I would have liked to have listened to his reply further if there was more and see if he really did agree about the draft. What's so crafty about him, though, is that he gets this hard of hearing look on his face (whether it's genuine or not) so that if the press in an unlikely event questioned him about this, he could say that he didn't hear all of the woman's comments.

Well I am gay and I will not hide it, only way I would serve is if they changed their policy against gays. I just found out my grandfather (Boatswain's Mate 3rd class) whom had excellent marks for years on his evaluations was booted out in 1953 because civilian authorities caught him as a passive partner in sex with a man on leave. They pretended he was a misfit and not a sailor at all, despite his excellent review for years and the fact that you can't become an enlisted officer without being the best of the best. My great great grandfather through my grandfather was a Vice Major in the NY Militia and fought in the Rev War and War of 1812 and descended from the 1st Irish Immigrant. I think he would run his sword through the slim balls responsible for my grandfather's treatment, this is my county and these people need to treat people with respect or go back where they came from, England, Germany, whatever.

LawMichigander, you need to slow down friend. Some european countries allow gays in the military. What is going on now in our military is a sin. You shouldn't blame others. Many times these soldiers are 4 or 5 generations removed from their relatives overseas. My husband is German and was in the american army over 20 yrs. He said the one order he would never agree with was to ask a soldier if they were gay or not. He didn't care as long as the person did their jobs. Not everyone feels that way.

Of course there will be a draft. The missle defense system in Poland is to suppossidly stop Iranian nukes, angering Russia. McCain has already said in the case of WWIII, he would be in favor a draft. Republicans need a war before the election. If we attack Iran, we can count on Russia and China jumping in to protect their interests there. The GOP is willing to kill millions to retain power. They are a sick bunch of f*cks.

when McCain invades Iran (or god forbid Russia) the draft will be reinstated, and millions of young video game playing kids will be sent to fight another needless war, and many will die.
That's the ad Obama needs to run. Show a kid playing a video game being grabbed by someone playing McCain, show the McCain double forcing him to dress in camoflauge, putting him on a plane, fighting in Iran (or wherever) then the last shot should be a tombstone or a coffin. Theres a powerful ad.

While McCain would probably support a draft, I think he would have said *anything* to get that woman to stop talking! It's not exactly an easy sound byte for an ad, either.
