AMERICAblog: Keith Olbermann's "Special Comment" about Hillary Clinton invoking Bobby Kennedy's assassination

HILLARY MUST GO! I can only echo the fine comments of others in this thread. I don't think we have ever heard Keith Olbermann so angry in a Special Comment. Yet, still he was more generous than I can be. In that long litany of gaffes for which he is willing to forgive Hillary, I am totally unwilling and unable to forgive her. I am even now waiting to hear that Dean and Reid and Pelosi and/or the superdelagates are moving to expunge her name from the race and that by morning she will be gone as the albatross slowing down the primary, gone from the Senate. By her own words and actions increasingly, she has proven herself totally unfit to be considered as POTUS or VPOTUS or any other position in government. HILLARY MUST GO--- IMMEDIATELY IF NOT SOONER and for good measure she should take Bill with her. And all this time we thought McCain was the only crazy one.
lov446
MIKKI: you are so right. Clinton knew full well what she said and why she was saying it. Once again she was counting on the ignorance of everyone to let it pass, but the reason she said it was obvious. She said it, because she wanted to get out the idea of an assassination so some crazy might just do it, and therefore she would get the nomination, by default. She knew she might receive some flack, but in her wicked mind, that is ok, because if it helps get her back in the White House, it will be worth it. She also knows, that people forget so easily, it won't become a real problem. She did it on purpose and for that very reason. Her wickedness is beyond belief, and I use to support her and Bill. Boy, was I taken for a fool!!

No more excuses. No more tip-toeing around her because she's a woman and we might offend her precious supporters. Fuck her. She's finished. Done. No vice presidency. No supreme court. No more senate seat. No prime time speech at the convention. No help with her debts. She deserves NOTHING. To hell with her and anyone stupid enough to still be supporting her.

It's amazing how what began as just a feeling many months ago has finally completely shown itself.
I began as a Clinton supporter, but was never convinced until Obama convinced me of his own candidacy. Now, finally there is no question about where Hillary's heart is.
I remember feeling similarly when Bush was so dismissive of the Hurricane Katrina victims. I'd seen all along what he was really about, but he'd never done anything to completely out himself to the rest of the world. After that, no one ever argued with me about Bush. It's such a shame that such a tragedy had to happen for people to really see him.
This is Hillary's Katrina. I hope she hasn't done too much damage before people have really seen her.

In the end, the thing that has and continue to do in Hillary Clinton is Hillary Clinton. Try as she will the biggest reason she has squandered a candidacy with probably more natural and earned advantages than any other candidate in history rests squarely on her shoulders. Her words, her actions, her management (or lack thereof) has taken a candidate who has as her spokesperson a beloved ex-POTUS, the backing of the majority of most of the party elite (at one point), name recognition that few walking the planet could match, and war-chest at one time overflowing with money. For all of these advantages, her inability to beat a junior senator who a year ago no one thought had a chance of winning will go down in history as one of the biggest examples of what arrogance and inflexibility can do.
R.I.P Senator Clinton. I wish you no ill-will but sincerely hope you can no longer be elected dog catcher.

i have to say that keith makes great, great, great special comments. this comment is the best and most honest i have heard this evening. the others can spin the words of hillary any way they want but this special comment goes to the point that she will do anything to win the presidency. she is a very troubling women. what a sad day for this country, the dems and her family. this is also another reason to get away from "politics as usual" and a need for "change". yes we can. term limits are a great argument here.

I didn't jump on the hope train, and if it's ok with you I'll stay off. Can you tell me one thing that Odrama is going to do to change the way Washington is run? His message of hope? Hopefully these republicans will work with me, because I speak well and I am black, and if they don't my press slobs will call them racist? He can't even unify his own party and you think he will unify the country. Good luck with that, and watch and see how your Hope train turns into the "Silverbullet" (FYI, Silverbullet is a movie, not any assassination reference Keith!)

In addition to clearly demonstrating that she is a conniving ruthless C, Clinton's comment also demonstrates she is a political hack and completely unworthy of any position near imprtant politically. She is a behind the scenes operator. She, without her husband, lacks the political skills to be elected to anything more than a State rep from Arkansas. She had the NY Sentor position handed to her and does not deserve her current position. She should go back to serving her corrupt and rich masters at the Rose law firm for her political career is now and foreever over.

I wish I could be so optimistic about Hillary being out by the end of the holiday weekend, but she has this keen ability to plug her ears with her fingers and trudge onward as if this race is in a dead heat.
She will only suspend her candidacy IF superdelegates tell her that it's time to do so. Otherwise, expect her to be on a plane to Puerto Rico sometime in the near future.

ZennButtKicker (tlhwraith)

RF isn't the issue. She knows that by apologizing to the Kennedys she puts the emphasis on "I didn't mean to belittle his death" instead of the real issue which is that she shouldn't have implied that assasination was a reasonable path for her to get the nomination. RFK Jr is concerned about his fathers legacy, as he should be, but I daresay that talking to the King family may give you a very different take on what her statement means.
mmedefarge

I think that Hillary has always thus far in her life been able to buy or bamboozle anything she wanted (with the exception of a husband whose behavior was egregiously beyond her control). So her increasingly desperate behavior, starting after March 4th and getting more and more outrageous by the day, reflects her inability to understand why she is not getting what she wants, when she wants it.
Even more disturbing to me is that there are still people who say they support her, citing the gender card, but really we know it is very thinly veiled racism. And the lack of any Democratic Party leadership calling her to task for her behavior--on anything from her remarks today to another item in Keith's litany---is also very troubling.
Barb_in_DC
One of the troubling things about this, for me, is that she doesn't acknowledge the difference in the nominating process in 1968 and later. There were very few primaries or caucuses in those days and she knows it.
The thing that she can't change or even recognize is that Obama's campaign is the closest we have come in 40 years to even come close to replicating Bobby Kennedy's remarkable campaign, which lasted a mere 85 days. Those vast crowds and the wild enthusiasm.
She could never in a million years approximate that and she seems determined to bring down Obama because he can.
I say, as a woman near her age, PHOOEY!

