AMERICAblog: John McCain pushes Cindy to compete in "essentially a topless beauty pageant. And occasionally bottomless, too."

Have you seen how Drudge is playing this one up? The meme is that McCain got a rousing welcome to a huge crowd. "Approving roar for McCain in heartland" says the link... But I'm looking at the picture he's using at the top of the page and am thinking this was a photoshop job. I hate to give Drudge more traffic, but does anyone else see it that way?

Hoo-boy, imagine the reaction if Obama had said that. And that, my friends, is all the proof you need of how hypocritical the media is.

Will the pageant be broadcast on C-Span?
Let's hope Cindy's beauty pageant competition goes better for her than her cookie recipe debacle.

Actually, it's going to be broadcast on C-Word.

In any case, if Cindy McPillpoppin' did flaunt her breasts, it wouldn't be very titillating--with all the face-lifts she's had, they'd be staring at a pair of kneecaps.

I'm surprised that Grampa McSame would want Cindi McTart to do this! Wasn't he embarrassed that last time when Cindi won 1st and 3rd in the wet t-shirt competition? The man has no shame.

John and Cindy McCain are just trying to out-do George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush.
Not many people know this but Barbara Bush won the Miss Midland Texas Cow Pattie Beauty Contest in 1878.

I bet Cindy is selling her cookies there with a little special treat added to it. Wink, Wink ! I guess this is what the Religious right loves. Hopefully the American people wake from their coma, before it to late and we get this idiot for 4 more years.

I can't wait till we get to the family values discussion after the conventions. All Grampa McSame will be able to do is grouse that Obama has less experience with women since he's only been married once.
Gonna be some fun.

Cindy sticks to the old coot like a burr on a sweater. So when is someone gonna ask her, "Since it worked out so well for you and the senator, have you told your daughters that it's OK for them to chase after married men?"
The most despicable, lying, trashy, Repugs, the SOBs, Swiftboat of Liars, have now targeted Obama. Get ready for Rethuglican garbage to hit the airwaves, and smear the Democratic candidate.
This is useless information and I don't think it is a good idea to go on about it--all it is doing is making him seem like a good ole' boy--don't fall into that trap. Stories like this are bunk and make whiners seem uptight and out of touch with blue collar folk.

I must disagree with you on this one. McCain along with his self righteous campaign, pride themselves on representing "Family Values" and how only 'they' can right our country. And this is how they proceed?
McCain's obvious misogyny is always front and center, it would seem, but this time his actions are so insulting, so horrendous that it is hard to not want to slam his tiny little head into the nearest wall.
If this group of Republicans want to claim the high ground and this is how they conduct themselves, then I say we call them on it! It not only is disgusting, but the "selling of his wifes breasts" is horribly insulting to women; and THAT is an issue in this election!

Yall are overlooking the fact that southern voters don't care if you cheat on your wife, screw a gay hooker, go topless, bottomless, or whataever. As long as you speak against gays, act like you play baseball, eat fried chicken, and don't seem too educated you are better than a gay/abortion loving liberal who wants to tax tax tax and get rid of religion. I don't think a lot of people on here really understand the mindset of southerners/blue collars. These are not educated people and don't need their politicans to practice what they preach.
LunaStick

As a southerner, I reluctantly have to agree. Many around these parts care more about what you say than what you do. Hipocricy is an unfamiliar concept.
jcgraham77
More than anything I just see McCain pushing Obama into an elitist corner and thus pulling voters away. We need to dig some dirt on McCain that will feed the masses--Medical records will work for me. Dimentia. A whisper campaign. Sundowners?
Polly_Tics
There is a plethora from which the Dems can draw upon for McCain; the more pointed question here is do they have the cojones to use any of it effectively?
Polly_Tics
The southern vote was not what I was originally addressing, but the much larger group which when broken down; some are concerned with family values and corruption and another section of the electorate concerned with misogyny.
The Southern vote is always an ample section of the vote, but that too is broken down into smaller sub sections as well.
jcgraham77
Yes I am replying to myself. But one more note. If we want to worry about pointing out the fact that the repugs dont' live by their own standards we might as well just go have drinks with John Kerry and Al Gore and see how it worked for them. We have to come up with dirtier dirt than the Repugs and their candidate. That is how US politics work. I am only 31 and I get this...I don't understand why the Dems in office don't...of course I was raised on Dallas, Dynasty, All My Children, and Days of Our Lives LOL
Polly_Tics
I may not understand the mindset of true "southerners/blue collars", but they are not the entirety of what we are speaking about here. They are one part of it, yes; but the "women's" vote is what I was addressing and a key part of where this election may hinge.
I am speaking about vulgarity AND misogyny here and those aspects cover a large portion of the electorate McCain is going after, thus it should be of concern.

