AMERICAblog: "John McCain's family owns more homes than you own shoes."

  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
we're not wealthy, but one of my daughters seems to have channeled Imelda Marcos---she finds a way to buy shoes no matter what! She seems to share this trait with other women I have known. Maybe shoes are not the right commodity to query...
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Yeah, it's an analogy for guys....I don't think it works for women.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
I wouldn't put it past McCain to have a couple dozen pairs of shoes in each of his homes, some pumps, in black, red, and white, spiked heel sandals, some sexy Italian black leather, spike heel boots, etc. And then, let's see what Cindy has in her closets. <g>

Also, John McCain, the beneficiary of 7-8 houses and a $200K or so a year Senate Salary, the owner of a private jet, in addition and side by side with all odf this gets $60,000 from the military.

In fact, McCain, including his father, has never earned a legitimate paycheck from any entity other than the American taxpayer. John McCain is not too different from a welfare momma at old Cabrini Greeen hugging and holding to a box of gubment cheese. Our militiary, when it stays in wars with no end, is a social program for contractors and produceds people like McCain.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    that is $60,000 a year.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
The McCain record is like a series of train wrecks. Why are his military records and medical records still secret? We don't know much about McSame except that his behavior is not correct for one who aspires to the highest office we have.

John and Joe, why haven't you stated the obvious yet on this blog: if Obama loses it will be because of Hillary Clinton. We have all seen the polling data. Billary's insistence on running a nasty and bitter campaign led to this resentment towards Obama that we now see in the polls. JUST SAY IT: IF OBAMA LOSES ITS BILLARY'S FAULT!
  • mmedefarge · 1 year ago
I loathe the Clintons as well, but at this point the damage is done. We have to do the best we can despite her best efforts to undermine the values of the Party in her grab for power. I am disturbed by the lack of acknowledgement that most of the votes she garnered after Obama's sweep were from that segment of the populace whose bigotry would keep them from voting in their and their families' best interests. Most of her voters are not even going to vote for a Democrat in the election, no matter who the candidate is.
  • Moderation · 1 year ago
Which is pretty silly, considering the fact that Hillary herself keeps stating to the public, and to her own supporters in the few private meetings we've seen coverage of, that they should support Obama. All of the Hillary supporters voting for McCain are specifically going against the wishes of the very candidate they purport to support. Well, that, or they are Republicans who are attempting to divide the Democratic party from within. Nahhhh, it couldn't be that. It's not like there is some Operation out there with that exact agenda on the part of the right, right? It's not like a major Republican personality like Rush Limbaugh is going on the air and actively telling Republicans to conduct such operations, right?
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah right. Hillary is saying all of that crap, all the while Bill is slinging verbal arrows at Obama. Its good cop bad cop with the Clintons. Hillary is setting the stage for her run for the Dem nomination in '12 and Bill is trying to tear down Obama every chance he gets.

If Hillary really cared about the Democratic party she would call off the roll call vote and insist on a vote of acclamation for Obama.

The Clintons are ruining Obama's chances, and if he loses it will be all Billary's fault.
  • Moderation · 1 year ago
Bill be damned. Hillary IS actually saying that, and HAS been recorded saying just that in private meetings with her supporters. She likewise praised his choice of VP. Hillary's followers are more likely to listen to what SHE is telling them, than what her cheating husband is going on about. Sure, Hillary ran an unfortunately divisive primary, and her blows were too low. She's at least shown grace in her loss.

Fuck what Bill Clinton is saying. Bill seems much more out of control than Hill, and, honestly, much more pissed at this point. Hillary, on the other hand, likely realizes she can do more good, AND has more power if she ISN'T the VP. She is a NY Senator, and is no doubt on many short lists for the SCOTUS should an opening appear. VP is a step DOWN for Hillary, not a step up, regardless of the opinions of her most fanatical supporters.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Apparently those meetings weren't so private if people like you know about it.

