AMERICAblog: Leader of the free world, or cardboard cut out?

  • January2009 · 3 months ago
Don't be silly. A cardboard cutout would have way more progressive policies.
  • unrepentant_expat · 3 months ago
Given the number of such photo shoots the president has got to do, I'm sure that he wishes that it were in fact a cardboard cut out.

My goodness, what an earth-shattering expose! A public official in a leadership position who has to pose for thousands of photos at a major political summit has managed the art of the diplomatic smile and pose. I'm shocked, absolutely shocked!

    (What drivel.)

what kind of crap is this? i thought i'd stumbled onto redstate.
  • NotTimothyGeithner · 3 months ago
Funny is funny. Get over it. I use to think only Red Staters would complain about jokes about "Dear Leader."
  • libertydan · 3 months ago
Thats pretty funny, but not cardboard, his thumb moves a bit lol.
  • gloughlin42 · 3 months ago
May as well be a cardboard cut-out. After all, he's as phoney as the day is long and an asshole to boot!
  • Butch1 · 3 months ago
I wonder if he practiced that on in front of the mirror?
  • unrepentant_expat · 3 months ago
That or in front of a mannequin.
  • Butch1 · 3 months ago
;-) I guess it's hard not to get into a pattern when smiling.
  • PeteWa · 3 months ago
that's pretty funny, I would like to see other comparisons with people who get photographed a lot, in these same "take a picture with me" type shots.
  • unrepentant_expat · 3 months ago
Good God, he's had enough practice poising that smile. Some fifty odd years down the road some mortician is going to have quite the job on his/her hands trying to make a former president look stoic.
  • SCLiberal · 3 months ago
    That's kind of spooky.

    And the same tie...
  • Butch1 · 3 months ago
I think it was one of those typical photo-ops where supporters ( $$$) can get their picture taken with the president. This would explain why he hardly moves and is wearing the same clothes and tie. They were probably waiting in line for their turn in front of the camera.

    Awesomesauce!
  • tmaxpa · 3 months ago
libertydan; I noticed the same thing. His thumb kind of waves back and forth, like the only part of his body he's allowed to fidget.
  • LynnDee · 3 months ago
It would be helpful if we could compare this to a similar montage of someone else's posed smile. Without that, how can we know if this is unusual?
  • eezee · 3 months ago
As I said before, Obama's wearing the same tie throughout - it's a FAKE, but it is funny in a warped sort of way.
  • Linda · 3 months ago
No way this is a cardboard cutout, unless it was one with movable thumbs.
  • Owl_and_Rabbit · 3 months ago
    It pays to be consistent.
  • CitizenX · 3 months ago
Shadows change, can't be a cardboard cutout.
  • ArizonaWill · 3 months ago
I am so relieved. Obama has that classic MAD Magazine "What, ME worry?" smile in picture after picture. Just looking at this montage of pictures makes me feel all cozy and snuggly, knowing that everything is in good hands with Obama. Don't worry - Be Happy!

Yeah this was on 17 other blogs two days ago. Nice work, John.
