is the iPhone still limited to the awful AT&T?
  • John Aravosis · 1 year ago
LOl yes, and I read that the new one will be harder to jailbreak, unlock and everything else to make it more fun. I also wasn't thrilled about the $9.99 charge thing, though I think he said it's up the developer if they want to charge, which is cool.

Looks like Jobs is setting up iTunes to be the Amazon of digital content.

TY John for Live Blogging this!

Sounds like a phone I wanna have!

Ok, I worked at a nonprofit for two years and as soon as the first iphone came out executives wanted one. Now they already had blackberrys that probably have more business related purposes than the iphone. They just wasted thousands of nonprofit dollars because they are pigs. I'd had to see how much the usage airtime charges are for these things.

The phone has been indispensable for me because it permits me to manage the site, and update news, while away - and that is huge for me. But for execs, it's not a replacement for the blackberry. I don't like email on the iphone, it's okay, but checking a lot of it regularly would suck. For me, it's for web and video, it can't be beat for those things if you travel a lot, which I do. And if you work online.

I think most of the software updates (which us iPhone 1.0 users get too, woohoo!) were geared towards corporate users: block move & delete of email, synched messaging, calendars and contacts, email attachment viewing, etc.. 3G is nice of course for the speed boost.

I've been a Mac user since day one. Love the Mac. Steve Jobs is a visionary....he should be in charge of energy policy.

This is awesome news. My iPhone is a wonderful addition to my life, but now I want the new one!

LawMichigander, while I agree with you on the switch your non-profit execs made in theory, the iPhone really is just a better tool for everyone. And the plans are very reasonable. In fact, for me, the only change was adding a $19.99/month package for unlimited web surfing plus 200 text messages. Quite a deal!

The plans are good domestically. Internationally it sucks, I just take out my sim cardwhen i'm abroad - ridiculously expensive to talk, and don't even try to surf. 15 bucks because I hit the wrong button in France, 15 frigging bucks for that one second of web time. Ridiculous. I hear blackberrys have a decent international plan, but not sure.
