AMERICAblog: John McCain blasts Social Security as an "absolute disgrace"

  • Butch1 · 1 year ago
In typical John McSame fashion, he blames democrats for this problem. Aren't you glad Bush didn't get his way before the markets went south? All privatizing retirement funds does is make those on Wall Street richer. Everyone would have lost their retirement if they had followed Bush when he wanted to do this. Yet, McSame wants to try it. I really hope people are not dumb enough to believe this baloney. If you want to fix Social Security quit taking money from it. They shouldn't go near that money yet the republicans want to handle it just like they have handled the economy. Do we really trust these people to be looking after the common man's interests? I know I don't.

Who the fuck needs SS when your Rodeo Queen wife, with the shiity faux Chanel suits and the REALLY bad hair and lifts has millions in her pocket.

My fave new book, "Scottsdale and Phoenix on $50,000 a Day" by Cindy McSame. The new money guide to shopping in the desert heat.

So MoreWar McCain thinks Social Security is a disgrace...I would assume that also means Social Security Disability for the disabled.

But his disability pension is okay I guess.

    From the LA Times:

When McCain released his tax return for 2007 , he separately disclosed that he received a pension of $58,358 that was not listed as income on his return.

On Monday, McCain’s staff identified the retirement benefit as a “disability pension” and said that McCain “was retired as disabled because of his limited body movements due to injuries as a POW.”

Certain types of military and veterans pensions are either partially or completely tax-exempt, depending on the seriousness of the disability. In McCain’s case, the exemption is 100%.

"Unlike most people old enough for Social Security, John McCain think it's an "absolute disgrace." Like Bush, McCain has repeatedly said he wants to privatize Social Security."

Oops, I know some AARPers who are not gonna like what he said at all as most senior citizens depend on this "absolute disgrace" to pay for food, medication and other necessities. Too bad they can't all have a millionaire for a spouse like the elitist John McCain.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Yes, McCain! I hope he keeps this up BECAUSE there is no surer way to move Republican seniors to the Democratic rolls in November. The public was against Bush's privatization before and with the markets going in the dumps, I doubt that is going to change.

According to mee, not french position, John McBush or McBom, is very old and bad guy ! Sorry for his support. http://allainjulesblog.blogspot.com/

If I remember correctly when JFK was President he turned down the salary....which at that time I believe was $100,000/yr.

Why don't all those who are so against Soc Security turn it down (if allowed to do so by law)...
and at least show compassion for those who so desperately need it .
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
JFK didn't turn down his salary. He still collected it, but then he donated it to charity. Jackie was irked that he didn't simply give it to her, because she was spending $100,000 a year on clothes (a factoid which the White House worked hard to keep from leaking).

When Jack saw Jackie's bills, he reportedly griped that if he didn't have a private income, she'd bankrupt him.

I think they should give a 50% tax credit to anyone who refuses to take their social security so that there will be enough funds to pay, and possibly raise the pay, to those who are totally dependent on it
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
AQ2, please leave. You make too much sense...
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Why the hell isn't the press reaming McCain's ass? Monday it was the "I am for the vets" BS. Today it is "I have never been for privatization". Every damn day the man is spewing forth nothing but lies, does the press care NO!!!
How the hell are the Dems going to reach the general voting population if the main stream media keeps giving this man a free ride on the bullshit express?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
    Hey Busboy

How you been? You do know that it may get really heated in here over the next few months, you got your armor ready?
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Hello there Aquarius! It seems that Busboy is starting to play dirty, so be on your guard my dear.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Quit trying to poison the waterhole, Polly. Your candidate has lead feet; and, you won't admit it. I'm so glad that I don't have a candidate this time around.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Why don't you stop getting your political opinions mixed up with personal feelings about people online?

If you would have asked me, or read anything I have posted for the past month or so you would have seen how angry I am at Obama, but rather than do so you seem to want to get down and dirty.

    * If you don't agree with what I say on politics, than please say so and if you don't want to be friends or "CHAT" than don't do so; the choice of the two SEPARATE issues is yours.

Given your current tenor, it might be best to NOT mix up the two.
    .
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Polly, please quit pontificating and revert to your normal irascible self. No one is ever going to approach your distorted view of "political purity"; so, you might as well get off your "high horse".
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
    Busboy,
Who is pontificating? And as far as "political purity" goes, I haven't once spoken to you about Obama, McCain or Hillary since it does not seem to interest you at this time. Now again, who exactly is the one with the hot temper?

Please, let's just stop this nonsense as it has become painful and dreary both.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Hey, AQ2, I'm untouchable because I think both candidates would send their own wives to Gitmo in order to get elected.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
LOL! I disagree. I think Cindy wants to be First Lady so badly she would keep John on life support and hire a look alike to make his speeches. I think Michele would beat the crap out of Barrack if he makes a false step in his quest.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
    LOL

Who needs social security when you have 8 homes, as John "8 Homes" McCain does?
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
What's truly disgraceful is McSame having a $100 million dollar Sugar Momma and not having the balls to admit it.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I've just been surprised that so many people still support old man McCain, but then again, Obama hasn't been proving himself to be the man he assured us he was either.

    I want my mommy...
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
McCain wants to balance the budget by eliminating Social Security and Medicare.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
...unfortunately he will do just that if he becomes our next Prez.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
so... mccain says its an 'absolute disgrace'...

then says 'how do you fix it? you sit down with the Democrats like tip o'neil and ronald reagan did the last time it was in trouble...'

umm... so, you're essentially saying that their 'fix' is an 'absolute disgrace' then??

way to go john mccain... blasting two conservative icons with one statement!!
that'll get ya the conservative voters for sure!!

