AMERICAblog: John McCain's first wife

  • gumboman · 1 year ago
Even though this is old news I hope that the media reports on this. Vid folks will hopefully make more youtube stuff on this material. The public needs to know who the real John McSame is
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
Sounds like a typical member of the GOP to me.
  • JMOHR · 1 year ago
Yes, we such attention paid to lapel flag pins, very loose associations with certain people but not how the moral values of a candidate played out in actual life.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
Haha...the lapel pin story etc won't stand up to this kind of behavior. You want to see the conservative soccer moms unite agains McCain just wait til this hits the 5oclock news. Hahahaha.

Wow, and to think I felt sorry for him after the way the bush team treated him in the presidential primary of 2000. If I didn't read blogs I would have never known there was a first Mrs. McCain.
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
McSame said he fell in love with Cindy the first night they met. What man wouldn't after finding out about her hundred million sterling qualities.
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Not exactly the story I have seen floating around the internet - but nice to see the truth (I'm sure it was but didn't see it). And this guy has the gall to deny gays the right to marry? "...until death do us part". What a joke. McLame is about as 2 faced as they come. I don't care about his personal life, and who he marries or doesn't marry, but I do care about the fact that his entire life has been one of deceit, bigotry and hypocrisy.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    Men are pigs! :)
So, Mr McCain, In retrospect, would you leave your 3 young kids behind again and move 2500 miles away from them to be with your mistress/new wife, or would you have Cindy move to Washington DC?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
Yup... that john mccain... definitely a man of character.

Carol stands by him... guess he never called her a c**t?
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
Kind of reminds me of Bob Dole in 96. His 2nd wife was pushing about what a loyal, family guy he was, when the fact was he fooled around on his first wife and eventually divorced her. He was also a pretty absent father. Thats why they backed off on Clinton, because their own guy was in some ways much worse.
  • MrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel · 1 year ago
Bob Dole had a daughter, Robin, by his first wife. He rarely saw his daughter until he ran for President and dragged this grown woman whom he barely knew around on the campaign trail. Several writers have documented that Maureen Reagan, R's eldest, was simply desperate to have a family, any kind of family, even with Nancy in it, and that's why she spent so much time campaigning for her father.
  • dcs · 1 year ago
    Heck of a guy!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I think the MSM should have Carol mccain on every morning show, telling her story and asking everyone to vote for her former philandering husband.

    Stockholm syndrome maybe?
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
How about this for a reason - she and McCain share a child, who likely loves and supports his/her dad, and speaking out against him could cause great damage to the mother/child relationship.

No need to look for further explanations. The same applies to other ex-spouses of Presidential candidates.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
yup, never heard of a spiteful ex before... nope, all splits are amicable.

and this "child" you speak of? (actually, four children I think... he adopted her kids from her first marriage)... I believe they're in their 40's now aren't they?

nope, don't want to damage the mother/child relationship even though they're adults who know what their mother went through in the breakup... and what their father did to get into politics.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
Just because the children are now in their 40s makes no difference as to how damaging it could be to their relationship with their mother if a major public break took place.

Jane Wyman's children with Reagan were also adults. She never spoke up. Nor have any other exex of presidential candidates.

I stand by my point that their mutual children's feelings - no matter what their ages - stands as a likely significant reason for her silence.
  • LeeBurl · 1 year ago
If this were a Democrat we were talking about, the media would be covering this 24/7.
  • meemers · 1 year ago
You are absolutely right on that point! It would be round the clock fodder on FOX. I have taken this story and e-mailed it to everyone in my address book!
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
This is why we need the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE back.
  • hopelesspedant · 1 year ago
Even if there were a revived Fairness Doctrine, it would not apply to Fox News, CNN, MSNBC or any other cable outlet. Under FCC jurisdiction, it only would apply to broadcast networks and stations, which is appropriate,
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
"Carol stands by him... guess he never called her a c**t?"

Maybe she likes it. You would have to be pretty masochistic to marry a guy that dumped his sick wife for you. How on earth could you trust him? Sure Cindy's money will keep him around but he obviously doesn't respect women.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago

The woman has self-esteem issues as she is so afraid to say anything bad about McCrazyCain.

Or perhaps she does not want to lose any $$$ that he is giving her?
  • johnosahon · 1 year ago
actually she is not saying anything because mccain still pays her medical bills. If i was her, i will KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT TOO.

Two important facts not mentioned about this article:

    1) This is an English paper here, so it has far less significance so far.

    However:

    2) It is a Rupert Murdoch-owned paper, so he will need to decide if he wants to push it, which he likely will if he wants to be seen as getting on the Obama bandwagon (about which he has already given hints).

LMAO! oh my! I would pay to see that!
  • katymine · 1 year ago
As the mother of two non-white adopted children, I knew since the 2000 McCain campaign that he has NO family values. NO one would be allowed to trash my children.....