a little over melodramatic but still good
what Olbermann, AmericaBlog, DailyKos et al should try is tell Clinton she's done and that they just plain won't cover her any longer, that the nomination process is over and she lost
and then don't write/talk about her any more - enter full tilt general election mode and stick to McCain and Obama

A lot of people just want Hillary out of the race, and there are people who will be willing to get worked up about something because they feel it will get her out. I'm not saying that this is true of everyone who has been offended by her remarks, but a large percentage of people fall into that category. Great spanking from Keith. Too bad she won't feel it.
Her 'explanation / "apology," that she mentioned assassination because the Kennedy family as been so much on her mind, (Because she likes them presumably, not because Ted just endorsed Obama...,) ((as if the Kennedy's really need any reminding, or appreciate the references, Good God,)) is so LUDICROUS and unfunny it reminded me immediately of one of the funniest sketches ever, from Fawlty Towers:
Dammit, just wanted to see Keith's video, but for some reason, A-blog won't load up here in China. Was able to get through and find the video on MSNBC.com directly. sigh...

Oh my God!!!! I can't believe Hillary said that...multiple times. This is the first I've heard of it. What is she thinking?! Never mind, she's not thinking...
How can she say something like that...for all the reasons Keith Olbermann gave. And she doesn't even apologize to Obama?
LeslieB
Her comments are shocking.... She has to end her campaign. If she won't, then it's up to the supers to end this NOW. It's unconscionable that she's refusing to end her campaign because the likely Dem nominee may be assassinated. It comes so close to wishful thinking on her part. And there's been absolutely no need for her to invoke the assassination at all, at any time. How could she insult Ted Kennedy that way. It's mind-boggling.
She needs to stop right now. I can't vote for her...if by some fluke she should become the nominee, I can't vote for her. I can't vote for McSame and can't vote for her.
I don't even want her as my NY Senator anymore.

Thank you Kieth so much for the truth about Hillary Clinton. The fact is you dont make comments like that unless you really mean them. And she meant them, every words. Somewhere setting in the back of her mind, she has been hoping every since Iowa that Obama would be killed. But for Clinton to make these comments on more than one occassion, she has been feeling this for a while now. But this last time she made the comment, it leave one to wonder if she was giving us the American People a warning that Obama would be assassinated. It leave one to wonder if in fact she has put a hit out on him, that may take place in October, which she alluded to in one of her comment she made that we would all know in October, which left most of us wondering what dose she have on Obama that she is going to give up in October. I can only say that Hillary Clinton has run the worst campaign in the history of politics in this country, but she will not take responsibility for it, she blames Mark Penn. Clinton want to blame the media, and everyone else for her failures eveyone but the person she looks at in the mirrow everyday. I will say if anything happen to Obama, Hillary Clinton should be looked at very strongly. She reminds me the mom in texas that killed the cheerleader so her daughter wouldn't have any compitition. I personally still believe she did have something to do with Vince Foster's death, and the nine suspecious deaths of the people who died before it was time for them to testify to the Grand Jury durning the Whitewater Trial, or the fifthteen people who fled the country before it was time for them to testify in the Whitewater Trial And another thing, these Clinton supporters really need to get the fact on Hillary Clinton. However it is clear that the Clintons supporters are consistance in believing a lie before beliving the truth, I say to them keep listening to that lier, maybe one day you will learn to read. Fact: I put nothing pass Hillary Clinton

Hillary has shown time and time again that her judgment is poor, i.e., her mismanaged campaign, her mismanaged husband, her mismanaged staff, her miscalculations, her misspeaks continually ………….
Let go and let the party come together as a united front. The forces that have driven this country apart for the past eight years must be stopped & swept from the White House ... it's time to step down and encourage your supporters to support the Democratic party. We NEED to win the Whitehouse back. Our country can't take another 4 years of Bush which is what we'll get with McSame.

The woman has TOTALLY lost it!
This is unbelievable. Makes the sniper affair sound like a sane person by comparison.
Every remaining superdelegate should immediately drop any pretense. She no longer deserves any respect from them or the party.
It's over for Hillary. Should be completely over. The people of New York should toss her out of the Senate.
I started this campaign season excited about Hillary for President. I believed her and bill over the years. Gradually I have become repelled and disgusted by the two of them. Increasingly, I have come to believe that much of what has been said about them (and her especially) over the years is not "a right wing plot" but largely true. What disgusts me is that I let my need to believe in someone overtake any semblance of good sense.

I have been a supporter of Hillary Clinton for quite while and have forgiven her many times for her foot in mouh comments. This latest comment has totally disgusted me. It appears that she is just rambling on and on saying anything just for the sake of staying in the public eye. She alluded to the fact that she is staying in the race in case there is an assination. To all those Hillary defenders: she's just added to the buzz that's out there. Huckabee, and the press have made inferences to the "a" word and it's no accident when she mentioned Bobby Kennedy. Bobby Kennedy could not fulfill his candidacy because he was shot-DEAD! No amount of back-pedaling can change that. And as far as no eye contact during her apology....I'm no psychiatrist, but a classic "tell" of a liar is someone that can't look you in the eye.

Hillary's RFK comment is part of an attempted con - she has been conflating the legacies of her husband and RFK by repeating their names, California, and June so many times that it feels like the Bush/Cheney attempt to link Saddam and 9/11. She will not apologize, since what she is doing is trying to diminish the connection others have drawn between RFK and Obama's inspiring candidacies. Unless she is called on the con, she will continue to defend it as merely "facts". She is diabolically clever.

