David Sirota makes a very good point about the damage Lieberman could do

I really like Sirota...one smart, tough cookie.

The fact that Lieberman hasn't been fired yet ... demonstrates that he has great support among the Senate Wimpocrats: Reid, Feinschwein, Schumer, Clinton, et. al. ... No surprise. If you think that the Wimpocrats are "liberal," well . . . you'd be wrong.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
Try to keep up, Gregory. He's already been stripped.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
You said it better than I could. I remember the last election when he stood for his seat. All those assos rushed to support him when it was obvious he was giving us the finger. He was giving us, not the Damnocrats the finger. Makes me very reluctant to try to even try to contact them and give them the gratification of having to ask.

I see via Think Progress that Evan Bayh just went on Fox and said Lieberman should be forgiven and allowed to keep his chairmanship! WTF? What kind of game is Bayh running? Reid should make a definitive statement pronto before any more of this public slithering by other spineless Dems like Bayh. We need some leadership, STAT, Harry.

I don't even understand the desire to give him some lesser subcommittee. How about give him nothing? He's done nothing the past couple of years so how about rewarding him with a big heaping bowl of nothing.

  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
No, I disagree. Would love to see him given chairmanship of the subcommittee for janitorial services for toilet bowl cleaning. It would be perfectly suited to his talents.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Out of the Dem caucus, LIEberman. Traitor. Spy. And you don't get to come back, ever.

Neither Barbara Boxer of DiFi have a position that having a 60 seat majority in the Senate for the Democrats would be a good thing for America or the Democratic Party?

    What the fuck?

Neither have a position that Lieberman should go.

    This is un-fucking-believable.

Please make sure you ask this simple question and report back here your Senators response..

"Do you believe it would be good for America and the Democratic Party for the Senate to have a 60 seat majority?"

It's a simple yes or no answer. If they can't answer "yes" then what the hell are they doing being in the Democratic party?
  • 1970cs · 1 year ago
Dodd's office isn't answering his phone. But after several letters and calls back in '06 my experience is he won't say anything past that he has known Lieberman for many years and that he is his "colleague" in the senate.

Let's send him to Israel, his motherland. Traitor Joe should not be let off easily for going against Obama. He is a shameless man with no loyalty.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
I'm fine for him to stay in the caucus as the subordinate senator from Connecticut with no chairmanships whatsover. I do not favor shaving his head and forcing him to wear sackcloth and ashes.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Obama's giving his first press conference at 2:30...stay tuned.
  • fostert · 1 year ago
Again, Fuck Lieberman. And another thing, why is Lieberman considered a correct spelling while Obama is considered incorrect? Obama will be the most powerful person in the world, be we can't accept his name as being properly spelled? That's fucking crazy, and Mozilla needs to correct that. And they need to say that Mozilla is an incorrectly spelled word to atone. Fuck Lieberman and fuck Mozilla.

Evan Bayh is defending Joe Lieberman on Fox News by saying we need Democrats who are strong on national security:
    http://thinkprogress.org/2008/11/07/lieberman-b...

I emailed Bayh to say how destructive his comments were and if he wanted a national career he should become a better Democrat.

I contacted Senator Reid's office to tell them how I felt. Joe must go. Be stripped of his chairmanships at the very least! I told them that its time for accountability and it begins with our own "house". CALL. Be polite. They will listen. Thanks.

Here’s a suggestion as to how to move forward. Since Lying Joe’s an Independent, if he wants to become a Dem again let him come in as a new freshman Dem senator. Maybe even the seniormost of the freshman class. But for crying out loud, the schmuck said that if the Dems got 60 seats the world would end. And he sat on his committee and effectively killed it during Bush’s last two years. Letting him start over at the beginning is a very generous offer to the jerk.

I heartily second the motion to have Bayh taken out back and beaten with a birch rod until he stops screaming inanities.

    And again, Fuck Joe!

I have followed this blog since the beginning and have never posted. But, I must jump in now. What part of TRAITOR does Harry not comprehend? Under the US Constitution, a traitor faces the most severe sanction. This must surely be some indication of how serious the concept of loyalty is in matters of consequence. I am surprised that there is even a discussion about this. LIEberman should be on his knees begging to remain in the Caucus! His appearance at the Repug convention was WAYYYYYYYYY over the top. The Repugs have nothing to offer him and he is dead meat in his next election! Rather than reward treachery, Reid must make clear that there is a price to be paid for disloyalty. And, the disloyalty was for PERSONAL GAIN! The only one LIEberman has looked out for was numero uno.

Joe, don't let the doorknob hit you in the ass on the way out!

    Don't hold your breath...

Don't expect Pelosi to be replaced, either.

But, just remember, things are changing.
  • bill__free · 1 year ago
We are screwed either way. Everyone on the hill are friends and if they boot Lieberman because of pressure from us, or he loses his next election, he will end up a high paid powerful lobbyist. Same contacts, different job.

He is rubbing our face in it and will never be held accountable.

Unfortunately, as I'm here in Texas, my two senators-including one of the dimmest bulbs in the Senate Chandelier, the execrable John Cornyn-probably won't be much help in getting the Dems to punish Sen. Palpatine Lieberman.

But any other suggestions would be welcomed, as even though I"m not a Democrat, I so want to see Joe punished for his hypocrisy in backstabbing Obama, even though Obama helped Lieberman in 2006.
