AMERICAblog: John McCain has 13 cars. Barack Obama has 1.

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
One for each house, I guess.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
The Volkswagen Convertible has to be for his daughter.

Can't imagine Cindy in a Volkswagen and I can't imagine Face Cancer Boy in a convertible.

(But the Cadillac and the Lincoln sound perfect for Johnny Boy--I could just see him driving them to "the club.")

I'd be careful with this argument. While having 7-12 houses is elitist and out of reach of most people... Unfortunately here in the midwest it is not all too uncommon for a family to have 6+ cars, many being the above models. While I have a single car, there are several households on my street that have 5-7 cars, mostly as a result of kids living back at home. Makes finding parking such a joy.

I certainly don't agree with the need to have so many cars in a single household, just saying it may be more common that you think.

I believe this relates to a cummulative impact of 12 cars, 7-12 houses, private jet and so forth. Yet people try to make McCain look like the ordinary guy who can relate to ordinary people's problems.

I remember when I first went to industry from the government. My boss, a Fortune 500 VP, could not believe that I painted my own house, mowed my own grass and so forth. Yes, I had an income that really relieved me of those tasks, but why would I? Besides, my employees certainly could not afford such luxuries.

there's a much better defense. McCain spent 5-1/2 years in prison with no cars at all.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
You;re forgetting The Obama's only have one.

"Only the Cadillac is registered in the candidate's name. Cindy McCain's name is on 11 vehicles, though not the one she actually drives. That car, a Lexus, is registered to her family's beer-distributor business and is outfitted with personalized plates that read MS BUD."

    What a duo.

Oh come on! Which ones are limousine conversions? My guess is at least the Honda sedan is a 120,000 foot limousine.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
And they will probable vote "yes" on giving away everyone's ability to pay for the next few cars.

If an unelected official has the ability to spend at least $700,000,000,000 of taxpayer dollars without Congressional oversight or court control why does any of this candy shit really matter. Hell, we would be jusrt as relevant talking about problems Britney Spears had with a recent Brazillian wax.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Congress looks like it will spend more time quizzing Roger Clemens about steoid use than it will in allowing an unelected official spend taxpayers dollars to the tune of at least $700,000,000,000. If DC were to disappear no tear here.

    Wow! Excellent point.
  • DorothyGale · 1 year ago
Did you notice how the article starts out?

"After the fuss over the number of residences owned by the two presidential nominees"

False equivalence. Did anyone at all ( who wasn't a complete psychotic ) care about Barack Obama's house? I thought I was reading a story crafted by the "Fair and Balanced" network!

In McCain's defense the three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles are really souped up golf carts...
  • martha · 1 year ago
OK. I'm watching MSNBC showing Palin's speech in Florida. This person may be president in a few months and she is a total airhead. No real journalist has been allowed to ask her a question, no one vetted her, she repeats talking points and lies and the people cheer. I used to think Bush was the worst, but I now know I was wrong, things could be much worse.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Saw that too....Obama is going to raise taxes on everyone and everything...what an airhead
  • TrappedinaRedState · 1 year ago
But these people BELIEVE this! I live in Florida and I had an argument with a guy yesterday who completely believes the lies that the McCain/Palin camp is putting out.

I honestly can't believe that people can be so stupid...
  • Sphy · 1 year ago
In McCain's defense, the three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles are really just souped up golf carts. I mean, who *DOESN'T* have three golf carts? ;) (sorry if double post)
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Thanks for that explanation of NEV. I couldn't figure out what the heck was an NEV
  • lsoderman · 1 year ago
    This part cracked me up:

"The McCains also own three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles, which are bubble-shaped cars popular in retirement communities."

Folks have been a bit reticent to point out his age. I think it's interesting that almost 25% of his cars are favored in retirement communities.

Sure, he's popular with seniors, he's one of them. Look at what he drives! At least he can see over the steering wheel.

Does McCain have a driver's license? I thought he was physically disabled.
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
Good question. If he's so disabled that he can't operate a computer, then he'd better not be driving.
  • butchcjg · 1 year ago
Totally not fair, John. How could John McCain scrape by with just one car? He needs at least one car at each house otherwise he'd have to fly around by private plane everywhere...

    Oh, wait...
  • freshpaint · 1 year ago
Each house has to have at least one, right?

But I thought Cindy had a chauffeur too!
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Notice how the foreign ones are the only fuel efficient of the whole lot? I suprised there are no Mercedes'.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Note that the only fuel efficient ones are foreign. I'm surprised there are no Mercedes'. I was sure he'd have a big, black Mercedes Sedan.

    Lexus. Lexis is computers/web/data.

Neighbourhood Electric Vehicle in AZ. They can only go 25mph by law. Tempe AZ and ASU use many GEMs for city and park vehicles. GEM was part of the DiamlerChryler thingy and I believe stayed with the Germans after the divorce (and Chrysler's remarriage to the three-headed dog).

I hope McCain doesn't actually drive himself. There are already plenty of snowbirds taking up the fast lane on the 101 North through Snottsdale.
Johnny isn't a real Arizonan. Just a carpetbagging, lying fool.

If he can't use a computer mouse, according to Rove, then he sure as hell should not be driving, anyway. He can't possibly turn his head to check over his shoulder before backing out of the Starbucks on Snottsdale and Indian School...if he is physically unfit to move a figgin' mouse!
  • catdance · 1 year ago
    Ms. Bud.

John's plates should be POW Rent Boy.

And Sarah? Ms. Piggy, of course.
  • Lucee · 1 year ago
OK, SO? McCain should have lots of cars--he's rich. Obama should have more than one car, after all, he works (right?) and his wife's supposedly an attorney. If Obama can't affoird more than one car, maybe he can't manage money...by the way, it's not a crime to enjoy the money you own and nobody I know aspires to poverty. That's a stupid thought, isn't it? Stop picking on McCains money and start wondering about a man who can't even manage his own finances well enough to afford two cars... IF that's what the inference here is, after all...

...and please pardon my typos, I am not a great typist...