Mr. Olbermann said it so well. The hairs on my neck stood up! He said what I felt so eloquently. I have never been so interested in the political process until now. I attended my first caucus this year! I watch CNN almost every day now. I would have voted for either Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton, but not any more. If Obama is not running for president, I will vote for McCain or not at all. Hillary has gone too damn far! I am a 45 yr old African American woman. Right on Keith! As a hard working 56 year old white boy living in Georgia, I can say that I will NEVER vote for HRC for anything. My first choice for president was Joe Biden. Once he graciously got out of the race, and after careful consideration, I decided to support Senator Obama. The very first time I got involved in politics was at the ripe old age of 16. I had one of those old time metal "Kennedy" pinbacks on the lapel of my suitcoat (yes, I went to an all boy Catholic High School) the morning I woke up to the terrible news that RFK was shot and probably would not live. I cried as I took the pin from my lapel. I have never been the same until this year. I am one of those who has a terrible fear of history repeating itself. I don't need to be reminded of the California primary in '68... Hillary Clinton has vastly underestimated the raw nerve she struck by her comment about RFK. I lived through that once and pray I will never have to live through something like that again. Olberman is correct, this IS "unforgiveable." Clinton has overstayed her "ten minutes of fame" and is showing a very dark, desperate side of her personality. If she really, truly loves her country and the Democratic Party, she needs to step down NOW. I no longer care about giving her an opportunity for a graceful exit. She no longer deserves that.

In response to your comment – I too remember Robert F. Kennedy and I am also in my 50’s, I too saw and experienced sadness of a life cut short too soon, the thousands of people waving goodbye when the funeral train passed by cities and towns. But I also see Bobby Kennedy’s legacy in all of us, not just Obama but for all Americans especially me, my brothers and sister who are all now in public service. I hate war and violence especially the riots of 68, it gives no excuse to smash and steel from hard working business owners who try accomplishing the American Dream. The tear gas, the fires and the curfews, I know, I lived it, and it gives no excuse for that kind of violence and destruction.
When Obama decided to run in the Democratic race, I too thought that he would be a good choice. When the news came out about where he gets his spiritual guidance from and the church where he attended, it made me cringe. The Black liberation theology that he was taught, and the comment s of his Pastor his mentor Rev. Wright preaching “GOD DAMN AMERICA” The company he keeps, the lack of judgment says it all! If Obama really felt for America, why did he stay in this church that practices hate and bigotry for 20 years? I thought we were all rid of this and we all got along!
Why did he and his family stay in this church that used the tragedy of 911, 6 days after it happened, as a joke? When 9-11 happened, it impacted the very core of me and of all Americans. The countless of families that still grieve for their loss. Yet Obama stayed in this church that practices hate and played the race card for 20 years. Obama does not deserve to be President this just brings it all back again!

I would like to say to all Clinton Supporters, dont beat yourself up. Now you are seeing the REAL HILLARY ClINTON. Just do your research about both the Clinton, then you will see, people are not making this stuff up about Hillary. You have seen the real Hillary for the last year. A Notorious Lier, or maybe even much worse. Hillary has been feeling this way since the Iowa Caususes, when she came in 3rs place. Hillary & Bill Clinton really went into this race, believing that no one would vote for a black man. They have played the race card, they have blamed Mark Penn for a failed campaign, she has blamed the media for her failures, she has changed the rules I dont know how many times, to make things go in her favor. The bottom line is her comment about staying in this race because she believes Obama will be assassinated is beyong the most flawed person on earth. ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE OUTRAGED!!! To all you people out there, feeling as if Hillary's comment is being used to force Hillary out of the race. No please understand there is only one way to take Hillary's comments which she has made several time. And that is she need to stay in this race incase Barack Obama is assassinated. People Hilllary said this no one else. Honestly after hearinng Hillary make the same comments back in March, again in April and now again in May, one can say the media gave her a pass for making these comments before. Which made me questioned why isn't the medica talking about this, but now I'm very happy the media is reporting this, so people can see the real Hilllary Clinton. Now it's time for the Superdelegates to get off their asses and end this thing. Hillary Clinton is not Presidential Material. I mean anyone with a half of brain, all they have to do is look at how she ran her campaign, which was the worse campaign in the history of american politices. Get over it Hillary supporters, we all make mistakes. But in Hillary's case way to many.

Keith-Switch to decaf. How can you infer that she was sticking around in case he gets shot with her statement? She didn't just refer to RFK, she also referred to WJClinton, who got the nomination in June, and like it or not, your guy, BHO, he won't rap up the nomination until June at the earliest, so why should she leave this race? So your guy can get the nomination? She and millions of others don't believe he is the right person for the job, there is nothing wrong with that . Your obvious bias favoring Obama has allowed you national air time to twist whatever is said by anyone in the Clinton camp into what you want people to think they said. Hillary Clinton is not hoping for Obama to get shot and for you to mislead people into thinking that is what she meant is outrageous. I am so turned off by the media bias against Clinton in this campaign that I am never going to vote for Obama. I don't think he is change, he is a mess waiting to happen.

