It's the old saying, sometimes attributed to Porfirio Diaz, "When the United States sneezes, Mexico catches a cold."

Does this mean Chelsea Clinton might be available to hit the campaign trail? I sure hope so. She's my favorite of the three Clintons.

You'll note that none of the Clinton's have put on an aggressive campaign for Obama. What we keep hearing from them is, "I'm going to hit the trail."

Yeah, well, a girl can dream, right? What I should have said about Chelsea is that at times, she's been the only thing I've thought gave her parents redeeming social value. Then I calm down and remember how much better they were than what followed. But I have to work at it some.

I don't believe there is a "credit crisis". There is a money crisis: most of the wealth is controlled by a handful of people. Those people don't pay the taxes that those at the bottom pay so there isn't as much revenue for municipalities. Those people don't need to shop at the Mom & Pop stores. Those people only need so many vehicles. Those people only need so much electricity, water, sewage services, trash hauling, etc. Until we address the issue of this wildly unequal distribution of wealth the economic woes will continue. This reminds me of feudal Europe.

Right on point SCL. If you fixed this, the entire problem would take care of itself.

Monday's drop in the Stock Market was the worst since 1987 (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/30/business/30ma...) when...drum roll please...Ronald Reagan was President. You know, the savior of Democracy, the one who destroyed communism (only to have it rise again on W's watch) and the one who was involved in the illegal Iran-Contra scandal (whose convictions were overturned by Daddy Bush). Talk about good press. Republican Governments have always been involved in horrendous, far-reaching, even global scandals. How can Americans always fall to the dark side when voting for this decidedly pernicious party. They're not even good at saving money -- spend, spend, spend.