A man who cannot stand up and defend his children AND then kisses the a** of that person (or group) who did the trashing has NO principles, values or ethics.

btw.... ya think my senator McBush could show up to work once in a while and actually VOTE for things that the people of Arizona would like? He has missed more votes than Sen. Tim Johnson .......
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
I too had felt sorry for him when the GOP was trashing his brown daughter in the South. they started that "black love child" whisper campaign and sent the fundies and racists running towards another Bush term. there is no way in hell I would cozy up to that bunch of a$$holes after they treated my family like that.
When the GOP started trashing the Obamas, Barack went on the Today show and said (in a nice way) "I'm fair game, but lay off my family. And if you pick on a man's family, you are a coward."
  • ChicagoKid · 1 year ago
Why isn't the MSM looking into the fact that Cindy had(has) a worse drug habit than Rush Limbaugh?! At least Rush wasn't blaming his use on subordinates or stealing them from his company.

So let me get this right.....McCain is against letting me marry the person I love, and spend the rest of my life with, in sickness and in health, but he can marry and divorce at will, and leave the wreckage of marriage behind him. He is gross, and we need to keep this story alive.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago

  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
But Ross Perot, who paid her medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both Carol McCain and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel – even by the standards of modern politics.

‘McCain is the classic opportunist. He’s always reaching for attention and glory,’ he said.

‘After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.’

    ----

Ah, this is why I voted for Perot, despite all the craziness.

He really cuts through the bullshit.
  • djhwood · 1 year ago
You know...me thinks that there are enough of McCain's ol' buddies that feel he's a scum to start our own "swiftboat" campaign.....!!
  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
When Perot owned EDS, he fired adulterers.

There's another reason he despises McCain: Perot thinks there were living POWs who were not released with McCain and the others, and that McCain knows it and abandoned them. Much as I hate to give any credit to McCain, Perot is a bona fide conspiracy nut, and on this issue I feel certain he's in la-la land.
  • MorgaineSwann · 1 year ago
I'd take Ross Perot's word over John McCain's any day. Did you catch the part where Perot was giving support to POW's families, and that's how he paid Carol's medical bills? He may have some unusual ideas, but that's a good-hearted person. McCain is slime.

This is going to get a lot of hits in the coming months. Obama is going to look like a saint compared to this guy.
  • Pax_Peace · 1 year ago
This is a tough one. I think McCain is pretty much Bush 2.0 But I also have a small amount of sympathy for him. Yes, he divorced his wife. She was no longer beautiful, but he was also a young man in the prime of life who returned from a horrible experience only to find out things were not exactly as he had left them. This happens to a lot of soldiers. In this case it shows some weakness of character, but it's nothing many others haven't done before. It does not appear that he tried to screw her in the divorce (correct me if I am wrong). Going after a beauty queen with millions isn't a crime either. It's opportunistic, but not a crime. He is perhaps guilty of being shallow.

In short I find him as flawed as my fellow men. He served his country, he married a rich woman, he swears, he raised several kids who are actually serving in the military. He is a mixed bag like many of us.

What I truly HATE is when ANY politician starts spouting off about morals, the sanctity of marriage or protecting the institution therein. The government really has no business in my bedroom.

I'll hammer McCain of his policies and his political failures, not as much on his personal failures.
  • MorgaineSwann · 1 year ago
I'm not that forgiving. I have no patience with someone who swears to love someone for the rest of their lives and then cheats on them when they become disabled and dumps them when some rich cowgirl comes along. I'm very sorry he suffered for his country, but his wife suffered, too, and he had no empathy for her at all. She states in the article that he left because he was having a midlife crisis. She still loves the bastard. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher.
  • IAmATVJunkie · 1 year ago
Pax_Peace, not for nothng but he did say he's be married to her till death do they part. And he was no young man in the prime of his life, he was 40 and spent years getting the crap kicked outta him.

You would think he would have had a bit more compassion for the woman he married when he himself went through such hell.

I know I'd like my president to be better than that. Some weakness of character? Lots more than some, I say.

Why does nobody ever question how Cindy's family came into her $100M?

Google Hensley Marley and read about her felon father, Jim Hensley, and how he came into ownership of the beer distributorship.

More interesting, Google Hensley McCain Bolles. This is the "What Color is Your Parachute?" Bolles, murdered years ago in Arizona (still unsolved).
  • swizzlebat · 1 year ago
Actually, you're wrong about the Bolles in this story. Richard Bolles is very alive and working on the 2009 "Hard Times" edition of "What Color is Your Parachute." I know because I did production for that book and its publisher, Ten Speed Press. I think you have someone else in mind.
  • Schmedlap · 1 year ago
Your right. The murdered reporter was Don Bolles, brother of Richard Nelson Bolles, author of "What Color is Your Parachute?".
  • LawMichigander · 1 year ago
    My God!!!!!!!!!

This story actualy makes me want to throw up. McCain got as far as he did because of Ross Perot's donation of support to his first wife's medical services because McCain was a POW and then Mrs. Reagen felt bad for Carol and liked her and that got him a leg up to. So McCain used his loving first wife to get to Cindy and now uses her. What does he have that women want, wtf. He is a eel in snake's clothing.
  • JoyceH · 1 year ago
This is a good story to push, but I want to inject a note of caution. One of the most vitriolic quotes in the article is from Ted Sampley. I would hate for Democrats to think, oh, hey a McCain critic! and start giving this guy credence.