I so agree jus111. I am completely fed up with the golden carpet treatment BHO is receiving and these utterly insane attacks on Hillary's integrity. To construe her remarks about RFK as bringing up some sort of spectre of death or it being insulting or in any way negative is just...insane. Friday night, Kennedy's son, Robert Kennedy, Jr., released a statement that said he understands the point Clinton was making and said it would be a mistake to be offended. . "I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard-fought through June," he said. "I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense." Understand this now, really understand it and understand what a terrible mistake you make when you hurl accusations so freely and wildly. It is the media that makes a frenzy of nothing. Slow news day? For myself, I can't believe the way the media goes negative and I mean negative on any little comment that Hillary makes. It's as if they are sprung like snakes. I pray they shut up now about her staying in the race. Half of the Democrats out here want her to be the nominee and are thinking hard about voting Libertarian if she loses. Some may vote Republican! Thanks for your sage advise media circus.....not. The media circus must be too young to remember the elections that DID go to the convention. Incredibly exciting and passionate. It's as if the media wusses can't cope with some good old fashioned conventions, warts and all? To say that Hillary staying in will damage the party is nutz. It's rather well known that the call for Hillary to quit, is coming from the Obama camp and his sycophants, and their little miss echoes. I lived in L.A., June of '68. It was one of the most traumatizing times in my life. Another Kennedy was ripped away from us in a most devastating way. I'll never forget it. I will always remember it was a hot June. I'm glad Hillary brought it up, however. She is right. primaries went into June, not unusual. Anyone who went through that time knows she didn't bring it up for any other reason than to show how campaigns went on into June. So actually, Hillary was right and the Kennedy family are well aware of the reason she brought it up. Like the Kennedys, I like to think about RFK and remember him. Such a brilliant man. I know that Hillary and I have deep respect and admiration for RFK and a good deal of his family who are dedicated to and fight for the "people." Like Hillary has done and will do. Just watch. What has BHO done.....I'm not finding a heck of a lot to build any solid support for him. Please direct me to his accomplishments for "the people" I'm having a hard time finding something HE has done or brought about himself and didn't just sort of sign on, one that has succeeded, which is what he would have us believe. Where are all wonderful things he has done? I want to see his plans...where are they? Not on his website, like Hillary's. Just so much rhetoric about change. Give me a break. I'd love to find the beef, but it isn't there. I find hypocracy the most offending, especially in politicians. I find too much hypocracy in the Obama camp. New? No, same old mudslinging politician. Very clever at it. This latest "demanding an apology about RFK." Ridiculous!! A prime example of BHO's scud missle tactics. Hit low and hard. It's like his attacks on Lou Dobbs. Inacurate as hell, but just attack away Obama. I feel it's Obama that will split the party, if anyone. The media is once again missing the boat. Sadly. Remember how hard the media were on Gore for being stiff? He wasn't at all. He is brilliant, but you guys get your jaws set and never let go, convincing the weak minded that there was "something wrong" with Gore. Boy, wrong again. The media was the real culprit and who really backed Bush and his rush to war with Afghanistan and Iraq. You had us all believing there was yellow cake uranium. Where was the investigative reporting then? Why weren't you picking apart everything our idiot president was doing then? I'm not listening....I'm not listening anymore. You aren't journalists, you are gossip columnists who think you are in control. As nasty and thoughtless as any gossip rag columnists. You should be ashamed. It's exhausting and annoying. I'm watching BBC from here on out, thanks very much.

Hillary Clinton should not apologize for the remark she said of Robert F. Kennedy. He was the senator of New York in 1968; she holds the same senate seat that Bobby Kennedy held.
It will be the 40th anniversary of Robert F. Kennedy assassination on June 6th. With all the hype of Ted Kennedy and his brain tumor and the tragedies concerning the Kennedy family, it is on a lot of people’s minds, especially the baby boomers of the 1940’s, 50’s, who saw and lived the tumultuous 60’s era like myself.
It is only fair that we also remember Bobby Kennedy, a young life cut short by a senseless act. No one should apologize for at least remembering Bobby Kennedy and for what he stood for.
On CNN there was a special news segment on the 40th anniversary of the Martin Luther King assassination. It was televised for a whole month, Hillary Clinton and John McCain was present at the memorial service given for Martin Luther King. Obama was not present; I guess he had better things to do than to be there.
I only hope that CNN will give the same courtesy to the memory of Robert F. Kennedy -
Quote of Robert F. Kennedy:
Voice of the People
“All great questions must be raised by great voices of the people - Speaking out - in prose, or painting or poetry or music; speaking out - In homes and halls, streets and farms, courts and cafes - let that Voice speak and the stillness your heart will be the gratitude of Mankind”.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a supporter of Hillary Clinton.
The blubbering self-rightous Keith Olbermann and his thrill up his leg friend Chris slobbering Matthews deserve one another they can paste their "special comment" where the sun doesn't shine!
Fight on Hillary!

This is not the first time I have read, verbatum, this line of thinking. You bring up McCain being in Memphis. You claim you lived through the tumultous '60's. Then you should also know that there was a real big split in this country over Viet Nam. There is no way in hell I will believe that McCain was saddened when he heard of MLK's assasination. As far as I am concerned, McCain was a hypocrit to show up in Memphis. Yet, you take a cheap shot at Obama for not being there...You just don't get it.

I too remember Robert F. Kennedy and I am also in my 50’s, I too saw and experienced sadness of a life cut short too soon, the thousands of people waving goodbye as the funeral train passed by cities and towns. But I also see Bobby Kennedy’s legacy in all of us, not just Obama but for all Americans especially me, my brothers and sister who are now all in public service. I hate war and violence especially the riots of 68, it gives no excuse to smash and steal from hard working business owners who try accomplishing the American Dream. The tear gas, the fires and the curfews, I know, I lived it, and it gives no excuse for that kind of violence hatred and destruction.
The countless of families that are still grieving for their loss.
Yet Obama stayed in this church that practices hate and played the race card for 20 years. If he is going to represent me and this great country and be in public service, he had no right to be in this church, period! He is fair game! If Hillary does not get the nomination, I and my family will be voting for John McCain, and I don't care who likes it or not! Obama does not deserve to be President! Fight on Hillary!