    /snark
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
The market is only 147 points away from going under 11,000, and McCain is going to promote the privatization of SocialSecurity? I can only imagine what you younger people with 401Ks are going through with this market drop!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
he probably wants the private accounts to invest in real estate as well.

nothing like investing 100K into and account that'll be worth 25K in three years.

    yup, wonderful idea for retirement.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
The problem is that both McCain and Obama are going for ALL of the votes, thus not paying attention to any constituency except for the one(s) they plan to go for next.

Politics in this country has become such a dirty and vulgar game without any of the benefits to any group other than the most wealthy. Way to go America!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
the problem for THEM is... unlike a few generations back, their comments to one group are immediately aired for all the other groups they just dissed.

when it was a smalltown visit years ago... nobody outside that particular smalltown knew EXACTLY what the candidate said.

mccain is oblivious to the internet... even VCRS must be 'new fangled' to him.

how else can you explain him denying something in one interview that he's been captured saying REPEATEDLY in other interviews?

    .
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
And what a benefit it is to us all that we actually get to hear MOST of what they say, be it to us or some other group.

I'm truly disgruntled and depressed after today. I think I need a break from politics in specific and/or life in general.

Hawaii is looking awfully good to me right about now...I just wonder if Homeland Security will LET me fly...

  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
What's absolutely disgraceful is that except for his sugar mommy's money all his income (and education and healthcare) has been sucked from the government teat and he would deny those same benefits to everyone else.
  • BorninUSA · 1 year ago
McShame has the gall to say "we've mortgaged our children't futures" with Social Security! Our children's and our grandchildren's futures have been spent by Bush and his illegal war in Iraq. There are solutions to Social Security. But the repugs would rather steal the money in Social Security and then they can say, "Oh, look what the Democrats have done! They wasted away all of your future in Social Security!" It amazes me that there isn't anyone "smart" enought in the government to come up with a logical solution to Social Security. One way would be to keep government's hands out of the S.S. funds.
  • shell · 1 year ago
If you think Social Security is only for old people, think again. At age 49 (if this is old to you, you are very young -- haha) I had a debilitating stroke. If not for SS, I would have to ... I don't know. Live with my 20-something-year-old kids? In their 20s, how many kids have a home large enough to take in a crippled mother? Do/did you?

SS saved me. It allowed me to live in my own place, buy my own food, etc. It isn't a LOT, but enough to live on. (Since I didn't last until age 65, and spent so much money raising 3 children, I hadn't been able to save a bundle. Sadly, I thought that I could save a lot in the 15 years after my children were grown. Too bad the stroke happened a couple of months after my youngest graduated HS.) And, since I couldn't drive, gas prices and car cost/maintenance don't directly affect me.

John McCain can kiss my ass. I knew he lied, but this is strictly personal. I always think these politicians really DO know more than it seems, but then something like Pappy Bush and the market scanner happen, or McCain and the price of gas, and I realize they really ARE out of touch with normal Americans.
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
He'll have to pry my social security check from "my cold dead hands"........
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
Lift the cap on Social Security revenues. Make a buck, pay the SS tax on that buck. Stop allowing the super-rich (like Cougar McTart) to not pay their fair share.

The "disgrace" is that SS pays out so little to recipients. If we can afford to throw a $1 TRILLION dollar war, we can afford to take care of our own citizens. If not, then we need to stop wasting treasure on the Bush Wars.
  • shell · 1 year ago
YES! If *I* pay a certain percentage, why is that capped? If you make 10 million a year, pay that percentage on ALL INCOME.
  • dciii · 1 year ago
Looks like McCain was one of three senators who decided not to vote on FISA. I guess McNasty couldn't decide if he was wishy or washy today.
  • dciii · 1 year ago
    oops wrong thread.
  • benb · 1 year ago
I guess Social Security only becomes an absolute disgrace once you run for President. His party was in control 6 of the last 8 years and nothing has been done.

And thank god for that---no doubt Bush+McCain would have put SS funds into collateralized mortgage obligations.
  • nikto · 1 year ago
I'd be willing to bet that CINDY McCain has never had even 1 orgasm
that was caused by John McCain.

You just KNOW that's true, don'tcha'?

(OK, so it's OT, but IT'S IMPORTANT!)
  • medinasod · 1 year ago
This is a pretty weak post guys - he didn't say SS was an absolute disgrace. What he said was the fact that we are taking the $ being put into the system today and using it to pay current beneficiaries is a disgrace. He is dead wrong on the issue of solutions but lets not act like the GOP and twist words. This idiot gives us plenty of materials.

Nikto - your comment is out of bounds. Grow up and join the real debate.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
I love the he says we need to work across the isle like Tip and Reagan. Yeah right. He means lets work across the isle and do it the republican way. Even now the republicans block bills. Just look at the lates Medicare bill. The republicans don't want to fix SS. They want to destroy it. I would tell people to watch out what he wants to do by privatizing and investing in the stock market. My friend has a 401k and she is ready to pull what is left of her 401k. Our government is suppose to take care of our interests. We don't ask for charity but we expect our government to keep these companies on the right track. Government is not our problem its our congress and senate not enforcing the laws.
