Mike Tyson refers to himself by his full name...(is that the same as in third person?) anyway. what does that tell you? is there such a thing as a cult of psychotic personality, maybe?

""You actually do," former Edwards blogger Tracy Russo responds, suggesting he try to explain Twitter to his grandmother and then ask her how that applies to governing."
Speaking of computer illiterate, I'm a web developer, i don't know exactly what Twitter is, but I do know how it applies to governing, with a user base of 0% of the population I'd say Twitter applies 0% to governing...

You have left over mashed potatoes and redo it into something else. It's the industrious way of doing things. My republican brother throws everything out after two days and that's why his food bill is alot higher than mine. I swear, I eat very well for less than 20 bucks a week.

I also added some of the salmon crokets for binding and flavor. Nothing's wasted here. I never have anything left to throw away.

I made fun of this earlier in the week as well, but after watching the clip, I actually feel bad for the staffer. He did not serve McCain well with that statement, even though it's probably true -- McCain knows the internet exists. Woo-hoo!

I disagree entirely. To me, you're "John Aravosis" unless I'm feeling particularly respectful; if I'm either talking to you or writing somewhere that you'll see it (like here), I'll say "John" or, since I don't know you personally, "Mr. Aravosis", but elsewhere, it's full name. I definitely refer to my boss by his last name unless I'm speaking to him or within his earshot, for instance. But I think it really varies by the person. Some people are just full name people, just like some are last name people and some are first name people (and some are middle name people). When I'm talking about John McCain, I use his full name; when I'm talking about Dear Leader, he's just Bush. Hillary Clinton is just Clinton, too, specifically because I don't want to call her anything different from Bill.

Is McCain able to type, or at least type without pain? We know he has arm function problems as a result of his war injuries - he can't brush his teeth for example. Could his lack of computer savvy have to do with his reluctance or inability to use his fingers easily for typing?
I have no idea - just throwing this out because if it is true, there could be blowback if this is exploited too much as a story.

McCain's lack of internet savvy is a sign all right! He's afraid to move forward and try new things.

What is this with calling McCain "John McCain"?
I seem to recall that Dan Quayle had the habit of referring to his running mate as "George Bush" all the time. Great minds, and all that.

This is the name you'll see and hear, especially on the ballot. Reinforcing the brand is a good idea, no matter how stupid it might seem on the surface. It's why politicians often refer to their opposites as "My opponent."

I mix with oldsters up to 95 YO. The vast majority at least trade emails with others. Some, the ex-engineers especially do much more. Still, about a third are still not online. These are not stupid people. They're all able to afford it. Either it's not important, or they're apprehensive. After they hear their friends complain about their computers, I can't blame them.

My mother uses the internet -- she is 83. And she lives in the reddest of states -- Oklahoma, where my high school classmates didn't even know what a Tech Writer was. I was a Tech Writer for 25 years before they even heard the term, except from me. (I moved to California when I was 22.)
Face it -- McCain is lazy. It is like Pappy Bush being amazed at a grocery store, at the scanners. It tickles me that the MSM says McCain is the only one safe to elect because he has been vetted by the DC elders. Yeah, we see that he has been in DC way too long. I call it the Pappy Bush Syndrome.

What is this with calling McCain "John McCain"?
He's been in Congress for 25 years, Congress has low approval ratings, his opponent is running as an outsider/reformer, and he's trying to position himself as a maverick, so dropping the "Senator" might be an attempt to do that.

"John McCain", in this case is a trademark. It's a brand name. That's how a lot of PR people think. You sell a person as he or she is a marketing concept.

This is why having a President who is not internet savvy actually matters. The president does actually have an affect on legislation regarding the internet. I just think the position of President of one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world requires a little more than a clue.