Ted Sampley is an over-the-top lunatic and fraud who's been out to get McCain literally for decades. He's got a down on McCain because McCain's Senate work on the POW issue got in the way of Sampley's main source of income, which is to cynically and fraudulently prey on the hopes and fears of POW families.

So be advised - do NOT pursue or publicize a story when the SOLE source is Ted Sampley. Taking this guy seriously would result in damage to the credibility of anyone.

That said - go with this story. It's got devastating quotes from Carol and also from Ross Perot, who was practically the patron saint of POWS during and after the Vietnam War.
  • KerrynowCampau · 1 year ago
"What does he have that women want, wtf. "

I keep wondering that myself. Was he hailed as a hero for his Vietnam captivity?
If he ever used to be good looking or kind, I sure don't see any of that left in todays mccain.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
this story is really gonna piss McFamilyValues off...
  • okojo · 1 year ago
Any article quoting Ted Sampley, should be taken with a huge grain of salt. Sampley was helping in a big way Rove's South Carolina operation during the 2000 primary. Sampley has a bone to pick with McCain for a myriad of reasons, number one was the POW/MIA hearings in 1992. Talk about a scumbag/sleazeball, Sampley makes or made his money manipulating the POW/MIA issue. He should be arrested, IMHO.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
I'd be careful with this...the next thing you know, McBush will be saying, "But at least I didn't have a blow job in the WH."

BTW, McBush seems to prefer taller women; he's 5' 7" tall, and both his wives were/are at least an inch taller than him. Perhaps he has a fetish of some sort? Loves dominatrices, perhaps? I mean, tell the truth--can't you just see Cindy done up in black patent leather in 6 inch stilletos with a whip?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
there sure are lots of commenters concerned about Ted Sampley...he went after John Kerry not so long ago too...at least he's an equal opportunity hit man.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Sanctity of marriage!!!

We need video of McSame explaining to Ellen Degeneres why he thinks her marriage shouldn't be considered the same as his, followed by this article.
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
A Republican acquaintance of mine comes from a long-line Navy family and she told me a while ago that she would NEVER vote for McCain because of how he treated his first wife who worked tirelessly for the POW's in captivity and then got 'dumped' when he came home a 'hero' who wanted a trophy wife. This from a rabid Republican who attended functions with McCain, who she labeled a 'skirt-chaser' and Cindy, who she labeled a 'slut'......
  • SociologistTina · 1 year ago
Such a sad story. Thanks for posting that, John.
  • buddyrog · 1 year ago
I think that any man that leaves a wife after an accident like that should be hung. She was waiting for him when he was in Vietnam, and had 3 children by him and she was all a man wanted. Just because she had that horrible accident that left her in a that condition should be all the reason why he should have stayed with her. I'm married for 43 years and lost a son 17 years ago and in the past 5 years my health as deteriorated. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia and osteosporosis and my husband caters to me like tomorrow would be our last day. I thank God everyday to have given me such a good husband and Carol should have gotten the same. Thank you reader, Rita

GO MCCAIN, LET THE PERFECT OUT THERE THROW THE FIRST STONE, YEAH JUST AS I THOUGHT, NOT ONE OF YOU ARE PERFECT. HE FOUGHT FOR USA SOMETIMES AFTER BEING IN WAR AND POW THINGS CHANGE...HIS FIRST WIFE CAROL IS FORGIVING WHO ARE YOU NOT TO? GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOD BLESS FUTURE PRES. JOHN MCCAIN!
DON'T BE SO UNFAIR! LIFE GOES ON........LET BY GONES BE BY GONES! SEARCH YOUR OWN LIFE! "PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES DON'T THROW STONES"
  • lme · 1 year ago
A previous respondent (XTRSMRT) seems to think that the author of this article and some readers are unfairly haranguing McCain. I don't think so. Yes, we all make mistakes, but some of us make mistakes that are more severe, more cruel and more frequent. And yes, none of us is perfect, but we don't all advertise ourselves as paragons of virtue. I would not hold myself up as a model of virtue if I deserted my spouse. Even though I have repeatedly been geographically separated from my spouse for long periods of time, I wouldn't advertise myself as a role model if I dumped my spouse. --LME, a veteran of the US Armed Forces

Anyways, im an Obama Supporter, but i have one thing to say about this article for all the guys out there...

    I mean, WOULDN'T YOU?

And for the girls out there, McCain is just taking a role of what girls usually do
You see girls do it all the time.....A young hot girl would instantly leave their broke bf for a millionaire or etc.

And im pretty sure he wans't doing it for financial reason, he was doing it, because that wife Cindy is HOT

I would, and i bet all you guys would too...

but yeah im an Obama supporter cause i hope for a better america. Do you want a president who would use dirty tactics while in office? With Sarah Pallin having a chance to abuse her power too?
