AMERICAblog: Jewish liberals launch pro-peace alternative to AIPAC

  • jr · 1 year ago
I hope JStreetPAC is successful in pushing back against AIPAC and John Hagee's "Christians United For Israel"

    It's about time.

As if there is not enough chaos going on in this country right now. Good for them but this is not the time to do this because guess what, it is going to play into American politics, IMHO
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Very cool.

AIPAC sullies the reputation of a great people.

Also: Leader of Reform Judaism in US, Eric Yoffie, says movement mustn't work with Christian Zionist pastor (and McCrazy's supporter) John Hagee because latter rejects Israeli land concessions to achieve peace with Palestinians, disparages other religions.

Is anyone watching Hardball? Its a John McCain lovefest. They talked about campaign finance reform and Mathews didn't even bring up McCain breaking the law. Then McCain had the balls to say he will ask Obama to join him on accepting public funding.

Sooo...can we make the point that their treatment of the Palestinians is as bad as anyone has ever been treated, and maybe they should give back the land they stole in 1967?
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
And what ad pops up at the bottom of this thread? Free "Kabbalah personality test" -- yikes!

Yes, I heard a snippet of this J St. Pac (J St not actually existing in DC) on NPR coming home this am. Anything to help counteract the influence AIPAC has on Congress.

Israel snubs Carter mission to find peace AGAIN!
Carter's visit was, from the get-go, identified in Israel as a lose-lose situation. Indeed, it was preceded by plans for a visit by a group called the "Elders" - Carter, former Irish president and UN high commissioner for human rights Mary Robinson, South African Bishop Desmond Tutu and former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan.

Snub Israel...they're not interested in peace, only land grabs and starving the Palestinians out of Gaza.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
Anyone opposing AIPAC is fine with me...let's give em a chance...

Its not that Aipac is antipeace but JStreet loudly supports peace through a two state solution. I can't wait to write my first check!
  • alfannaan · 1 year ago
ُEveryone wants a 2-state solution except the extremists/corrupt leaders - Likud, Hamas, BushCo and Fatah. Too bad they are all in power just now.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
How very interesting and a good thing. I am glad to see some push back.

Look who is the economic advisor to John McCain......Hassett from the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) the Zio-Con shadow government body who brought us the Iraq war...........what is humorous if there is anything humorous is that the AEI now pretends that they hardly know G.W. Bush because their policies have been a disaster and a total failure.....if you Google the American Enterprise Institute and look to see who is involved with them, you will see a roster that has held power in this country from the beginning of the Bush era, most have either been in his cabinet or have been directing policy at the Pentagon.

If this group and Mr. Ben-Ami will also push for Israel to return to the '67 border and to pay adequate reparations to Palestinians, then I'm all for it.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
The Palestinians don't want a return to the '67 border. Why push for something nobody wants? Hamas rules Palestine and their stated goal is the eradication of the entire state of Israel.
  • alfannaan · 1 year ago
the palestinian people are just fine with this - it's their leaders, like the israeli leaders, who are not behind it. fatah guys at the top get richer if they play along and make no progress, israel gets closer to taking more and more of the west bank which is the whole point of the occupation (the massive US aid has helped them create their own military -industrial complex), and hamas (which israel helped to get on its feet for the very reason it would one day fracture the palestinian political scene - yay!) are harnessing a people's desperation and with no apparent vision or practical plan, making an ugly mess of their own.
there is overwhelming support in the populace of all countries involved for a peaceful 2-state solution.

my 2nd post was meant as a reply to busboy - but it doesn't appear to have posted as such.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Does this mean that Jimmy Carter's bootlicking trip to the Hamas stronghold won't work?
