    LOL!

I am one who actually thinks that the Dems not getting to 60 in the Senate is a VERY good thing as it strips Lieberman of any leverage for anything. Time to marginalize this twit. Now getting to 61 would have been fantastic. But 60 would have been a problem.

    Go to hell, Joe.
And who is KY Lo again, aside from the Republican lube of choice?

Speaking of consequences, check this out.

The money may be squandered like the no on prop 8 people did. But, I figured a card to Monson was worth it.

OT: gays and lesbians here in Chicago are protesting James Dobson's induction to the National Radio Hall of Fame. He should be in the hall of shame!

Time to throw Lieberman to the lions. Time to get rid of him once and for all. He is a traitor to the democratic party!
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Make that young lions, just learning to hunt so that they play with him for a long time and are very inept at killing. Maybe even rescue him several times, allow him to heal and then toss him to young wolves, then young tigers. Finally, stake him out for the rats at a garbage dump. His nasty, hateful, smirks as he screwed the Democrats and Obama again and again, were even more vile than Bush, pure evil. He deserves to suffer long and very slowly for what he has done.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Yikes!

I hope you don't have access to guns.

    Seriously.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
OT... please sign the petition and pass on the URL or post it wherever you can:

    "To: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
I, myself, and many Californians I know are disgusted with the hatred that the passing of proposition 8 brought. I am asking you to read this over, THE FACTS, not the propaganda. Open your mind for a minute, and realize that this is terrible for future generations as well. How do you know that your future children or grandchildren won't come to you and tell you they are homosexual? Wouldn't you want your child to live a life in which the love they found was supported? Plain and simple, if you are an American, you should believe in preserving the constitution. Proposition 8's passing took away the 14th amendment for a group of people, and I would like to give it back. ..."

    another example of Reid's cowardice.

It is very simple. KICK HIS ASS OUT!

no deals. WE WON, THEY LOST. It's time to start acting like it.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
I think the reason why Senator Lieberman should be kicked out of the caucus is that the Obama Administration needs a Chairman they can work with. Lieberman will drool in thinking he is an investigating Chairman like Henry Waxman in the House. He bloc a major Katrina Invvestigation, supported Susan Collins, and has shown he is too much of a loose cannon to be trusted.

Just kick the guy out and have him enjoy the Republican weekly lunches.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I have wondered about Lieberman all day. I thought Reid was stalling until the last 3 Senate races were decided. Reid can take away Lieberman's head of the Homeland Security but it is my understanding he cannot without a vote strip away his (Lieberman's) caucus rights. I want maximum punishment for this guy. First he thumbed his nose at Connecticut and then he sides with McCain.

Personally, I hope that whiny bastard is thrown out of the Dem caucus. I don't care how many times he voted for the Dems. When it counts he will vote Republican and his statements regarding Obama were nothing short of traitorous.
  • Patriot · 1 year ago
Were I in Harry's shoes I would have thanked Joe for his past, present and future support in the caucus. Then, I would have simply said, "Joe, this chairmanship is just too important and we have to ask you to step down."
    End of discussion.
  • RevDrBillyBob · 1 year ago
Why should anything happen to a stellar member of the Reid-Lieberman-Pelosi-Emanuel Wing of the Wimpocratic Party ? This"we're having some meetings" stuff is all for "show," folks.
  • Hack · 1 year ago
Lieberman anywhere near Democrat Leadership is a recipe for disaster.

What a painful reminder that until we purge the refuse of Pelosi/Reid/Lieberman NOTHING will change.

    ONWARD TO PAKISTAN! IRAN! ARRRRGGHHHH!
  • justndav32 · 1 year ago
I, personally, would see who in the Republicans you could get to jump parties. I know some of the names may not be the best, but you can bet the R's will stop at nothing to prevent anything of Obama's passing in the Senate. They will filibuster everything and then in 2010 say that Obama wont work with them. So I say we get Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Arlen Spector, and a few others in what could now be called vulnerable seats in 2010 and get them to jump parties or make a deal with them much like the gang of 16 that was put together for judicial nominees so they will at least vote to invoke cloture. Last resort option would be to change the rules and make cloture 51-53ish votes.

ried is an utter failure and needs to be send out to pasture.

