AMERICAblog: Lieberman lies about McCain health outlook

  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
My Dad was healthy and happy at 83. When I went home for Christmas that year, it seemed like he had a heavy cold. He went to the doctor after the holiday, and they found he had a tumor in his lung. He was dead by April.

The republicans and their medical diagnosis are ridiculous.

Yeah,he and Dr. Frist can diagnose the world's populace just lke they took care of Terry Schaivo

I'd be pissed if my doctors were talking to "my friends" about my confidential medical history. And how come none of these doctors will tell the rest of the country about McCorpse's health status?

Right leaning Minneapolis Star Tribune endorses Tinklenberg:

Bachmann is a culture warrior for the far-right; clearly, that's been her priority. This north-suburban district is hard hit by foreclosures and the economic downturn. It deserves a U.S. House representative who's practical, focused and results-oriented: Elwyn Tinklenberg.

No one picked up on Palin's strange wording yesterday except Raw Story. I would think more blogs would have questioned her use of the words "Joe Mama".

if Sarah Palin had any guts, she'd come right out and say what she really means:

if you vote for Obama the blacks will take over.
  • Milli · 1 year ago
And we're talking about a man who will have the most stressful job on the planet should he win. He's gonna age faster than most men his age who are off sailing, playing golf, writing a book, or doing Viagra commercials by now. Does he really want to end his life having Sarah Palin anxiously checking his vital signs every morning when he could be off chasing young, blond models instead?
  • LeeFromHamburgNY · 1 year ago
He's barely making it through the campaign much less a presidency!!!

Living to 85? So they didn't say he could be a drooling babbling demented old fuck, just that he would be alive. Sounds like a GOP frontrunner if I ever heard of one. Prop the old bastard up and get those morticians in here to spackle some color in those cheeks, McPappy has a speech to make today and he needs to look alive.
  • unpoetaloco · 1 year ago
May Joe Lieberman live to 85 -- incontinent.
  • Deacon_Blues · 1 year ago
Joe Lieberman -- ugh. I SO hope we can kick this smarmy little weasel to the curb after the election.

Hope Joe received a King's Ransom for his soul.

How much is enough for these fucks? How many cars, how many homes, how much power, how many dividend and interest checks?

I think he just trying to save his ass------he has to know he's toast when Dems take over Congress and a big heft of the Senate.

And the doctor he talked to.....Bill "Diagnose Schiavo by Video" Frist!
  • MrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel · 1 year ago
How could "the [unnamed] doctors" disclose confidential information from an individual's medical files to Joe the Turncoat, and to nobody else, like McGrumpy's campaign staff and to reporters? If these little chats actually took place, they clearly violate HIPAA and would place the doctors' licenses in jeopardy. I can't even access the medical records of two of my sons without signing a stack of forms, since they're now over eighteen.

But that's the thoughtful answer. The kneejerk answer is that Joe the Lieberman did what he usually does, and pulled that comment out of his ass...
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
He must feel quite the FOOL for thinking McKRAZIE would choose him for the VP slot. Now he's gotten into a really fine mess. He must be thinkin' his days in the Senate are numbered, betcha'. What an ASS.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
With doctors like that, it's a wonder he's still alive.
  • dclenden · 1 year ago
Would Lieberman be willing to issue McCain a life insurance policy? Would any life insurance company consider McCain insurable? It would be interesting to compare the costs of a $1million life insurance policy between the 2 candidates, but I bet that no company would issue life insurance on McCain.
  • percol8r · 1 year ago
LIEberman must be called to name names on this one. Who are the doctors who are disclosing confidential patient information to third parties -- in violation of HIPAA standards?
  • bejammin075 · 1 year ago
Lieberman can personally vouch for McCain's studly mavericky manliness. Lieberman was probably holding on while McCain turned his head and coughed.
  • bejammin075 · 1 year ago
Staying alive isn't enough to be president! You have to be vibrant, healthy and active! Maybe McCain can live 4 more years, but what if he has to have extensive cancer treatments and surgery?

And Lieberman is full of shit. Also, studies show that doctors are always optimistic about how long their patients will live. The length of time people actually live is shorter than what doctors predict for their patients.
  • Joe_Bourgeois · 1 year ago
I wouldn't be very concerned about his father's and grandfather's fatal coronaries at ages younger than McCain is now. After all, McCain has the kind of sunny, gentle, loving personality that makes heart attacks go in the opposite direction.
  • Bluestocking · 1 year ago
Speaking as someone whose father comes from a family with a long history of men who died of heart disease before they even turned sixty -- his cousin from the same family underwent a triple bypass several years ago -- a history of heart disease, especially in the male line, is by no means something to be dismissed or taken lightly. Just because McCain's mother is still spry into her 90's doesn't necessarily mean that he takes after her, and any qualified medical professional should know this -- anyone who says otherwise is either in deep denial, grossly misinformed, or lying through their teeth. Just because no mention has been made of any problems so far means nothing -- it's by no means impossible that McCain wouldn't even be alive today if he were just an average American veteran who didn't have family connections (including a wealthy heiress as a wife) and wasn't a Congresscritter with access to considerably better healthcare than the vast majority of people in this country at present have.