Good Grief, Keith! You're not really, not REALLY, comparing Barack Obama with Robert Kennedy; are you - or Abraham Lincoln or MLK? That's too silly to contemplate.
This is the worst adhominem attack and scurrilous piece of "journalism" I've read in a long time, and it pains me that it comes form my end of the political spectrum. I notice you include the "Not for a moment does any rational person believe Senator Clinton is actually **hoping** for the worst of all political calamities" proviso to prevent your being sued for libel, but that is exactly what you're suggesting.
Take out the qualifier and take the consequences of misguidedly spreading fear and hatred. As a member of the media using public airwaves to spout your hyperbolies into the ears of the American people, at least you should do so without CYA.
Seems to me I read a quote from you somewhere to the effect that "we need a man to take her into the back room where only he will come out." Misogyny and objectivity do not mix. 'Nuff said.

lady liberty you like so many Hillary supporters search and search to find nothing on Obama and the fact that he stayed in a chruch for twenty years is the only thing you can come up with. Like millions of americans we didn't run away from our church when we didn't agree with our pastor. But if you really want to report anything about Rev Wright, you should do your research and get the fact about the man. Its very clear you didn't listen to the entire sermon. But more importantly God said hate the sin not the sinner. So if you would take time to research Mr Obama and Pastor Wright records, maybe you can then report fact, not just snippit you get from the news. I am 56 years old and lived the sixties as well.

For all you readers out there the first time the Kennedy torch has ever been passed, It was passed to Barack Obama. By Ted Kenney's own words, he felt that Barack Obama have the same fire in his belly, just as his brother President John F. Kennedy did to bring about change in this country. That Barack had the ability to bring young & old people, together, Black, White, Red, Yellow all races together in unity. This is why Ted Kennedy and the Kennedy family passed that torch to Barack. And by God I think he was right.

jus111, hate to disappoint you but it dosen't anyone with a half a brain to know exactly what Clinton. The only conclusion you can draw from Clinton's comments is that she is staying in this race, incase Obama is assassinated. You and everyone else in this country should be outraged.

I am outraged that the media spews outright lies and you and the quarter of your brain believe it. "hate to disappoint you but it dosen't anyone with a half a brain to know exactly what Clinton." Can you explain your point? The truth is, everyone in this country should be outraged, outraged over the coverage of the campaign, outraged that a press is having a love affair with a candidate instead of investigating him and letting us know what is behind him and who has influenced him, including Michelle Obama, Rev. Wright, William Ayers and Tony Rezko. Instead of drinking the kool-aid, the press should have let us know about the Wrights, Ayers and Rezko, but they didn't want to, they didn't want to hurt his chances. McCain will wind up winning this thing in the end, the golden boy will be found to have tarnish, and all of us half brainers will watch, sickened, as we wind up stuck with either of them. By the way, if you really believe that she was implying that she is staying in the race in case he is assassinated, I am thankful you are an Obama supporter. Proves to me who is drinking the kool aid and that where I stand is an honorable place to be. Good luck with that.

tbhull, you are so right. If people will take the time and research Hillary Clinton and the Rose Law Firm, and look at the Whitewater Trial, as well as read the indictments surrounding the Whitewater Trial, then they would see the REAL Clintons. You know the media even gave her a pass on the Paul vs Clinton Trial in LA on April 25, 2008. I would like to know how she Bill, Ed Rendell weavseled out of that one. Since we heard hardly anything from the media, maybe it was settled out of court.

Anyone with half a brain would realize that Hillary Clinton would not intentionally say anything that implied she was waiting for someone to assassinate her opponent and clear the way for her. My first thought when I heard her remark was that the event of the RFK assassination was a benchmark in time which jogs the memory of other things going on at the same time, the same way I can remember that I was in the 2nd grade when JFK was assassinated. I have always revered the Kennedys for their public service in spite of all the tragedies they have endured, and I would never wish for any further trauma to be visited upon them. But I would imagine they are not unused to hearing references to their family, as that is after all, part of putting your life in the public eye. I would submit that it is Mr. Olberman and the Obama camp that have invoked that viscious meaning by taking Clinton's remarks out of context in order to manipulate the public's opinion of her. The Obama campaign is the most racially divisive thing to happen to American politics in a long time, and I think that is due in large part to the Obama camp's willingness to utilize the racial issue. Mr. Obama is in the perfect position to take the lead in defusing the power of racism in this country by not infusing racist meanings into words where none is intended and distancing himself from those who do. This political game of taking your opponent's words out of context and subverting their meaning is not the road to racial equality or understanding. It is also not the road to re-uniting the Democratic Party in order to win the election. It is a shame Mr. Olberman does not see it that way.

Keith: You put emotion right where it needs to be, I was impressed!
She is lost it, the campaign has gotten to her. This reveals her dark thoughts and maybe even hopes.
Can she be prosecuted for insiting the possible assassination of Obama. If anything should happen to him by some nut who listed to Hillary and thought that this was some coded message to go after Obama, she would be just as responsible as the person doing the deed!
This is just as Keith put it a shame on American politics and black spot on this countries proud political heritage of freedom and democracy.
She is a brillant person and knows what she is doing. She was becoming irrelevant and needed to be brought back into the spot light, but this was to far. She needs to step out now or the DNC needs to step in and end this NOW! The Dems will not win if the healing process doesn't begin TODAY!