Hillary and Bill are acting in concert. That much is obvious. Hillary is trying to improve her image for her '12 run. While Bill and even Hillary's brother, who is supporting McCain, are doing their very best to make sure McCain wins. Stop living in a fantasy. Hillary only cares about herself, and trying to become President. She doesn't care about the Democratic Party or our values.
  • Moderation · 1 year ago
YouTube is your friend. Private =/= closed off to communications in the day and age of phone cameras.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
I know what you are referring to. That meeting wasn't private, anyone of those post-menopausal senile females could have gone out and told anyone. She was still putting on a show. Don't be so naive.
  • Moderation · 1 year ago
Whatever you say, buddy. You are a pretty damned sore winner. Moreover, the "show" she puts on in public...i.e. the "show" that the vast majority of her supporters will, you know, ACTUALLY BE EXPOSED TO...has more weight with said supporters than whatever conspiracy you seem to think she and Bill are involved in that will somehow reach more of her supporters than her public statements.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Then why doesn't she call off the roll call vote, and suggest a vote of acclamation for Obama if she was so magnanimous?
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Geez- you Hillary haters need to give it a break. She ran as long and hard as she (anyone) was allowed to (if you don;t like the lenght of the Primaries, talk to your Sec of state about the 4-week solution).
When she didn't win she graciously gave it up to Obama, threw her support behind him, and asked all of Her supporters to do the same.
No one else is bitter about this like you Obamans against Hillary- even the die-hard Hillary supporters.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
And yet Bill can't seem to let it go. Maybe she should have a talk with her hubby if she really gave a damn. She doesn't fool me for a second. She is just trying to endear herself to the Dem party so she can run in '12, and all the while Billy boy is doing his best to make Obama look bad.

If it wasn't all about her why did she say McCain would be a better commander-in-chief? Answer me that.
  • Moderation · 1 year ago
Does Bill really seem like the sort to listen to Hillary? She couldn't reign him in during the primaries at all, when he was doing her campaign much harm.

Biden also said McCain would be a better C-in-C back then. Guess who is the VP candidate now? That's right, Joe freakin' Biden.

Hillary was my third choice, behind Edwards and Obama. Any of them are better than any Republican candidate offered this year, by quite a large margin. Hillary bowed out gracefully, and has thrown her support vocally behind Obama. What more would you like? You could show at least as much grace about winning as Hillary has shown in losing. Poor winners suck as badly as poor losers.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Why is Hillary's brother supporting McCain then. Care to explain that?

Biden said that about McCain in '05. He was not implying anything about Obama when he said that about McCain because Obama wasn't even running for President then. And this was before McCain took a sharp turn to the right. Good for you for buying into Republican Propaganda. You should be proud.

Hillary directly compared McCain to Obama. Biden didn't do that. There is a big difference.
  • WDemDem · 1 year ago
Answer me this - why did Biden say Obama wasn't ready to be POTUS but he would stand by McCain any day. If you're going to quote for your own vendetta, make sure you hit them all.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago

  • WDemDem · 1 year ago
In your own propoganda-loving way, you managed to ignore Biden's remarks about Obama during the debates. Same place as every other candidate vying for POTUS. Get over yourself. Obama wins or loses on his own merits. Period.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Of course, but he never said another Republican was better than Obama. Hillary did that. There is a big difference. Its perfectly reasonable attack your Democratic opponent, but it is unconscionable to say a Republican is better than a Democrat. Hillary did that, Biden didn't. That makes Hillary an awful person.

If Obama loses it is because it was her campaign that gave out the false perception that the Obama campaign was being sexist. There are tons of women who believe that lie.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
latest CNN poll has obama dropping to dead even with McCain, largely because he lost hillary people by not picking her for VP. bill and hillary have some work to do before i can seriously believe they want obama to win. next week will be the test.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
mmedefarge: I'm expecting sanity to surface with these "Clinton" supporters. They are decreasing by the day and are coming on board. If they were democrats they could not do otherwise.
  • DavidinChelseaMA · 1 year ago
The bottom line of this week is that McCain tried portraying Obama as out of touch, via Obama's ivy league education, and his background, when the REAL elitist is McCain, himself, who doesn't even know how many houses he owns. He has an INSANE amount of wealth, and flippantly said that he'd check with his staff on how many homes he had.

