Moldova could very well join the EU with those policies. Look at the Kaczyński brothers of Poland, they managed to oppress gays in such a way, well past their entry into the EU.

How exactly is homophobia going to negatively affect their chances of joining the EU? Poland was accepted, Latvia was accepted, Turkey is being highly considered?
The European Commission just recently refused to add GLBT to their EU member anti-discrimination directive.
Europe is not quite the happy gay metropolis that we have been lead to believe.

It is better for Moldavian gays if Moldavia becomes part of the EU, because they will be able to LEAVE.