Sarah Palin's Witch-doctor talks with an un-Saved Jew? Who knew?
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
In the insurance business, you are often asked about family history of health problems. And generally, when you are a male they ask more detail about your father's illnesses/early death and females are asked in more detail about their Mother's. Sure you have genes from both sides and if one lives exceptionally long, there is that potential, but if your same sex relatives died unusually young, you have more a of predisposition for that side than the longer lived side...

Hey, I guess Lieberman will be supporting McCain for President in the 2020 elections, because, you know he'll still have another good year or two...
  • Bose · 1 year ago
Don't forget the health expectancy issue, either: McCain's history puts him on a path of continued good health for just 8 years.

Implication: He's got a 50% chance of a health-related incident, or a significant decline in function, over the next 8 years.

If it were like the one Senator Tim Johnson experienced, the need for the VP to step up would be obvious, but still troubling. How long does a president retain the office, with VP as acting Prez, if comatose? If brain function is fine, but speech is impaired?

If it was a heart-related incident, McCain would benefit from the best and most immediate attention. But what happens if recovery from a surgical intervention doesn't include full recovery of brain function?

Obama's age and good health doesn't make him immune, but that 50% number unnerves me.
  • okojo · 1 year ago
Senator Lieberman decided to take the Bill Frist's course of medical diagnosis, by making proper diagnosis via observing a videotape of Senator McCain.

Senator McCain's grandfather died pretty much from stress of fighting a war. The presidency is the mother of stress monsters. Look how Bush has been aged by his debacles...

"Joe the Desperate Politician" needs to go back to his Troll duties. Get back under the bridge, Joe Lie-berman!
  • bish8 · 1 year ago
I blame the MSM for making this contest about race and not about age and health. McCain is an old 72 and has cancer. His vp pick is not the brightest light bulb in the box. I just don't get it. How can this race be even close!
  • ivyfree · 1 year ago
The interesting thing is, guys tend to die within 2 years of their father's age, if there's a heart condition. Yeah, there's lots of exceptions and McCain may not have gotten the Bad Heart genes. But basically, you look at the age father died and it's plus or minus 2 years. And with his father and grandfather dying of heart disease, I really wonder about his heart.

And that's what makes Leiberman's comments so fucking stupid. NOBODY can predict death. You can't even predict it when somebody has a terminal illness, until they're in the last stages and then you can say "he LOOKS LIKE he's started the dying process." Leiberman probably talked with a doctor who said "he could live to be 85 or he could die tomorrow" and is quoting the convenient part.

For that matter, Obama could die tomorrow. But his odds are better, since he's younger and in good shape.
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
Shouldn't he get back to groveling in case Democrats don't need him? Or is he so certain they'll get 60 and thus have to put up with his bullshit forevermore, that he's back to sandbagging them again?

I know I am going to sound like a Lieberman lackey..

but Lieberman isn't "Benedict Arnold", which alludes to a traitor.

I think he should be kicked out of the Democratic caucus, whether the Dems have 60 votes or not. He votes moderate to liberal on social issues and on AGW, (a bill in which he helped write, with I believed Barbara Boxer) He is annoying and condescending as all hell, but he is doing what he feels is right.

I see him more like a lone orca who leaves the pod to hunt other mammals, than as a traitor. Whatever his idiotic positions on Iraq or his bloodthirst to kill countless Iranians over an opaque nuclear program. There are many Americans who shared his views, and they don't fall into line as "Benedict Arnolds". Idiots, bozos, Sean Hannity fluffers, etc. fine, but Lieberman is just beating his own path with not many followers behind him...
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
I think he may have less than 4-5 years. I am not a medical expert, but it looks like his eyes have changed over the course of the campaign. It could be that he's on drugs, which is cause enough for concern. Or it could be other issues whach no one wants to talk about.
  • jobaby · 1 year ago
Look, I really want Obama to win this election, but frankly, I'm a bit put off by all this speculation about McCain's life-span. This "dead pool" game is really in bad taste, and could look to McCain supporters as if you are "hoping" for McCain to have terminal cancer or something.

I know that with Palin as his VP, McCain's medical problems are a cause for concern, but I think that there are plenty of other reasons not to vote for McCain / Palin without bringing up the melanoma all the time. It's kinda creepy and well, ghoulish.

Obama has so many positive attributes, I think it's better to keep reminding people of the good things an Obama presidency will bring to the country, its just not necessary to dwell on McCain's possible medical problems.
  • JamesR · 1 year ago
Well, fact is he DOES have terminal cancer. Which leaves not just us but the whole world unsafe. With someone who believes in Armageddon, for real, with her stupid claw on the Red Button. Good God - you're "a bit put off?" I'm FUCKING TERRIFIED when I contemplate it. Ghoulish? Creepy?? How about thinking of all those people, Iraqi and American and more who will DIE if McFalin succeed. Not to mention our healthcare and our bank accounts...

Sure Obama is better, that's just icing on the cake, though I think it will make the margin of victory better to counteract all the cheating, but Good GOD - we kinda NEED to point out EVERYTHING positive AND negative, and keep repeating it NON STOP for just one week more.

McCain's horrible Environmental record, with Palin's worse promise, his ruinous economic agenda, his temperament, her temperament, the evil people they surround themselves with, his ill health and her vigor ALL ARE FAIR GAME because, literally, all our lives depend on it.