Power corrupts...absolute power corrupts absolutely. Lord Acton "Politics...the art of the possible." Atomized by television and the web, we are magnetized by emotion, not reason. I've yet to hear rational possibilities discussed by ANY candidate of either party. Only mind-numbing platitudes, veiled references to shadow positions but nothing of substance. By this time in campaigns that pre-dated the emergence of the hysterical (Johnson evokes nuclear war against Goldwater in 1968 TV ad) there was still a semblance of restraint. That, plus Nixon's re-emergence from (well-deserved) obscurity put an end to the political forum as we had known it for the decades when literacy, not demagogic manipulation, mattered. Olbermann's as close as we can get to the true nature of the Fourth Estate...the way is used to be. More like H.L. Mencken than anyone else moving their lips on TV for sponsors unknown to us. But, Mr. Olbermannn, fellow Cornellian, I must exhort you, in the spirit of Hugh Troy, as well as the long line of truth-tellers who have looked at the world from high above the waters...GET SOME!! We need to hear more about the connection between corrupt politics and corrupt politicians. What exactly was it that made the Kennedys so wonderful? Weren't they self-annointed Irish pols from Boston whose FATHER when at the Court of St. James (Ambassador to England) was happy to let well enough alone and step away from the desperate struggle to save freedom that was going on at that time? Remember? It was called the Battle of Britain? World War II? WE need to put things in...perspective. Money is power. Power corrupts. An awful lot of money...in the Congress and Senate and White House and God knows where else, means an awful lot of corruption. What else is new? Rome redux? The hubris of Athens? Or isn't it time we remembered our own history? We've been here before. This is the same paradigm as existed in the late 1890's, when we were forced to shift from coal to oil. No we need to shift again. I say, vote for someone with a RATIONAL PROGRAM for re-industrializing the United States, not the support of the status quo ante, no matter what party they represent. As a matter of fact, we need at least two NEW PARTIES. (neither of which is tied to vested, self-interested affiniity groups). We need new forums at the local, state and national levels. The PEOPLE need to really participate again. With this, we are done.) Parties that support the U.S. CONSTUTION as well as the AMERICAN PEOPLE...but please, no "NATIONAL PARTY." Meaning, of course, let's not lose ourselves in the crypto-fascist statism of pure iconography...flag-waving hysteria, rallies, etc. That's all that Bush II has been, one long, stupid reference to WWII. But nothing disquiets one more than the emergence of posters of a certain candidate that begin to recall the very Orwellian thirties. Lux et veritas.

This has been Obama's belief system for 20 years. 2 books writen with his mentor Rev. Wright. A nightmare to happen if you vote this clown in. Oprah was in this church and she got out, she did not stay for 20 years, but Obama did! His belief system does not include my race, my culture, nor my homeland of America neither my Catholic upbringing I don't care what race you are - If you are going to be the President of the United States of America you need to represent all of us - Why did he stay for 20 years?
We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.
The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:
A congregation committed to ADORATION. A congregation preaching SALVATION. A congregation actively seeking RECONCILIATION. A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA. A congregation committed to BIBLICAL EDUCATION. A congregation committed to CULTURAL EDUCATION. A congregation committed to the HISTORICAL EDUCATION OF AFRICAN PEOPLE IN DIASPORA. A congregation committed to LIBERATION. A congregation committed to RESTORATION. A congregation working towards ECONOMIC PARITY.

You are right on in your diatribes vs Bush&co., appreciation noted. Obama can't get elected for hundreds of solid reasons. He was created by the financial backing of a guy nose deep in the sewer that is Chicago politics, there is a ton of material the GOP is busy compiling to destroy his candidacy, I have read much of it. It is a deal killer. Unfit and/or unready, now compare THAT to Hillary Clinton and the fact that the majority of her party WANTS her, not Obama. I will not vote for him. I will go to Cynthia McKinney, even Bob Barr is a viable choice. Perhaps the Lib party will replace the GOP, cause they are going down! When the best they can do is Insane McCain, gawd help us all! How can Olberman trash Hillary for stating facts? We all loved Robert Kennedy his murder was an American tragedy. Trashing Hillary for her comments is also a tragedy twisted by WAR PROFITEERS GE and MSNBC. How quickly many have forgotten the quality of life enjoyed during the Clinton administration. Look how quickly the surplus was squandered. The needs of the people during the Clinton years were met. Hurricane victims did not wait years for results funds and repair were immediate. The world was not laughing at us we had respect and PEACE. These memories are replaced by HYPE manufactured to promote Obama mania. Noticeably absent is a long over due ‘SPECIAL COMMENT’ on Obama and his connection to Rezko. How could Obama ignore the horrible living conditions of tenants living in subsidized rundown buildings owned by Rezko in his district not far from the Obama mansion? Where is the cry for Obama to drop out? How can he run for president when he claims there are 57 states? Why another bungled statement glossed over by MSM? My 7-year-old grandchild knows there are 50 states. Where is his experience? Where is Obama’s substance and depth? He won a Senate seat by beating Alan Keyes! What a victory! Obama wants to ignore the votes of nearly two million Florida voters. Do we want a First Lady only interested in promoting black interests? See Michelle laVaughn Robinson Obama’s Princeton Thesis! I will vote for Hillary Clinton, Nader, or McKinney. The Democratic Party has left me with this insane promotion of Obama. Do we really want another republican appointing Supreme Court Justices? You know Karl Rove is making plans. Wedpeople must WAKE UP! Wedapeople must be allowed to speak! I have not just stopped watching Olberman I have canceled my cable and all propaganda.

Thank God for Keith Olbermann. He is the only one with enough sense and guts to come right out and speak the truth in a country that "Can't Handle the Truth". I only worry for his safety. There are PLENTY of crazies out there who would like to put an end to his honest, factual and emotional comments. I say, keep going Keith. You are the BEST. Here is an idea for the 2012 election: Olbermann for president/ Rachael Maddow for v.p. They would have my vote, but don't believe this country is ready for that much intellectualism all at once. I dunno. This whole issue brings up everything I hate about the new Blog-Media. What she said, taken out of context, was pretty thoughtless and harsh. Still, I understand the point she was trying to make. I think that a lot of people are jumping on this as a means to try and get her out of the race -- as opposd to actually being offended by the fact that she mentioned RFK's assassination. I don't think that many people are actually outraged about what she said. I'd like to see her out of the race, too, but it also bothers me to think that the only reason people are 'outraged' is in order to accomplish a political means. Are we all Republicans now?
tbhull

No we are correctly outraged and we want her out of the race. Not only is she fully defeated by Barack, but she is not fit to be preisdident by virtue of these comments. The fact that she is not fit to serve is not determined based upon whether one is a repub or dem, it is whether one is a rational American.

