AMERICAblog: Jed provides a dose of reality McCain's latest attack ad

Andy Stern has a message for Barack Obama: do not fear being accused of waging "class war" by speaking out for middle class and poor families.
On the sidelines of a pre-convention Sunday event in Denver, the president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) said that the "class war" charge -- often levied to good effect against Democratic presidential candidates -- has jumped the shark. Citing new polling numbers on the economy, which will be released Monday by the Change To Win coalition of unions, Stern told the Huffington Post: "People appreciate that power has been re-balanced away from them -- that economic fairness has come out of balance, and they can't figure out what's going to happen to their kids' [futures]. And so, I think someone saying corporations have way too much power and workers way too little is a message that everyone actually believes right now. And they may not have believed that 10 years ago."
The only reason she lied is because her husband is a former POW. Gotta cut her some slack!

when we were kids, one of my best friends was at my house and did something she wasn't supposed to (a minor infraction) and when my Mom asked what happened, Kym tells a big a$$ lie. My Mom asks "Is that the truth?" Kym says, "I don't like the real truth, so I made up my own truth."
yeah, that's how the GOP and their ilk operate. Like evil, powerful little kids.

Don't forget these "jokes" by John McCain. When Chelsea Clinton was 18 years old he said:
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?" he asked guests at a Senate Republican fundraiser. "Because her father is Janet Reno."
And any female Clinton supporter who has switched to the McCain camp should know about this McCain joke:
"The French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who is still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it," McCain told Fox News a few years ago.
Interesting comment considering that France is light years ahead of the US in health care, transportation, and many other things.

And "Beat the B*tch"
Not to mention calling his wife a "c*nt."
But, what the hell, if the PUMAs want to vote for that creep over the guy who wrote the "Violence Against Women Act," that's their business.
true. I am amazed that these stupid PUMA people think McSAME holds their values. Reality check- he does not. he is a womanizing, pro-lifer who called his wife a 'C*nt'. Nice.

Very very good point. I forgot all about that joke. Yeah, those moronic Clintonites who say they are going to vote for McCain ALL need to hear that joke.

for once, i think Jed could have improved that vid. repeat the question a few times because it's not easy to hear. shorten the answer to a chuckle and "that's a good question". repeat that too.

I agree. He needs to enhance the audio. Otherwise, it would be a great ad.
Limpballs has been all over this as well...the problem is, the brother himself, George Obama calls bullshit on it and is very supportive of Barack... http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/08/22/bts.obam... still it'll stir up the ignorant GOPers dying to dig up dirt...

You can't blame John on this. The thrift he learned as a POW won't let him waste anything. He's annoyed that he can't use all that anti-Clinton OPPO research. He hates waste with a passion only a POW can understand.

Excellent Bush_bites...completely true. Peopl also take cues from watching how reactions work. Even 10 years ago, if someone had been brave enough to shine a light on the bullshit behind calling something "class war", they could have gotten the majority with them. Instead....acting AS IF that was a bad phrase, ashamed and distancing oneself from the charge, lets people know it is shameful. It NEVER was. Any time someone even 15 years ago talked about class war, it so easily could have been pointed out that this "war" has been waged from the upper class and is winning it!
And that politicians have given them an unfiar advantage. Now it is even easier...talk about bailouts, hammer home the point that the upper-class "warriors" (the ones who don't have kids in Iraq) want socialized risk, but privatised profit. They win by "virtue" of their wealth giving them edges, we tax them LESS, but they lose by incompetance and avirice, by unadulterated greed and lack of foresight or morals....WE PAY.
Enough have seen that one. Individuals can go piss up a rope, but institutions of finance can just be as bad as they wanna be, they get bailed out.
And Shirley, I know the type. A nasty ugly looking piece of work like McCain WOULD be overly obsessed with outside appearances, looks. I totally believe that he called his wife the C word as he upbraided her for her makeup. I know those tightass types like McCain, and their iconic bullshit (I'm a POW so I am beyond reproach)...

Note to McCain: The POW business/excuse, whatever one wants to call it, passed its sell-by date over a dozen years ago in the last century.

politico has an article on the clinton-obama tension. bill wants to be the center of attention at the convention. i guess he thinks it should be about him and all he accomplished in the 90s (including helping to get us 8 years of GWB).
I agree Bill Clinton has an inflated ego probelm.. . .
Buuuuut . . . Bill Clinton should come to terms that it was because of him Hillary could not be considered for VP.

This week is about Obama, He will be a great president. I am so sick and tired of the faction of Clinton supporters who claim to be democrats and are voting for McSAME. I used to be somewhat sympathetic, but the media is trying to keep this riff up because it's interesting news. See USA today.
I wish these Clinton people would get over it. Yes, get over it already. If this is about Michigan, every model I have seen shows Obama would have won the state handily. Yes, I have seen studies that pinpoint neigborhoods in Michigan, and they all point to an overwheliming Obama win.
So be pissed at the Democratic party, and then move on. It's not Obama's fault. And if these PUMA people think somehow Hillary would have a chance to try again in 2012, do they really think the other 2/3rds of the democratic party are going to jump on board after this crap?
All you PUMA people are selfish, self loathing victims who are being manipulated by the right wing to vote against your interests. How stupid are you people??

I AM SO TIRED OF THE CLINTONS . . . What is there about them that they cannot accept the fact Hillary LOST.
This should be Obama's opportunity to celebrate his win , and cheer on the people wiith his plan of CHANGE and a better America for all. Instead he must bow down and apogetically soothe poor, poor Hillary . WHAT A CROCK ! This is not electing a class president, high school level . . . this is picking the best person possible to save our Nation. For God's sake GROW UP !

Thats it in a nutshell. And I will be waiting to see if Hil works her fat ass off to convince her bitches to vote for Obama, Bill too, but so far, I hav'n't seen anything like the efforts she was promising to put out. And I'll believe it when I see it, but I'm not holding my breath.

Obama is made of tuff stuff. I think he is holding back. Remember he beat all his opponents. The press is making issues between Hillary and Obama supporters. Hopefully they won't fall in that trap.

If they did get Hillary as VP - they'd also get Bill and he would damage the ticket. Can you imagine the slime the GOP would dig up about the two Clintons?

The guy's right.
I voted Repub before Bushie came in and applied Supply Side Voodoo Economics even more forcefully than Ronald (three tax hikes) Reagan did.
Now, I could never think of voting for the Robber Barons who've raped the Middle Class and left the Country a poorer place.
Class War: Hell Yes!