The right (i.e. Fox, et al) is trying to now make the whole thing seem simply like an issue of wealth, period, i.e. how many bathrooms does Biden have; Is his home a compound (see: Cavuto, on Fox, Saturday morning). It isn't merely wealth, but rather INSANE wealth, and McCain's flip response accentuating this, making McCain come off as the true elitist, out of touch candidate.
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
McSame is simply out of touch on so very many issues that it is beyond belief that he is going to be the nominee of the greed party? Perhaps there is another Cheney to run his show and we all know where this will lead the nation.

I don't think any of my shoes cost as much as those
fancy Italian loafers that McCain favors..
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
anarchy: Don't give up hope. With the election of the Republicans perhaps you will be able to afford better shoes. Have the past eight years been good for better quality shoes?
  • MrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel · 1 year ago
Yes, but the only taxes you need to pay on your shoes are sales tax at the time of purchase in most states. Cindy Lou Who? is four years in default in property taxes for the place in which her elderly auntie lives. Now that's warm, cuddly family values!
  • ron071 · 1 year ago
Just imagine the wealth total when Mitty is factored in and the Bain and Co. ex-employees come to the fore. What a ticket to the bank this will be. By the rich and for the rich will become the mantra for the trickle-down crowd. I'm still looking for the trickle.

    WANT MORE PAIN???????VOTE McCAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mark Halperin, asshat: "Class warfare! America loves John McCain; they KNOW he's not an elitist! Tony Rezko! Tony Rezko! Obama lives in a MANSION. None of McCain's houses, which he doesn't own but is so blessed to live in, is a MANSION!"
  • flashcard · 1 year ago
I own several pairs of shoes, the difference between John champagne wishes and caviar dreams McCain and me is that I remember how many shoes that I have. Also, unlike McCain, I bought my shoes.....they not weren't given to me.
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
having obliterated McCain's "elitist" calumny, Obama should next go after his record on veterans' issues. unlike Obama, McCain's strengths are only perceived strengths. this should make any attack doubly effective.
  • Asterix · 1 year ago
So, does anyone know how many homes Kerry owns?

    Not judging, just curious.
  • Mike_G · 1 year ago
The Repigs hammered Kerry for being rich, and called him an effeminate "kept man" because most of the wealth was his wife's. There was a media/Repig "What are they hiding?" full court press to get Teresa to release her tax records.

It's time for the McSames to get the same treatment, if anyone can track down which house they're staying in this weekend.
  • Asterix · 1 year ago
So, instead of talking about shoes and houses, why doesn't anyone come out and call McCain a "kept man"? Has he earned any money outside of that which he gets from the government?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
He's had a book or two, so he probably gets money from those.

The houses, the jet and all that stuff are under Cindy's name, tho, and Cindy bankrolled his entry into politics.

So, yeah, he's basically a kept (old) man.
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago

Oh, the questions I would love to ask Cindy:

    1. Would you be happy if your daughters were dating married men?

    2. You lied about being an only child, you lied about your "family" recipes, you lied about your drug addiction, you lied about meeting Mother Teresa, you even lied about your age while you were still in your twenties. Since your husband says judgment is important, what does it say about HIS judgment that he dumped his wife to marry a compulsive liar?
  • Shlomo · 1 year ago
I own 6 pairs of shoes which include 1 pair of sandals and one pair of steel toed boots for work, and all of fairly good quality. Altogether, I may have spent $300 on all six.
  • DavidinChelseaMA · 1 year ago
I have a LOT of shoes. But is that okay, if most of my shoes are from Marshall's, and T.J. Maxx?

Oh, and, for the record, Old Navy has some really good basic sneakers that got me through the summer. Seriously, their Converse knock-offs are sweet.

But I digress. McSame is an elitist snob.
  • Redphilly · 1 year ago
If McCain is admitting to having 7 houses that means he really has at least 15! Someone said it is fine to have as many houses as you want if you have a rich wife. So why did he look so guilty when asked? McCain could be housing a whole other wife and family in one of those houses and Cindy would never even know.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I don't care how rich McCain's family may be, they could never match me in the shoe department!