You just don't get it. Even if she didn't mean what she implied, the mere utterance of the words is reason enough to villify her. To add salt to the wound, her "apology" was half-assed and clearly wasn't directed at all the parties affected (like the guy who would be the dead martyr in her insinuation, Obama).
So, spare us the hyperbole. In reality, some of the anger you are seeing is probably the result of months of people giving her "the benefit of the doubt" and she taking advantage of that liberty like a houseguest that has stayed too long. It's time to stop being polite and start showing Senator Clinton the door, pushing from behind if she doesn't walk in that general direction on her own.
The biggest problem isn't that we are acting like Republicans, feigning outrage to curry political leverage, it is that we have been acting too much like "nice people". The Clintons have done things that other candidates would have been culled for long ago, but somehow because they are "The Clintons" they should be given yet another suspension-of-disbelieft card.
No more.

First of all, you know as well as I do that many people will jump on anything Hillary says for political advantage. I also did not mean to imply that everyone who is reacting to her statement is only outraged to accomplish a political means, I am commenting on how there are people who are looking for any possible reason to torpedo HIllary so she'll get out of the race. It's not a stretch to say that many people are more excited about knocking her out of the race than they are outraged at her remarks.
That bothers me, although I am sorry if it seems as though I was attacking everyone who is outraged." After rereading m y post, I can understand how it could be interpreted that way.

Maybe Clinton can go to where she can find like minded followers, where she is more appreciated and where she has a better chance at becoming pres, that is by being McCain's VP.
Bite me! You go to hell.
R.I.P Senator Clinton. I wish you no ill-will but sincerely hope you can no longer be elected dog catcher.
commentarty but I long for him to speak as clearly on the lack of movement from the Dems
I hope someone has the cojohnes to make Hillary watch this.
Robert Kennedy Jr.(Clinton Supporter) to the New York Times
Even more disturbing to me is that there are still people who say they support her, citing the gender card, but really we know it is very thinly veiled racism. And the lack of any Democratic Party leadership calling her to task for her behavior--on anything from her remarks today to another item in Keith's litany---is also very troubling.
Yes, I think she'd be a better fit as McCain's VP.
John gives her 3 days? She may yet attempt to rise again. Ugh. I rather hope not.
Let's have the election and get on with the reconstruction of Democracy in America.
what Olbermann, AmericaBlog, DailyKos et al should try is tell Clinton she's done and that they just plain won't cover her any longer, that the nomination process is over and she lost
and then don't write/talk about her any more - enter full tilt general election mode and stick to McCain and Obama
A lot of people just want Hillary out of the race, and there are people who will be willing to get worked up about something because they feel it will get her out. I'm not saying that this is true of everyone who has been offended by her remarks, but a large percentage of people fall into that category. Of everything that's wrong with Hillary Clinton, this isn't anywhere near the worst thing she's said or done.
What can you say about someone who is hanging around just in case the other candidate gets assassinated?
Her 'explanation / "apology," that she mentioned assassination because the Kennedy family as been so much on her mind, (Because she likes them presumably, not because Ted just endorsed Obama...,) ((as if the Kennedy's really need any reminding, or appreciate the references, Good God,)) is so LUDICROUS and unfunny it reminded me immediately of one of the funniest sketches ever, from Fawlty Towers:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=acCFpFgpEvk
Even so I don't think she has a head injury, isn't sorry, and is full of shit.
Hillary Clinton is informed of a possible terrorist attack at her redneck rally full of Hilldawgs.
Leave it to a bomb-sniffing pig to expose Hillary as the "snuke". ;-)

