people were already feeling, which was we want clarity we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing."
  • AngelaChanning · 1 year ago
Yes, it is definitely funny and lighthearted, especially since it is a gay anthem, a mega gay anthem. LOL. So given its subversive subtext, either it was planted by a Democrat, created by a hip Republican or created by a not so hip Republican. LOL. It kind of reminds me when McCain reportedly wanted the ABBA song "Take A Chance on Me"-- That would have answered the prayers of Jon Stewart and David Letterman. Thank you for listening.
  • Sarah B. · 1 year ago
    Angela

As a huge fan of subversive and even transgressive subtext(s), I applaud your interpretation of this video -- that it is trading on a traditional gay anthem, "It's Raining Men" -- Hallelujah!

What next? A reprise of Judy Garland or Barbra Streisand? In drag?
Actually, that's not a bad idea...just to carry "subversive subtext" to the next level.
    :)

I saw Geri Halliwell sing the song live. Twice.

This video can't even REMOTELY remove the amazing vibes I got from Ginger Spice.

    Oh my....

    That was something else!

I think that should ensure that John McCain never gets elected. Bravo!
  • peibossman · 1 year ago
John McCain is a little too arrogant about his leadership qualities...the good book says"let another man's lips praise thee...".
  • mcolley73 · 1 year ago
They had my vote as soon as McCain's head started floating around by itself. But then to add that she splashed some McCain rain on her face... for that clean and refreshing feeling that can only be assumed to result from the experience of rubbing old white man on your face... if only I could vote for McCain twice.

I only got about ten seconds into this thing when my ears started putting out black, putrid smoke, spontaneously combusted and melted off of my head. I'll have to read the rest of the comments to imagine the horrors that the rest of the video contained.
