AMERICAblog: John McCain's gimmick: He doesn't even know Sarah Palin. They've only met once, maybe twice.

  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
This really sounds bad. Imagine picking your VP never having met the person, or known the person. She is totally out of place in this arena. She seems a bit naive and not suitable at all to be a President, if the need arises. McCain has yet again, shown bad judgment. Obviously he thinks she will bring in the women voters, and the gun owners, and also win Alaska, but he is thinking once again, of his own needs, and not the needs of this country.

It will be a disaster to vote for McPain/Palin.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
typical pick by a Republican man of his generation.
A woman! It's so historic! It's so new!

Except she's more of the same than McSame ever was.
She erases the last of his claim to The Maverick.

    goodie.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
except... and I say this for the third time.

she might be evangelical... but evangelicals believe a woman's place is in the home... even MORE SO if she has children.

she's gonna be a tough sell to them... they already don't trust mcsame.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    very true soundboy...

Daddy Dobson might not be pleased that she runs off and leaves her husband and children behind...
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Was she even vetted? So far it seems like perhaps now. My guess is this was what Rove and others wanted and they just pushed her on thru.

God I hope there is just tons of crap that comes out about her....
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I truely think they vetted almost EVERYONE, and she's the closest they could find to someone that might sway moderates and pick up the GOP base votes... and maybe the remainder of Hillary's "no Hillary? I'm voting mccain!" assholes.

the sad part is... they vetted EVERYONE and she's what they came up with as viable.

that says all you need to know about repugnicans.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
TRUE!!!!! I get the same idea. McCain=country first my a$$!!!!!!

really, he would want to leave our country in the hands of some PTA secretary type? that's who he wants to ride shotgun as he heads down to the gates of hell to find bin laden?
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
If they vetted her, they definitely forgot, or didn't know how, to "do the google" on her.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
even with a google search... she hasn't been charged with anything, she isn't mega-rich, she's a woman (that Hillary vote thing?), she isn't old school GOP... I think she WAS vetted, against everyone else who fits those other catagories.

her "experience" in government had nothing to do with the process, obviously.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Guess what folks? She even says "nookuler" like Bush does!!!!!

The Rethugs sure know how to pick 'em.

    Dear Mrs. Palin,
What is it about John McCain that makes you want to serve him?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    isn't that obvious?

    he was a POW!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
I know how McCain picked her?

He took up the offer of 30 days free membership on MATCH.COM

Too funny. Saturday Night Live could do a show everyday of the week with this material.

Karen's got bigger boobs... then again, cindy had hers done didn't she?

there's hope for sarah palin yet.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
And she supposedly, according to Andrew Sullivan (whose crush on her lasted exactly 3.4 hours this afternoon), claims to KNOW gay people (just like Karen!)
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
You know what I want to see, and fast? A statement from Hillary Rodham Clinton. If she truly supports Obama 100%, she will be out there tonight or this weekend with talk about Palin and how she feels it's an obvious attempt to woo her voters and how Palin is pro-life, etc etc.

Hello HRC? Are you listening? We are....

I'm listening to NPR and I just heard them refer to Sarah Palin as the "sometime maverick governor of Alaska", guess the media received their talking points already.

Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas, I totally agree! And I posted during the announcement when they broke into The View!

where does Moose fit into the gay cliques?
  • JamesR · 1 year ago
...There is such a thing called "moose toe." I suppose one could go hunting for that.

It's ugly though. Let's just say we went there and not.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
I've always heard it called camel toe... same thing I'm sure.
  • JamesR · 1 year ago
Same thing, on a male, kinda redneck. Do the Google. A local grown Alaska phenom, not a mid-East Arab beast.
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
    Why she was picked?
A mixture of Rove had some Blackmail on her and you know how some women get post partum depression...I think there is something seriously wrong with her judgement. I know that may sound harsh..too harsh....but come on....

On March 5th, 2008 Alaska's Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.

The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear preganant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months. While this is debatable, you can judge for yourself here: http://gov.state.ak.us/photos.php

Second, Palin's daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

I honestly don't think she has been fully vetted like other candidates. There are already too many odd stories coming out. If there is even anything REMOTELY out there, it will come up, rest assured. In this day and age, no stone is left unturned. Sad but true...
  • DCinDC · 1 year ago
Why was she selected? I think McCain has no idea what he is doing. Let's just call it as it is. McCain is lost in the woods and has no idea which way is north. McCain is another idiot like Bush!
  • cougars · 1 year ago
John McCain suffers from a severe lack of judgement. Perhaps alzheimers is setting in. My grandfather went back to his womanizing youth when he got alzheimers. He used to get caught in bed with old ladies at the home much to the horror of their family members when they visited and found him happily snuggled up in a hospital bed with their grandmothers. A pretty young thing who can load a shotgun is a tantalizing thing to an old republican with dementia. And Cindy's gettin up there in years. She isn't just that child he married anymore. Gotta have a fresh piece of ass to grope. Brains isn't exactly a sought after quality in the republican party anyway. They gave us Bush after all. Beauty Queen is right up there with male cheerleader. A virtual lockin for GOP support.
  • Joneses · 1 year ago
McCain has no say so and is controlled by Rove, Cheney, Bush Sr., and others. I kinda pitty him, but hey, he is a grown man.