Maybe blue collar people are full of shit and need to be educated. Going to a motorcycle rally is helping the country with what issues?
jcgraham77
The educated thing pushes them further away from Obama--they think you see them as uneducated so they embrace it. They want to vote for a guy that seems more like them. They don't get Obama--and they think they get McCain. It is going to be the dumbing down of the president just like Bush's first term--he acts stupid so he seems safe to the blue collar guys. Wesley Clark is the only thing going to balance that scale. He is more down to earth and local than McCain. You can't mudsling the man.
Polly_Tics
Look, everyone will NOT vote for ANY one candidate, this we all know; so why should Obama even attempt to go after a group of people who are turned off to education and policy? Yes, candidates should always go after all of the populous, however, when any group shows such disdain to a big part of who they actually may be, then why bother?
There are many OTHER groups to focus on where the efforts can do rewarded.
Mikki --SE Pennsylvania

Whatever they may be full of you can be sure NO ONE goes to that rally for the purpose of seeing a old broken-down political hack or his scrawny ignorant wife of the moment. The idea of her in the nude is pretty damned repugnant.

I love how the likes of Drudge are spinning this one....that it looks like he draws the same crowds as Obama...but then I realized...THOSE PEOPLE DIDN'T COME THERE TO SEE MCCAIN. They are there for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, the largest event of its kind in the world. It's quite a bit different than when thousands of people show up for an Obama speech.
Hell, by that measure, I could stand in the middle of a packed football stadium and say hi and then claim that I spoke in front of 75000 screaming people.
Whatever....spin spin spin McSame but you can't spin your way out of being Bush 2.0

Isn't that the truth? Rachal Maddow (Air America) said it right. The difference between the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign is that Obama DRAWS the big crowd and McCain FINDS the big crowd! I thought when McCain said, "...and with any luck, ..." she could be the first lady in the White House with such an honor (Miss Buffalo Chip). I thought this was HILARIOUS. McCain is not only out of touch with the working class, he's out of touch with EVERYBODY. Does he or anyone else in his band of Merry Men know exactly what the Miss Buffalo Chip beauty contest is? Well, if they didn't then, they do now. Geez!

Will a day ever come to America again, when the voters get real, substantial candidates to chose a president from? John McCain is such a common, petty, fool. If it's as easy to become a presidential candidate, as John McCain demonstrates clearly to us, then the pickens and the process stink. Is it simply because we are not demanding? Been neutralized? Don't care anymore? Pick anyone off the street willing to run and chances are they will be as good a president as McCain and of course GW, Ronald Reagan. Pretty sick picture. The system can't do better? Maybe that's because Wall Street doesn't want a strong, effective president, so get to pick a devisive moron who will annoy the viewers, oops I mean voters.

Cindy Buffalo Chips must like that kinda treatment; after all shes paying the bill for old Jonny to keep up all his stoopid talk. Anyway with all the pill-popping, I'd guess she doesn't care one way or another if she even realizes whats going on. And did anyone else notice the super baggy khakis Insane McBush3 was wearing for his Sturgis gig? So baggy they are not supposed to show his sooper-sized adult diapers and strap-on urinal. If my husband made comments in public like that about me, I would be phoning up the divorce lawyers a.) because he said them, and b.) because he was reading from notes. Verbal spouse abuse is real bad; scripted verbal spouse abuse is just enraging and ridiculous. And he also looks so, just, ineffectual, so lightweight - I can't believe this is actually a major US presidential candidate. And I can't believe the US electorate has accepted him as a candidate rather than just kindly directing him to his gated condominium/retirement home, in case he's wandered off 'cause his butler forgot to get his newspaper today.

family values Republicans are lots of laughs considering "Miss Buffalo Chip" videos can't be shown on TV for obvious reasons. I know people in Rapid City that run for the hills when these rowdies show up every year (plus they rent out their homes for over a thousand ). Who in the McCain campaign thought this was a good idea? Are you telling me no one outside of the upper Midwest (where I am) knows what goes on in Sturgis?