Hilary Clinton for Senate Majority Leader!!!!!
  • beltman713 · 1 year ago
Let's hope the Dems don't make the same mistake that the Repugs did. The repugs won the majority in 1994 and announced their "Contract With America" promising to do all things good and wonderful for America. Of course we all know where that went. They promised smaller government, we got more government. They promised honesty in government, we got out of control corruption. They promised fiscal responsibility, we got record spending. They promised lower taxes, we got lower taxes, or should I say the filthy rich did.

The dems need to go into the next year on fire and get some good shit done for this country. They need to stay on the up and up, and any dem that does anything unethical, the dems need to take care of it themselves to show that it won't be tolerated, no matter which party does it. If they show the country that they mean business and they truly do want to do better by this country, then there is no reason why they can't pick up even more seats in the next election.

sign the NO JOE petition http://action.firedoglake.com/page/petition/nom...

    letter received 6:10p EST

The Huffington Post is reporting that in their meeting today, Reid told Lieberman that he had to step down from his position as chair of the Homeland Security Committee if he remained in the Democratic Caucus. Lieberman did not accept this offer, which means that his only redress is to go around Reid and petition the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee to keep his seat.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/06/lieber...

We've watched for years as Joe called war opponents traitors, lied about wanting to bring the troops home to get elected, stabbed Democrats in the back and did everything he could to keep Barack Obama out of the White House. Lieberman laundered smears that even McCain wasn't willing to launch himself.

    No way.

Make no mistake about it -- Lieberman was openly threatening the Democratic Caucus in his press conference today.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvTXn7wm-60

    Enough is enough.

Please sign the petition to the Steering and Outreach Committee, telling them it's time for Joe to go.

This would all be moot if Democrats had not, en masse, gone off the reservation to support the LOSER of Connecticut's Democratic primary in 2006:

"I know that some in the party have differences with Joe. I'm going to go ahead and say it. It's the elephant in the room. And Joe and I don't agree on everything. But what I know is, Joe Lieberman's a man with a good heart, with a keen intellect, who cares about the working families of America. I am absolutely certain that Connecticut's going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the United States Senate" - Barack Obama, March 30, 2006

Yes, Barack, indeed they did. Thank you very much.
  • clytemnestra · 1 year ago
agreed ... but we've bigger fish to fry now (getting lieberman out) please sign the petition
  • EdNSted · 1 year ago
But lest you misunderstand, I've gone ahead and signed the NO JOE petition and strongly support removal of Joe from the homeland security committee and from the Senate in general -- but we won't have that chance again soon.
  • EdNSted · 1 year ago
One other point I'd like to make. No one has been more magnanimous with respect to the 2006 Lieberman debacle than Ned Lamont himself:

Why I'm Supporting Barack Obama by Ned Lamont

Yep, and then he turned around and stabbed you in the back!

Help us out: what are the perks of committee chairmanship? Why is it so desireable?
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
sets the agenda for the committee... can investigate the agencies it's supposed to monitor... Lieberman didn't find it necessary to do any investigations -- even for the massive fraud and f'd response to Katrina...

Yes, I have a new nick-name for him: Traitor Joe, ( almost like the restaurant, Trader Joe's )
  • TXfemmom · 1 year ago
Reid should have Lieberman moved to the crummiest, dumpiest office in the entire Capitol.

However, folks, Rohm Emanuel is about as close to a neocon as is Lieberman. Once, I saw him on one of the talk shows and he was still gung ho on the Iraq war, and said that he would still have voted for the war even if he had knownn that there would be no WMD's.
  • BurrDeming · 1 year ago
The anger against Joe Lieberman goes back to 2006. He was not the only Senator who continued to support a forever occupation.

But even then he was unique as a Democrat in going out of his way to taunt those whose support he demanded.