How can she say something like that...for all the reasons Keith Olbermann gave. And she doesn't even apologize to Obama?
She needs to stop right now. I can't vote for her...if by some fluke she should become the nominee, I can't vote for her. I can't vote for McSame and can't vote for her.
I don't even want her as my NY Senator anymore.
She has embarrassed not only herself, but the Democratic party as well.
She talks too much!
I can only say that Hillary Clinton has run the worst campaign in the history of politics in this country, but she will not take responsibility for it, she blames Mark Penn. Clinton want to blame the media, and everyone else for her failures
eveyone but the person she looks at in the mirrow everyday.
I will say if anything happen to Obama, Hillary Clinton should be looked at very strongly. She reminds me the mom in texas that killed the cheerleader so her daughter wouldn't have any compitition.
I personally still believe she did have something to do with Vince Foster's death, and the nine suspecious deaths of the people who died before it was time for them to testify to the Grand Jury durning the Whitewater Trial, or the fifthteen people who fled the country before it was time for them to testify in the Whitewater Trial
And another thing, these Clinton supporters really need to get the fact on Hillary Clinton. However it is clear that the Clintons supporters are consistance in believing a lie before beliving the truth, I say to them keep listening to that lier, maybe one day you will learn to read.
Fact: I put nothing pass Hillary Clinton
Let go and let the party come together as a united front. The forces that have driven this country apart for the past eight years must be stopped & swept from the White House ... it's time to step down and encourage your supporters to support the Democratic party. We NEED to win the Whitehouse back. Our country can't take another 4 years of Bush which is what we'll get with McSame.
When will this end. Enough already, Hillary. ENOUGH!!!!
He's just as fed up as a lot of us are.
This woman must step down now.
I am a 45 yr old African American woman. I was proud that a woman was running, but she has embarrassed my gender! She needs to go hide in a deep hole for a while. And please, please don't have her on the ticket for Vice President!
It is time for the SUPERDELEGATES SHOULD END THIS RACE NOW!!!
Hillary Clinton is not Presidential Material. I mean anyone with a half of brain, all they have to do is look at how she ran her campaign, which was the worse campaign in the history of american politices.
Get over it Hillary supporters, we all make mistakes. But in Hillary's case way to many.
Friday night, Kennedy's son, Robert Kennedy, Jr., released a statement that said he understands the point Clinton was making and said it would be a mistake to be offended. . "I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband's 1992 race, both of which were hard-fought through June," he said. "I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense."
Understand this now, really understand it and understand what a terrible mistake you make when you hurl accusations so freely and wildly.
Robert F. Kennedy. He was the senator of New York in 1968; she holds
the same senate seat that Bobby Kennedy held.
It will be the 40th anniversary of Robert F. Kennedy assassination on
June 6th. With all the hype of Ted Kennedy and his brain tumor and
the tragedies concerning the Kennedy family, it is on a lot of
people’s minds, especially the baby boomers of the 1940’s,
50’s, who saw and lived the tumultuous 60’s era like myself.
It is only fair that we also remember Bobby Kennedy, a young life cut
short by a senseless act. No one should apologize for at least
remembering Bobby Kennedy and for what he stood for.
On CNN there was a special news segment on the 40th anniversary of
the Martin Luther King assassination. It was televised for a whole
month, Hillary Clinton and John McCain was present at the memorial
service given for Martin Luther King. Obama was not present; I guess
he had better things to do than to be there.
I only hope that CNN will give the same courtesy to the memory of
Robert F. Kennedy -
Quote of Robert F. Kennedy:
Voice of the People
“All great questions must be raised by great voices of the people -
Speaking out - in prose, or painting or poetry or music; speaking out
- In homes and halls, streets and farms, courts and cafes - let that
Voice speak and the stillness your heart will be the gratitude of
Mankind”.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a supporter of Hillary Clinton.
The blubbering self-rightous Keith Olbermann and his thrill up his
leg friend Chris slobbering Matthews deserve one another they can
paste their "special comment" where the sun doesn't shine!
Fight on Hillary!

'Nuff said.
I hate war and violence especially the riots of 68, it gives no excuse to smash and steel from hard working business owners who try accomplishing the American Dream. The tear gas, the fires and the curfews, I know, I lived it, and it gives no excuse for that kind of violence hatred and destruction.
When Obama decided to run in the Democratic race, I too thought that he would be a good choice. When the news came out about where he gets his spiritual guidance from and the church where he attended, it made me cringe.

I am 56 years old and lived the sixties as well.
This is why Ted Kennedy and the Kennedy family passed that torch to Barack.
And by God I think he was right.
You know the media even gave her a pass on the Paul vs Clinton Trial in LA on April 25, 2008. I would like to know how she Bill, Ed Rendell weavseled out of that one. Since we heard hardly anything from the media, maybe it was settled out of court.
"Politics...the art of the possible." Atomized by television and the web, we are magnetized by emotion, not reason.
I've yet to hear rational possibilities discussed by ANY candidate of either party. Only mind-numbing platitudes,
veiled references to shadow positions but nothing of substance. By this time in campaigns that pre-dated the
emergence of the hysterical (Johnson evokes nuclear war against Goldwater in 1968 TV ad) there was still a
semblance of restraint. That, plus Nixon's re-emergence from (well-deserved) obscurity put an end to the political
forum as we had known it for the decades when literacy, not demagogic manipulation, mattered.
Olbermann's as close as we can get to the true nature of the Fourth Estate...the way is used to be. More like
H.L. Mencken than anyone else moving their lips on TV for sponsors unknown to us. But, Mr. Olbermannn,
fellow Cornellian, I must exhort you, in the spirit of Hugh Troy, as well as the long line of truth-tellers who have
looked at the world from high above the waters...GET SOME!!
We need to hear more about the connection between corrupt politics and corrupt politicians.
What exactly was it that made the Kennedys so wonderful? Weren't they self-annointed Irish pols from Boston
whose FATHER when at the Court of St. James (Ambassador to England) was happy to let well enough alone
and step away from the desperate struggle to save freedom that was going on at that time? Remember?
It was called the Battle of Britain? World War II? WE need to put things in...perspective.
Money is power. Power corrupts. An awful lot of money...in the Congress and Senate and White House and
God knows where else, means an awful lot of corruption.
What else is new? Rome redux? The hubris of Athens? Or isn't it time we remembered our own history?
We've been here before. This is the same paradigm as existed in the late 1890's, when we were forced to
shift from coal to oil. No we need to shift again.
I say, vote for someone with a RATIONAL PROGRAM for re-industrializing the United States, not the support
of the status quo ante, no matter what party they represent. As a matter of fact, we need at least two NEW PARTIES.
(neither of which is tied to vested, self-interested affiniity groups). We need new forums at the local, state and
national levels. The PEOPLE need to really participate again. With this, we are done.)
Parties that support the U.S. CONSTUTION as well as the AMERICAN PEOPLE...but please, no "NATIONAL PARTY."
Meaning, of course, let's not lose ourselves in the crypto-fascist statism of pure iconography...flag-waving
hysteria, rallies, etc. That's all that Bush II has been, one long, stupid reference to WWII. But nothing disquiets one more than the emergence of posters of a certain candidate that begin to recall the very Orwellian thirties.
Lux et veritas.

No more.
Perhaps you are that shallow and unfeeling. From your comment it is reasonable to assume you may be.
But, henceforth,
speak for your own damn self.
That bothers me, although I am sorry if it seems as though I was attacking everyone who is outraged." After rereading m y post, I can understand how it could be interpreted that way.
Not Yes = No
See?
