The Republican base responds really well to fear, most often voting in spite of their own best interests. The Republican leadership knows this and is more than willing to play that little game.
Before it's over, Obama will probably wind up being depicted as a cowardly, unAmerican (ie foreign) drug-abusing terrorist transexual transvestite atheist with Muslim connections who's also a "fancy lad" that has AIDS. Oh, and he's _Black_, too. Time will tell if this kind of tactic will really work or if common sense on the economy, the war and other issues will outweigh fear with enough voters to make a difference.
Heaven knows the Republicans don't have any accomplishments or plan to run except fear this time around.
I would think they'd be running crooked old lobbyist Phil Gramm; isn't he responsible for the mortgage/financial mess, another of the republicons "accomplishments?"

Bush is at all time low at 23 percent approval rating....Obama should be higher in the polls, I suspect they are being too "nice", too much like the Kerry way of campaigning.

Yes, John while you were awol collaborating with the North Vietnamese, America LOST that war. Furthermore, that was in the last century John, this is the 21st century. Things are different; even countries have shifted and changed their names ( Had your incompetent staff of lobbyists managed to make you look at a current atlas?). This is tough love John but you need to realize your carefully polished image of war hero/ POW is only a shell; it does NOT qualify you to be an expert in world affairs or military affairs or to be POTUS. You are a tired old fraud, a crook, and a moral leper.
