Perhaps anyone who treats McCain in a less than favorable why will be construed as a homosexual?

Wouldn't it be interesting to find out exactly when he started talking about the cross story. Since it was so significant why wasn't it mentioned in previous
articles. Certainly the fact that he states some of his captors are homosexuals
is weird. Didn't he say the other day at the Saddleback Forum that his guards only let them out a few minutes a day. How would he know they were homosexuals? He had very little contact with them. Something doesn't add up.

He has done nothing except crash a few jets, get captured, make propaganda videos and be a Senator, except oh yeah, turn his back on his family and marry the millionaires with the formica face. I'll bet that McSame thought that the "sadistic" guards were macho and manly and were therefore straight. The guards who weren't enjoying their "work" were obviously wussies and therefore teh gay. If my assumptions are anywhere near the way he sees the world, he is really a piece of... uh..work.

Perhaps McCain genuinely thought that since they gleefully torturted the prisoners, that made them gay. People had a lot of funny notions about what homosexual were in 1973, thinking that they were psychologically messed up deviants like Norman Bates.

Of course, in 1973, a majority of Americans thought Nixon was sane...

Gay is one of the ultimate right wing pejoratives just as 'liberal' is another one. Calling his enemies gay or liberal is simply playing to his base. Certainly, gay is not a negative to me and I absolutely see nothing wrong with being liberal. To the right wing, gay and liberal, ivory-tower intellectual, socialist, communist, etc. are all synonymous with being Communist. I seriously doubt though that very many on the right really understand what any of those terms mean. On the other hand, right-wingers seem to believe real, patriotic, true-blue, loyal, God-fearing Americans are NASCAR fans and bigoted, gun toting, trigger-happy Texas rednecks.

He is simply bating the right-wing fundies. He associates the guards being evil and by the way, homosexual who did bad things like beating our POWs and evidently being homosexual, one must enjoy beating others and therefore, enjoyed beating our POWs. Does it sound like he's trying to put us gays in a bad light? Is he trying to tie gays, liberals, progressives into one column and the true POW patriots, republicans, flag wavers, flag pin wearers, War lovers into another?

This is totally ridiculous. Hard-line communism, circa 1960s, and '70s, hated homosexuality. Government guards and officials would've been condemned. Gayness was considered completely politically incorrect, corrupt, a Western influence, etc. etc., which is what makes the past and current 'Free World' fear-mongering towards 'homosexual, junkie communists' so ironic. Commies inflicted their own particular pains and tortures on gays. McSame and his colleagues are adding more embellishments to a story - the prisoner story - that is one that should fade into the background, since that story has absolutely no positive bearing on what needs to be done/negotiated/ etc. now about what's happening in the world. What? Just before you were behind bars for five years means you should rule the world?

I don't know about Vietnamese culture but I do know about Chinese culture (studied it and Chinese for decades); Chinese men hold hands and are often rather physical with each other in public. I've seen PLA soldiers in uniform walking down streets in Beijing hand in hand. I knew this was just a culture thing, but an idiot like McCain might assume that all straight men act the way he does and any variation on that means they are gay. Just opining.

I, for one, am deeply disturbed by the absence of concern for McCain's mental stability after having gone through such a horrific nightmare. My Grandfather spent almost a year in a German prison after being shot down. He was treated pretty well, compared to others, because he was an officer. Still, that experience shaped who he was for the rest of his life - it DEFINED him.

But McCain, we're supposed to just call him a hero and never mention the details or ask any uncomfortable questions forever? Seems he would feel alot like these students who are shunned and picked on and then they go on a shooting rampage to get back at the mean people. What happens to President McCain when he realizes he has all the power he needs to wreak havoc?