As to Palin, that's sounds like a "Outer Limits" episode. Just strange. Wouldn't it be something that her fifth child is actually her grandchild. Just tell the truth, oh wait, although these people are so religious, they can really lie in your front with a smile.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
She doesn't just look like Karen from the old gay sit-com, Will and Grace. She walks like Karen. I'm eager to learn whether she also drinks like Karen.
    My favorite dialogue:
Karen: Rosario took me shopping in a Puerto Rican market today. It was wonderful!
    Rosario: Stupid! That was Macy's!
Karen: "Macy's." Oh, you! Now you've got me speaking Spanish.
    [laugh track!]

I think folks need to hit on parts of Palins speech, she said that women aren't done breaking those 18 million cracks in the ceiling....What a slap to Clinton, Clinton and Clinton alone managed those 18 million votes and to have some whoseit? come in from Alaska and basically say,,sorry chump, you couldn't do it, watch me....Palin couldn't garner 18 votes I think. Also NPR just reported that 24 hours before the announcement there was an extreme amount of editing to her wikipedia page...so much so that the editor put a restriction on editing.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Whoever wants to do the research (I'm sure some people probably already are), you can go to her page on Wiki and click on history and view all the changes that have been made. I looked and there have been more than a thousand changes today alone. I think you can also find out who or what IP address (McCain campaign staff perhaps?) made the changes. Cool thing is you can see what may have been scrubbed or edited out....

    Just a random thought.
  • mikeyDe · 1 year ago
McCain must have hired Grover Norquist to vet his selections. The goal is to destroy what's left of the Federal government after eight years of Bush. But then again, let's look on the bright side, at least she's no Dick Cheney.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
you've never been hunting with her... she might well be...
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
They met only once. But their eyes locked on each other, and both knew, in a heartbeat, that they were destined to be joined together for eternity. He was a broken man--physically and emotionally, who had given so much of himself in war to an ungrateful nation that spat upon and despised him and his fellow wounded warriors. She was just a hockey mom whose husband was a controlling roughneck roustabout in the oil fields and who could not give her the ultimate satisfaction she craved so much. When he put his horny, oily hands on her, and sought yet another child in the act of marital union, she felt her heart shudder, wondering when a sensitive older man, a war hero, would come into her desperate life of drudgery and heartbreak. When, in the depths of a longer winter's night, she gazed upon the tightly-wound, distinguished older gentleman, she felt, almost instinctively, that here, at long last, was the man who could awaken all the feminine power she had held in reserve, but so longed to release...

Finally, I get it. I see why McCain picked that woman for VP slot who has no idea what the heck she has to do:

Cuz you gotta have a gimmick!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
DOESN'T that look like Rachael Maddow sitting in the chair? I had to do a triple check.

    :)
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
<snerk> Any one of those strippers would have been a smarter choice... he might have been encouraging Cindy to enter Miss Buffalo Chip so he could pick her as his VP, but sadly she wouldn't go for it...
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
One good thing about picking her....

She can tuck John in when she tucks her own kids into bed.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
okay... mcsame's made his VP choice... THIS is the point that they should hit on

from mcsame's own mouth after Obama's speech: "The fact remains: Barack Obama is still not ready to be president."

the VP position is in case anything happens to the president... THAT'S what the vetting process is for, to determine whether or not the person is qualified to BE PRESIDENT NOT VP!

does mcsame think that palin is qualified to be PRESIDENT? given that he's only MET her ONCE?!?!? what does he base this decision on?

    political gimmicks.

  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
    SARAH PALIN dirt:

The Alaska Permanent Fund pays every man, woman and child in Alaska a "dividend" check based on the amount of OIL pumped out of the ground in the state. Each year that ranges between $1,500 and $2,000 per person. That "dividend" contributes to the high cost of gasoline and is paid by everyone in the Lower-48. Sarah Palin and her family have been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars since the Permanent Fund was started.

Moreover, Alaska is the biggest "Welfare State," because it receives over two-dollars in federal services and grants for EVERY dollar sent to Washington. So, while Alaska gets money for Bridges to Nowhere are being built in Alaska, aging bridges are falling down in the Lower-48.

In addition, Sarah Palin says she was AGAINST the Bridges to Nowhere, but she FAILS to say that she was FOR the Bridges to Nowhere before she FLIP-FLOPPED.

    :( :(

This is all true, and I am the Wild Weasel

What former Prison of War wouldn't have chosen Palin for VP of the USA?
    I mean, let's be honest.

It's the ONLY choice a former POW could have made, so let's lay off McPass on his choice, shall we?

The 'fact' that she gets up at 3:00 in the morning to go MOOSE HUNTING qualifies her to be VPOTUS????? Jeezus-effing-christ - is this what this country has come to??? That we think being a frickin mooser hunter qualifies you to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency?????????????????

Putin must be laughin his ass of.
  • Scottsdalian · 1 year ago
And who is going to answer that 3:00 AM phone call?

WH phone operator: "I'm sorry, Mr. Putin, but the President of the United States is not available - she's out MOOSE HUNTING."

Mr. Putin: "That's OK - we'll just go ahead and invade, then. Tell her I called."
  • venturarox · 1 year ago
It's fucking nuts. Nobody could be dumb enough to believe that this isn't some silly gimmick, and if they are they should be euthanized. It's like he's saying "You're black? Well I've got a woman!" Absolute madness. And not only is she a woman, but she makes up for all of the criticism McCain has suffered at the hands of the Evangelical Christian community. Obama lacks the experience necessary to stand in as president? The woman is the governor of Alaska! By these qualifications, I could govern a portion of the Sahara for a couple of years and be equally as qualified. And isn't it just oh so convenient that Alaska sits atop enormous oil reserves? McCain is through, and that's all there is to it.
